Jackia's Point Of View
If there was another word for enraged, perhaps it would express how I was feeling. Like who on earth will create such an opinion of spending the whole night alone with the alpha?.
Like what happened to a day off? Or a banquet of food for the whole day? Or a day to do whatever you wish for? I didn't wait for my maid as I walked into the palace angrily.
I came across the alpha being his usual proud self with one of the maidens.
I didn't even bother to glance at them twice to find out what was going on. Not as if I actually cared, I just went straight into my room. But I noticed my maid who was practically running to meet up with me.
"My legs, Miss Jackia, what in the moon goddess name had gotten into you or are you this fast while walking?"
She said jokingly but I wasn't in the mood to joke around with anybody. I went into the washroom and pulled off my clothes. Fisher must have sensed my anger as she kept quiet while cleaning me up, then I decided to speak up .
" Is there any possibility for me to decline spending the night with the Alpha ?" I asked this time not in an angry tone but in the voice of a scared virgin which made Fisher blush at my question.
"Is that why you have been moody all this while and you have refused to speak with me?" Fisher asked me.
" I guess so, but looking into the matter sternly, isn't it an offence to take a lady Into your abode without any form of approval from her parents? Such an act should be critically looked into''.
I said to Fisher who only laughed at me all this while without saying a word to me.
" Okay let's just say that this is a tradition that has been from ages and I believe every century there have been maidens like you who refused and revolted against such rewards given to them when they win a particular game ".
She said and I felt bad and regretted ever winning the game.
" I will from henceforth refuse to win any game again" I said to myself as I headed out from the wash room to get ready for dinner before we head right for the rituals .
Where our fate would be decided if we would be able to continue with the game or not and most of the time according to the stories narrated to us, the imposter amongst us will not only be sent away but might end up losing her life in the process.
As soon as I got dressed I made my way out but we were met on our way by another maid " Miss Jackia I am sorry if it was too much of a bother to move you from your room and to tell you that the king has requested all the maidens to have their meal in their respective room and prepare for tonight's ritual as planned ".
The maid bowed her head and made her way back to where she was coming from, while I and Fisher went back to the room.
" I may not be spending the night in the alpha's room after all. I don't know why I got myself so worked up about it in the first place".
I said smiling and jubilating within myself " don't be too joyous, the ritual is still going to go right on" she said as we both stared at each other .
But our attention was called towards someone knocking on the other side of the door. Fisher stood up to attend to it as I sat right up and awaited what that was, only to see Fisher return with a tray of food .
While I dived right into the meal only then did I realise that I was extremely hungry , but Fisher was desperately going through the closet to get me a dress that would suit the occasion.
" Why don't you join me and bother about the dress later on?".
I said to my maid who sent a dirty stare my way.
"Miss Jackia I would definitely love to but as of now I am not just bothered about the dress I am bothered about the fitting so if you would be kind enough to not eat to your fill tonight, I promise to bring you more food after the ritual".
She said to me with a pleading eye,
" I wish I could be of help but for now my dear, I want to eat to my fill as I do not know what else to expect at the ritual ground " I said to her as I couldn't stop eating my meal and blocking her from my hearing.
**************
After several trials, I finally fitted into the ball gown she chose for me for the rituals and as usual I was always the last to appear as we made our way through the hallway, almost running. Thank goodness I was so fit to be able to run in a ball gown .
Upon getting to the open field, there I could see thousands of wolves in their human form all seated with the chairs brought from their home to witness one occasion that happens every two hundred years. Not everyone was lucky to see this, but only one tenth of the people seated had witnessed this occasion.
There at the front rows were seated the parents of every lady chosen by the moon goddess as they were given the honour to witness the first hand of the ritual tonight. As I walked by, I saw my mother and I immediately ran towards her .
" Mother" I screamed as we both hugged each other and tears dropped from my eye, but my father didn't bother to spare me a glance as he only said.
" You better make sure to win the game, remember the words you gave to me or you come back home and marry the man I choose for you".
Father said with no form of remorse to me "Oh please stop , aren't you happy to see your daughter making you proud already? all you do is bully her at every chance you get" mum said crying, but I had to let her go as we were being called upon.
We were called to stand before everyone , the entire wolves stood up as well. The clock was ticking and the moon light was beginning to shine more brighter, the alpha's dad stood on our left hand side as we heard a voice from above , so loud and clear .
" Kneel before me, you the chosen maidens of the moon goddess, I have come before you tonight to not only bless you but to sanctify you and reveal to you who you truly are '' the moon goddess said as I could recognize her voice.
We all knelt down on our own accord but I could feel a great force like an electrical lightning charging through my soul as I knelt down motionless and awaited the next line of action. Everywhere suddenly went dark and then it was like the five of us were summoned into another world ,a world filled with bright light and everywhere was a reflection of ourselves.
