Chapter 33 - Chapter Thirty Three: End Of The Road

Jackia's point of view

I ran for safety, and the only place I could feel safe was my room, and it took me about ten minutes to be able to get to the comfort of my room with my maid on my tail. "Miss Jackia, are you okay? Please wait up !!".

She screamed after me, but I was struggling to keep my wolf inside. As soon as I got to my room, I fell down to the floor and asked, "What's happening?, What's happening to...?!!! Aaahhhh!" I screamed my lungs out.

My maid walked in at that moment, and she saw the horror before her. I thought she would be sad and leave, but she didn't. To my surprise, she stood back.

"Miss Jackia, you need to calm down; this is just an issue that you have to overcome.".

Her voice was calming; it soothed my soul as my wolf started to calm down. How on earth was it working? I looked her in the eye and said,

"How are you doing that? Please tell me." She smiled and held my hand.

"Listen to me, you are stronger than this; you were born to rule; you were born strong; this can't overcome you; so calm down," as she kept on saying that my wolf continued to calm down, and it only took me some seconds to get hold of myself.

She drew me closer to her and hugged me. In no time, I began to feel sleepy. "Come on, you need to rest." We both stood up at the same time. I crept into bed, and as she made her way out of the room, I slept right off.

Waking up the next morning felt like a hangover. It felt like I had done it last night, which was definitely true, but I still can't recall what happened last night. My maid chose the right moment to walk right in.

"Oh, Miss Jackia, you are finally awake. Come, let's get you ready for today." I tried to sit up, but the headache was way too much for me to pretend it wasn't there. She noticed the way I sounded. "Are you okay, Miss Jackia?".

She quickly sat beside me and said, "Not really; I have this headache. I don't understand how it came to be, but I just can't hold it in."

"Alright, you just sit here; let me go get you some reliever drugs, and we can allow you to rest for a few more minutes.".

My maid said she stood right up and made her way out of the room. I laid back in bed and tried as much as possible to recall what exactly happened last night, and I woke up this morning with this headache.

My hands were also pale. Did I fight with anyone? If I can't recognize myself, then I have no other option but to ask my maid what happened last night. Not quite long after, she made her way back into the room with the relief drug,

"Do you know what happened last night?" After I had taken the drugs she gave me, I sat with my back resting on the bed frame and asked, "You do not remember what happened last night?"

She asked me, and I shook my head in response. You were almost out of control; your wolf was about to take over." I looked at her in surprise and said, "Please tell me it was not in front of the alpha's dad and the rest of the ladies?" With a pleading eye,

"Yes, you did, but thankfully you ran out before the worst could have happened." We both laughed at her sarcasm, and with no way of continuing, it took several minutes for me to gain control of myself again.

"It's time to prepare you for the day. Come on, how is your head now?" She also admitted to ordering me up: "I am fine now." I got out of bed and walked towards the washroom. "What are we doing today?".

I asked, wishing to rest today and not do anything. Breakfast as usual; someone is leaving today and.."

"Wait, did you just say someone is leaving today?" She shook her head in response.

"Who is leaving?" I asked after several minutes of silence,

"I do not know, as this kind of rumour does not fly around, so no one knows except the council members.

We both walked into the washroom and got comfortable with what we needed to do, but my mind kept playing tricks on me: "What if I am the one that has to be laid off because of what happened last night?".

My maid looked up from what she was doing as she stood up and looked me in the eye.

"Then I do not think there is anyone that is going to win the competition for now. Let's just keep our hopes high and expect the best.".

I made my way out of the room for breakfast after putting on a simple black raincoat. As I do not know what today holds, I went into the dining hall. The rest of the girls weren't there yet, except for Layla, who was looking extraordinary today.

She was looking happy today, definitely knowing someone was leaving and definitely not her; she must be over the moon now, noticing my presence. "Guest, who came early today of all days, my dear Jackia?".

She smiled evilly at me, and I smiled back,

"Hello, Layla, you are also looking almost out of place yourself, I must confess."

Alpha Ralph and his beta were minding their business affairs. In other words, she deserved what came to her.

She was definitely furious at me for saying that to her, but who am I to care? "You must feel so happy right now, but I assure you it won't last long." I smiled at her and didn't bother to respond as I sat down and awaited the rest of the ladies.

It didn't take long for them to arrive, including Sarah, who was looking much brighter than ever. We finished eating and made our way out to the field, where it would be announced who would be leaving us today.

I have never been this sacred in my entire life. The whole family who cared to be here already sat outside. I could see Dad and my mother staring into my soul. I already imagined the kind of man my father would force me to marry.

Maybe someone with a little nobility will have to bear as many children as he wants, sit at home, and take care of him and the child, not to mention them. If he can afford a maid, will I have one to assist me?

"I welcome you all here today" was what brought me back to reality.
