Chapter 16 - Chapter 18

Daniel was drawn in by her topic, raised an eyebrow, and quietly watched Zoe.

"And besides... dressed like a stripper..."

The corners of Daniel's mouth lifted slightly. A stripper? Did she really say that about her sister? He looked deeply at Zoe in front of him but felt a surge of irritation.

"Oh dear, what am I saying..." Zoe trembled slightly when she met Daniel's somewhat cold gaze and quickly changed the subject, "Daniel, look, this is a picture of me when I was still in primary school..."

Dinner was very pleasant. Daniel seemed suddenly very approachable, unlike the aloof demeanor Zervina usually saw.

Zervina sneaked a glance at Daniel, who was laughing and chatting with Henry, and was quite surprised. Was he faking it, or could someone like him really have such a genuine side?

Daniel caught her glance, his sexy lips curling up, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes. Zervina's face instantly turned red, and she quickly lowered her head, taking large bites of the food in front of her.

After dinner, Daniel was about to leave. Before he left, he looked at Zervina and said, "Zervina, didn't you say you wanted me to take you to see the night view? Let's go then."

His words made Zervina's eyes widen instantly. What? Night view? When did she ever say that? This jerk, what was he up to now?

But before she could protest, Henry had already nudged her, "Zervina, go on. It's rare for Mr. Daniel to have free time..."

"I... I..." Before Zervina could voice her refusal, Zoe rushed over to them, looking at Daniel with a bit of shyness, "Daniel, I also want to see the night view. Can you take me too?"

Zervina couldn't believe her eyes as she watched Zoe, who was holding Daniel's arm. Damn, this was her husband. What was she doing?

She quickly separated Zoe's hand from his arm and then held onto him tightly herself, turning to Zoe with a smile, "I'll go check it out first, and next time I'll take you, okay?"

Daniel's handsome face struggled to hold back laughter but still gracefully said to Zoe, "Sure, if you want to go, we can go together next time."

Hearing his words, Zervina turned angrily to glare at him, only to see the mischievous glint in his eyes. This jerk, he was definitely doing it on purpose!

"Really? Really? Daniel, you're so nice..."

"Mr. Daniel, you two have fun... Zervina, you go ahead, it's okay if you come back late, really..." Cai Yaqin smiled warmly at them.

"Yes, Zervina, go out and have fun," Henry also smiled, looking at the two of them as if they were dating.

Daniel naturally put his arm around Zervina's shoulder, nodded to Henry and the others, and then led her towards the door. Zervina struggled a bit but couldn't break free. She followed him stiffly.

"What exactly do you want?" As soon as they stepped out of the villa, Zervina yelled at him.

"Didn't I say I'd take you to see the night view? What? What do you want me to do?" He turned his head, a hint of ambiguity flashing in his eyes.

Seeing the expression on his face, the scene from that night flashed in Zervina's mind, and her face burned. Luckily, the streetlights were dim, so he probably couldn't see it.

Zervina turned her head away from him, letting him drive around the city.

Who knew that his idea of seeing the night view was taking her to the night market?

How long had it been since she last went? She couldn't even remember, only recalling that she used to hold Vincent's hand and squeeze through the bustling crowd together.

Now, things had changed.

Daniel looked at her standing by the car with a fixed expression, guessing she was thinking about something. He walked up to her, "Not going?" Then he squeezed into the crowd first.

Zervina snapped back to reality and quickly followed his steps.

The crowd filled the streets, and several times they were almost separated by the passing throng.

"Here." He stood not far away, reaching out his hand to her.

Zervina stared blankly for a moment, hesitated, but still reached out her hand. He held it tightly, everything seeming so natural.

"Haven't you ever played these before?"

"No, I've never been to a night market." Daniel was focused on a claw machine, softly responding.

Zervina clicked her tongue. No wonder he looked so amazed. Watching him seriously face the machine, it really seemed like he was facing a challenge... and he indeed treated it as one, or else the machine wouldn't have eaten up her entire bag of coins.

"Hurry, hurry, it's almost there, just a bit more..." Zervina nervously watched the claw move the toy towards the hole, cheering on the side.

"Ah—" The toy dropped before reaching the hole, and Zervina let out a sigh of regret, glancing at the man beside her who was holding out his hand. She immediately put on a stern face, "You still want to play? Sir, you've used up all my coins..." It was infuriating. She came out with him and had to pay, and he, the young master, said it so matter-of-factly: I don't have any coins.

Daniel frowned, "Why are you so stingy..."

"I'm stingy? Fine, fine... I'm stingy, play by yourself..." Zervina pretended to be angry and turned away.

Daniel quickly grabbed her, "Honey, just one more time, just one more time..." He flashed a dazzling smile, and with such a handsome face, it was really hard to refuse.

"One time? Really?"

"Otherwise—" He raised two fingers.

"You really are a cheat!" Zervina said, but still obediently handed him the coins. At this moment, she wished to forget the deal between them, wished they could be like the couples passing by, treating each other sincerely.

Watching the man in front of her roll up his sleeves, sweating for a stuffed toy, was this really the arrogant jerk she knew?

Zervina shook her head, trying to shake off the inappropriate emotions.

The music soon stopped.

Zervina couldn't help but roll her eyes, "I say, are you crazy? Turns out you're such a gambler? Luckily you're rich, or you'd lose all your family fortune."

"Buying a toy would lose the family fortune?" Daniel turned to look at her.

"Huh? You... you... said buying a toy?"
