Layla's point of view
I am certain that with what she just did, she definitely was the one to be let out of the competition, and I can't wait for the next day to watch her drag her things; that is if she has anything to pack along with her back to her home, at least one rival, down. I laughed secretly within myself as I watched the next person on the line, who really wasn't a threat, but because she knows way too much, I believe she has to leave.
Martha Brown, one of the councilmen's daughters. Her dad was known for his political way of judging matters, since he was known to speak with so much wisdom and insight. That must be the reason why Martha herself chooses her words carefully.
"I am not a threat to you; you shouldn't be scared of me, be yourself!"
I looked towards where the voice was coming from. We were done with the dinner that was served, and as the custom laid down, we had to sit down and talk to each other, which I think is pathetic.
How can we sit together to relate when we are actually rivals fighting for the same thing? Definitely, we would, in the long run, harbor some sort of hatred towards each other. I looked at Martha, who was sitting on the chair that was on my left-hand side.
"What do you mean by that, you swine?" I said the last part in a low voice in order for me not to call too much attention to us.
"I said that I am not your enemy, but you are your own enemy, and you should be careful of yourself.".
She said staring at me, which made me adjust my sitting position and look away from her.
"I know what you are trying to do, but, guess what?" I said, looking into her eyes.
And I tried to stare into her soul as she was doing to me, which wasn't working, but I still made my point clear:
"You can't scare me the way you scare others; I am different.". I laughed after saying it, which made the other maiden look at me like I had gone mad, but I didn't care; they really didn't matter to me. It was obvious they would be gone by the end of the month, and I would be made the next Luna of this kingdom.
Picturing that beautiful day was more like a dream that would soon come to pass, and I couldn't wait for it to.
"You know you are scared of me, and not just me, but Jackia as well. You are scared that she will win you.".
I stood up and walked closer to her. "I won't sit here and allow you to talk to me like I am a child, or we are related. I do not care what you think of me, but make sure not to cross the line, because if you do, I will make sure to end you".
I walked out of the room in anger as I made my way to my room. Who does she think she is to speak to me and like that? I will make sure she leaves this palace before the end of the week. I can no longer wait till the end of the month.
I finally got to my room, and my maid rushed to unzip my dress. I stepped right out of the dress and didn't bother to bathe. I climbed right into bed, and mother nature lured me away in no time. I obeyed the call of nature.
The sound of the birds was so satisfying to wake up to. As I watched the opened window that must have been opened by my maids, I watched the birds flying back and forth to build a safe place for their offspring.
Making sure it was strong enough to hold their eggs and covered enough to protect them from rain and sun, but fortunately it was winter that was approaching, and at this time they had to make much stronger ones.
My little moment was cut short by my maid, who walked right in and said.
"Good morning, Miss Layla. Would you like to have your bath now?" I looked at her and then went back to the window. "Give me a minute, and I will join you.".
I wanted to watch the birds and listen to their satisfying sounds. Not quite long ago, I got out of bed and went straight to the washroom. I sat down on a bathing stool, as today I wanted a thorough wash.
I wanted to smell fresh and different as I watched Jackia be shamelessly laid off, in front of the whole maidens and the kingdom at large. To what profit was it for her to lose the Luna position and the elite warrior position?
Her family must be devastated. "Please hurry up; I do not want to be late for the ceremony." Speaking with authority now gave me so much satisfaction, as I wanted it all. The position and the power that comes with it.
I could see it from a distance; I could see it from where I sat, but I still had so many barriers before me. She raised a leg up to wash it thoroughly; as soon as she was done washing that part, I stood and waited for her to continue.
She kneed before me and washed my private parts. That was the most enjoyable part of the wash. As soon as she was done, I stepped out wet. She followed me with a dry towel to pamper my skin. I waited for my clothes to be picked out.
This time, I wanted something elegant that spoke authority and victory. She went for the sleek red gown with a lot of embroidery on it. It was perfect, as I thought to myself while she zipped up, and I sat in front of the mirror.
The maids were skilled in all parts, from cleaning to make-up to picking up clothes. It was all perfect, as the lipstick was also red and bold. I stood right up to go for breakfast. I was going to tease her before that time.
I will love to watch how she reacts to her dismissal. My maid helped to raise the edge of the gown as we both walked down to the dining hall. The other maids we met on the way looked at me with surprise.
But they dared not to look me in the eye; it was disrespectful to do so.
