Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen: The Imposter

Jackia's Point Of View

"Welcome maidens, to my humble abode. I see that you all are beautifully made with your destiny created by me, and I not only know who you are now, I know who you will be in the future. The moon goddess said with a smile as walked around us slowly like an eagle watching its prey carefully, like a lion who awaits to sense the fear of its prey so it can delight in it, like a hyena who enjoys its prey alive as it devours it with cruelty. We couldn't really tell how she was feeling.

"This is a ritual that can only be performed once in every two hundred years. Within you all, I sense an intruder; someone shouldn't be here, but we will get to find out who she is before the end of the ritual.".

The moon goddess said, earning a smirk from me and Layla who chose to speak up,

"If there truly is an intruder amongst us, shouldn't the wise moon goddess herself be able to identify such a person? I don't know why we are here. Let's just get down with the mate game and get over with it, and not waste anymore of our precious time.

Layla challenged the authority of the moon goddess, but if I didn't know better, I might have agreed with her challenging the intelligence of the moon goddess, but I rather keep quiet and not be taunted ever again.

"I choose not to disgrace such a person myself, but I love when I have clear evidence to show you the world what this wicked person has done to a poor soul; taking forcefully a right that doesn't belong to you; taking a life because of power disgusts me.".

My wolf at this time was feeling quite dizzy as she felt totally overwhelmed

"I feel ctippled right now. I will have to take a quick nap, but remember to tell me everything that happens here." But that's kind of weird; my wolf shouldn't be sleeping at this time when there is tension.

"You can't possibly be serious right now; I need you damn it." I told Sarai, who didn't bother to listen to me. A few seconds later, she was totally quiet and I knew she was napping, leaving me to face my fate and my destiny. Then the moon goddess asked us to rise on our feet.

This time showing her face to all of us in her beautiful white gown that covered her feet. And the crown on her head shone brighter than usual, but I was too lost in her beauty to notice that she stood before me.

"My dear, have this candle," she said as she handed over to me a white candle, but it didn't look like the usual one we use in our world; it was way bigger, and it was erupting some sort of energy within it.

"Right now, before you all and mind you, you all kingsmen and the Alpha as well as the Alpha's dad are watching you, and you have the last chance to let go and walk away with the little shame you have left or you die during the process.".

The moon goddess said to all of us that the rest of the maidens were so shaky that they started to sweat before the process even started at all, making me lose my sense of boldness. Then she started to draw lines around us, and in between us.

I looked through and looked before it all started or before it ended. It took several minutes before the lines made any sense to me; it was the mark that was on my forehead, and I knew fully well that I wasn't supposed to look at her directly.

She was surrounded by lights, and the lights shone brightly. Then the candles began to get hotter by the minute. It was now becoming way too hot to hold on to it. I do not know what else to call it, but the energy became stronger by the minute.

The next minute, a scream erupted from the room. My wolf was awoken; it felt like it wanted to take control. As the candle flew from my hand, I bowed down to her as a sign of total submission to my creator and awaited the next order.

But the only person who didn't transit like the other was unknown to me at that moment, but as soon as this transition came, it ended by the minute, knowing fully well that I might not be able to recover from this experience so soon, but it was something I have never felt like no other.

Then we were back to the field, but were called into reality by the voice of the alpha.

"Thank you, my beautiful maidens, according to the moon goddess, no intruder was found, as you all were destined to be the chosen bride for the alpha king to emerge.

But everything felt strange to me. Why was there noise in the room? Why then the calling of rituals? If there was no intruder amongst us, was there something the moon goddess was trying to hide from earlier? Was that why we were asked to hold on to the candle?

Everything didn't really make any sense to me, but at the end of the whole scenario, we were all escorted back to our room, but as for me, I was escorted back to the Alpha's room, even though I pleaded with my maid to please allow me to think about it.

"Fisher, shouldn't we discuss this first before I am bundled into his room, please?" I said to my maid, pleading with her like she was my sister, but she refused.

"No," Miss Jackia, it is a reward that you have to fulfil; it is not a choice, please.``.

She said as I was pushed into his now empty room, I walked reluctantly to a sofa that was at the far end of the room and got uncomfortable in it. As I sat and waited in silence, I had to brace myself. Why should I be scared of someone I could tackle in a battle and win over a fight?

I encourage myself to fight against his advancement and not allow him to touch me; I wouldn't be an object for his satisfaction. I was born a warrior to fight and protect my kingdom, not to be a pretty made-up Luna bearing babies for the alpha king to be all in the name of filling a mate's duty.

I said to myself, only to wake up the next morning still on the couch, but this time not alone. The alpha was standing by the doorstep, staring right at me. I quickly sat up, a little bit scared that he had touched me, but only to look at myself sitting on the same spot I was since and my clothes still on with only a few wrinkles from how I sat in the chair. Well, I guess he never spent the night in this room, but our little staring moment was cut short by a noise coming from outside his room.
