Chapter 7 - Meeting the Pope.

2 months and 24 days have passed, making Aluuin 4 months old from when he was born in July. At the beginning of November 1850, many interesting events occurred, it was the end of the American Sectional Crisis, where the separation of Slave and Free states was coming to an end. Through Aluuin's partial intervention, Georgia has become a Free state, with the recorded 382,000 Slaves throughout Georgia now becoming a great portion of regular society. However, it wasn't without its hurdles.

Aluuin's powers have developed enough to no longer be in 'known' capabilities and are now truly magical, the information density is great enough that only a few skin cells are now required to transfer information and its knowledge/memory editing proficiency makes it no longer cause headaches/lightheadedness, though it still requires people to eat a greater amount of food after its process is done.

Thanks to this through normal processes of skin exfoliation and 'dead' skin cell releasing, any person he has not been in contact with before would then become a 'carrier' within 5 minutes, which then could have alterations as necessary. He told the people he trusted the most (Dad, Mom and Aunt) that his powers had grown further and that he was planning to use them further throughout the rest of the Slaver States. Originally, these people were Patriotic to Georgia, but due to Aluuin's interference, they saw it for what it was.

'Maybe that's why Lyle was so messed up after the war because he experienced his and his allied states' loss, that he then felt he no longer wished to lose ever again? Both parents were dead by then too, probably due to the war. At least our family didn't own slaves.' Aluuin internally mused. "By the end of December, I plan to do Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. The 1.6 Million slaves total shall be freed.

Does anyone have any objections?" Aluuin asks, through the provision of knowledge for better Technologies and Techniques, that the people would easily be able to recover from their 'losses' once the people were freed. "Yes, we do. We understand your processes as to why you're doing it, but they do not. How will you create sympathy for those whom they see as objects to be disposed of? Because it's the same way as how we once saw animals; 'Creatures' that emulated us, not who they truly were." Mother Ambrosina asks.

"I wish to create a mental play," Aluuin states as if that were only natural. "A mental play? Is that like a regular play, but you instead play it as a memory, like how you gave us your knowledge?" The Inquisitive Nun asks. "Very astute, yes. Much like how I gave you my 'past memories' I will create a first-person, autobiographical experience of a person from my imagination who gets sold into slavery." Aluuin shocks them all.

"Couldn't that traumatise the people?" Mother Ambrosina asks "Just as traumatised as the people who are Patriotic to the Slaver States are, if they allow a government to continue working toward this goal, they must first experience what they are causing; The only reason why they don't change it is because they feel that it is not a problem in the first place." Aluuin shares his own sentimentality. "Just don't go too overboard, though my guess is you would anyway." Prioress Catalina comments in the background.

Aluuin had already created a good outline for the story. The Kingdom of Benin (A South African Pre-Colonial Kingdom) had many slaves due to the tribes that they conquered. There would be a young boy who lived in a peaceful tribe, he was the son of a reed thatcher who made baskets and rope for his tribe. One night out, while collecting the necessary reeds by the ocean, he hears screaming from the background, from the direction of the village.

He sees smoke building up. He runs back as fast as he can, dropping the reeds he already collected. To his horror he sees. . .

Many dead, already tossed onto a corpse pile. Of the elders and chief of his tribe, treated carelessly as if they were just material. With a mass grave being dug up. He collapses to his knees, eyes flickering with fear. His eyes scan the surroundings until he sees his parents. They are shackled within a mobile pillory, with iron chains dragging them ahead.

His eyes water, but no sound comes out. As soon as he tried to cry, he got hit on the back of the head, knocking him out. After an hour, he wakes up. Soon he saw all he knew turn to cinders, with their people in cages. All with not enough room to even be shoulder to shoulder. He's even worse as being a child means he is squished into place, nearly being trampled under the serried people.

Soon, they open the cages, with there being new room they try to flood themselves outwards, but get stopped by guards with Dahomey Iron weaponry and armour. The few people who have whips hit them now crackle it along their skin, and they are in shock at seeing it. He stares at this brutal mockery of humanity. Now he associates these people as monsters instead, for their view of them as chattel is something that only a demon of what they described in their tribes could do.

He is now a slave, sold and forced into the iron mines of the Asante Kingdom. He still has shelter, food and a bed. But they are treated mercilessly throughout the process. . .

Many events play out during this time, and 20 years soon pass. He has been transported to bring the iron to Port for transportation to the Mali Kingdom. Until he sees new ọkọ oju-omi (ships,) compared to what he knew, they were larger and appeared made with more metal.

Soon, men of great variation came out, appearing as if they were nobles from another group; Yet some appeared scary to the mind of the boy. Their eyes were yellow and sunken, with very pale, flaxen skin (due to jaundice,) their noses were red and swollen (due to drinking,) their teeth were worn down or even missing to some, with bleeding, receding gums that make the teeth appear threatening (due to scurvy.) Appearing almost like the Abazom for the 'Adze of Togo' (Vampiric beings of Ewe Mythology, in human form.)

The boy believed his blood would be consumed by the end of the night. Luckily, that never came to be. After a few weeks what came to be was a trial for translation and 'cultural exchange.' The slave trade through the Pacific Ocean came to be, and they sold many, including the boy; Transported to America, he was forced to work for another 30 years before his efficiency started to drop, and due to that, he was manumissioned.

He saw many deaths from his friends of many ethnicities during their slave work overtime or when punished due to inefficiency. It surprised him how many different types of slaves existed, even at one point the boy was forced into being a breeding slave through cajoling, coercion and being threatened due to his good genetics. All due to their belief in profits. Many times he wondered if these 'Abazom,' instead of drinking their blood, they instead consume their life altogether through work. And as such, he died a penniless man.

Yet, the alaburuku (nightmare) is finally gone, and he is now free, he travelled to Wisconsin, where he spent the rest of his days alone, grieving for something that could've been. . .

Aluuin showed this to his Dad, Mom, Aunt and the trusted nuns. They saw the entire life of this person made for the story in less than 2 minutes. ". . . O le ti ṣe eyi ni idiju pupọ. *Shakes head* Is this based on a real person?" Dad asks, with his eyes appearing indescribable.

"It is based on many people who were part of the Sub-African Slave Trade. I did not base it on a singular person, otherwise, that may make it too biased to a single situation." Aluuin comments truthfully, as he based it off of 5 different people from History Classes. "How do you know these people?" The inquisitive nun asks. "There are not just saints in Europe and America, they are global, after all. Many were sent there to change the situation unsuccessfully." Aluuin bull-shits, though everyone's none the wiser.

"If they were like you, could it have changed? Why did they choose to send you only now?" One of the less-talkative nuns asks, reiterating a question asked a few months prior. Others wonder the same thing, even if the question may seem sacrilegous. As they knew his personality well, Aluuin would not take it badly. "Because of Free Will, it is something that should not be altered unless necessary." He states again automatically, almost machine-like.

"Well, I truly understand what it means to be a slave now. Thanks for showing it to us, even if it made us very uncomfortable." To avoid that awkwardness, a few of them say their thanks and leave quickly 'Heh, skedaddling like awkward teens in front of their collective crush, matches many of their thoughts too.' Aluuin internally jokes. Dad, Mom and Aunt stayed behind to do other conversations involving plans for the future, such as the implementation of technologies and necessary advancements in Hygiene and Medical Sciences.

After a few days had passed, there was a message from nearby telegraph stations that the Pope would finally come around to their location in about 4 days. This sparked debate on the development of the area; Which applied to the fact others knew the reason why he was visiting, this gave Aluuin's message greater credence. Large crowds of people visited the area, all Patriots, Slavers (some with slaves) and Free peoples came within a day's travel.

This greater influx of people to their area has allowed Aluuin to do a major influence check, as over 40% of the people who came had never had direct contact with him. Just by being near Aluuin the air around him transferred his skin to every one of them without them even noticing as they could not tell the difference between it and the dust that was released from the ground. He made silent alterations to their mentality if necessary which then removed their objectively negative traits and promoted greater egalitarianism for all groups.

This process took about 12 hours of continuous walking around, talking with the 'tourists' who came for this pilgrimage and making sure that this connection to every one of them came around. After this was done, every one of the people (except a minority that chose not to be contacted, which will be dealt with soon.) Seemed to be entirely different from even 30 minutes before contacting Aluuin, as if they had been 'blessed.'

They appear wiser and more forward-thinking in their ideals. They attributed to the young child they saw in front of them, and even began praying through this process as a form of atonement and acceptance by God to becoming his 'chosen people.' This change of mentality suddenly saw the very 'objects' they once took for granted as the people they truly were, which surprised the slaves there. There were many with resentment and anger, but they were promised retribution after the event was done.

Some who had hardier mindsets or were the ones who chose not to contact Aluuin were soon rounded off. And all the people gathered, Aluuin began a sermon; Showing 'the way to the Lord' and that all had the 'opportunity to be like David himself' if they wished to 'let go of their sins' through the release of the Slaves and through seeking atonement to every crime they ever personally committed. "Do you really believe this 'boy' here? Such balderdash. . .

It's something that I'd see stated in a sissy flick that'd be involved with people who'd wish to destroy our lives and income!" One of the major food importers stated, knowing that if he agreed with these ideas his plantations near the South Coast would be gone in smoke. "Yeah, it's something that I'd believe was from somebody that'd wished to be c***ed by a n***er." One of the more loud-mouthed Railroad tycoon people that owned slave workers stated. Though with less conviction than they'd otherwise have due to the gradual change.

Aluuin heard this raffle, so he instantaneously showed them all the 'Mental play.' Everything they'd ever said was soon forgotten, as a slew of memories of a life that never was, played through them. They experienced trepidation and had increased their self-awareness of the trauma they've caused to generations of people through their selfish ideological beliefs and dogmas that they'd pervaded their part of society ever since America was founded.

This belief that was being spread to the children was ground to a halt and reversed to become instead what would be best for society (in Aluuin's view,) everything that could ever have happened to the slaves showed it through the eyes of many as in their perspective they also learned the passions, dreams and experiences of slaves from other ethnicities and backgrounds too through becoming a slave in this 'Mental Play.' When seeing the deaths of these people who they knew, they internally broke into a spiral of pessimism/cynicism.

After 3 minutes, every one of them came out different, they all appeared a lifetime older in their eyes, and even the children that came were not spared of this. Many broke down in sobs, crying. Many felt the injustice that was slavery and saw the pain through a first-person perspective of ones who they came to subconsciously regard as somebody close to them, all who were Slave Reliant even began to feel self-dejection and anger for what they were.

Such hatred, pain and suffering brought on by such people made them so abhorrent in their minds that awkwardly enough, many became suicidal. As soon as this process was done and they regained their bearings, they brought out their weapons and tried to hit, stab or even shoot themselves. Luckily Aluuin caught this and the hundred or so people who were about to try and self-harm were stopped within 30 seconds. There was a minority that called for their own death. Others were quiet about them, as they felt they were just as guilty.

Some had survivor's guilt, some began developing a nascent inferiority complex. Which was also caught and quashed by Aluuin. 'Now, the real plan begins.' Aluuin internally comments, still slightly miffed about the comment that one Railroad Tycoon had said. All who said such comments or believed in such topics soon began giving a torrent of apologies to their now-freed slaves and children. "Do you see how much suffering you've caused?" Aluuin asks all.

All turn to him and immediately extol such praises with inlaid apologies for their 'feeble' human nature and what pain they've caused that in essence they see him as a god in the flesh. Aluuin, while still internally startled is capable of hiding his struggles through a mask. "Now I hope you understand how to be better, for the Lord has made you all equal. Free Will as a choice meant that the slaves always had the option of servitude or death. The same can be said for the slavers, choosing for profit or punishment, an 'Us vs Them' Mentality is made.

Now I hope you understand what has been truly done to humanity and how far such degeneracies have caused corruption to the people." Just this single sentence, while simple. Shocks all that were there, many who broke down and developed a greater moral compass and backbone soon told their sins of what they've caused. Telling the truth about crimes they've committed in the past and whether they had a reason to or not. Guilty or not.

In two days, the Pope shall arrive. And with the crowd of people who saw a direct miracle that was shared between tens of thousands of people now internally hope that they would experience such an enlightening experience as what they have now. Maybe they could be told another secret to what humanity should truly be like. They don't know yet, but their expectations are visible and grand to all who can see them. About seeing, afterwards, he asked others if he was allowed to cure their vision, hearing or mobility issues too.

"Classic Aluuin, being such an 'aloof yet charismatic' figure. At this rate, I believe the world would see him as a being beyond humanity that should not be corrupted by them, a Christ-like, pure figure that should not be in such scruples." Mother Ambrosina states, knowing that his miracles are causing great turbulence in all of America's and even some of Europe's circles. She believes he is working too hard to become an example of a paragon of virtue.

Because of how he has been working already, he already reached beyond what she could see anyone completing for humanity. She is becoming so fanatical with this belief that she's starting to internalise a belief that he is without sin. 'But this is sadly necessary to even develop basic human decency in some areas. And I have caused what I believe is sin, jeez.' Aluuin internally murmurs, hearing the comment she's said and her growing belief that he is 'truly pure.' Now, two days have passed, and this continued through a growing assembly.

Repeating it with others who soon came around, except with additional feverish gospel spreading of Aluuin's comments from the crowds; As if he is a Saint beyond Saints in their eyes. 'Which sadly I have made due to what I have developed. I just wish it never had to lead this way, I never expected them to be so religiously entrenched. Oh well, at least this plays to my agenda for long-term peace developments.' David internally grumbles.
