The scene before the coliseum was a battlefield drenched in blood and chaos.
While a few of the zombies were being taken out by the multiple beams of red and white, most of them maintained their previous act in front of the structure, scratching and slamming at the huge doors, drawn by the scent of the living within.
Their low, harsh groans filled the air, mingling with the muffled cries of the few survivors who were still struggling to hold them back.
Damien and Finch arrived at the battlefield like a storm, and he drew his sword immediately.
The blade gleamed like silver lightning in his hands as he launched himself into the fray. With every strike, his swords danced through the air, cleaving through the zombies with ruthless precision.
It wasn't his first time of killing the zombies so he wasn't affected by the gruesome scene of carnage as he had gotten accustomed to it.
Heads rolled, and limbs were severed, as he cut a path through the horde, his strength and movements had vastly improved ever since leaving the school cafeteria.
Finch was a stark contrast to Damien's wild and unrestrained style of battle — a slim figure with glasses and a calm demeanor, he moved with a quietly with his crossbow, Stormpiercer.
Finch kept his distance, picking off zombies one by one. Each bolt he shot found its mark, burying deep into a rotting skull or piercing through a decayed eye socket. Where Damien hacked through the undead with brute force, Finch was surgical as each shot was precise and deliberate.
It had only been a few minutes since the battle started, but the air grew thick with the stench of blood and decay, but neither of them flinched.
Damien spun, dodging a grasping hand before driving his sword through the chest of a particularly large zombie. The creature gurgled as it fell, its remaining life, if any, snuffed out in an instant.
Satisfied with his battle so far, Damien turned towards the newly arrived group of primal warriors. The two behind the long-range primal warriors had also joined the fray.
They turned out to be melee fighters with the petite one swinging her sword, cutting through the zombies. The other spotting a bulky frame, his weapon being a large battle axe over four feet long.
He swept through the zombies like a raging bull with one swing of his battle axe cleaving the heads of two zombies.
Damien analysed his opponents as they fought, getting a gauge of their strengths and weaknesses.
While the bulky man who he recognized to be one of the Academy's security guards possessed incredibly strength, his agility and body movements were severely laking.
As fo the petite girl, he didn't recognize her but she was probably just a primal warrior not long ago as she was almost scratched by the zombies a few times during the fight.
After gauging their strengths, Damien ignored them and shifted his gaze to the girl in a caped-hoodie and the young gunman.
They were the only ones that caught his attention, especially the girl in a caped-hoodie. She was most likely a fire attributed primal warrior as she constantly conjured flaming beams from thin air to fire at the zombies.
She even formed a sword made of flames which cut through the zombies with no resistance.
She was probably the strongest primal warrior of their group and the strongest he'd seen so far.
The young gunman was also quite powerful. His pair of guns had a high destructive power and the most dreadful part of it was the ability to fire continuously with barely a sound escaping its nozzle. This young man was literally a walking assassin.
As the last of the zombies fell, silence descended over the battlefield, broken only by the ragged breathing of the petite girl. She quickly noticed and looked away with a slight blush on her face. This sight broke the awkward atmosphere surrounding them.
The young gunman then approached the petite girl, he smiled, "Jenna, I'm glad you're okay..."
Jenna? Damien blinked before he finally realized the reason why this woman looked familiar.
Jenna, a fourth-year student, and current student association president.
Damien knew a little about her because he had met her a couple of times when she, as student president, organized student assemblies to report important information and events. However, since she was not important to him, he had simply forgotten about her existence.
"I'm glad you're okay too, Bryan." Jenna replied as she regained her composure.
Anyway, since the zombie problem was fixed, Damien and Finch did not stay to listen to this group's conversation and turned around, walking away quietly.
"Wait a moment, little brothers!" The bulky middle-aged man, Bruce, quickly shouted when he saw them walking away. His words had attracted the attention of his other pair group members.
The duo stopped and turned around to look at him silently, waiting for his next words.
"How about you stay here with us?" Bruce offered. "With the strength of the six of us together, we can easily wipe out those creatures and live a better life."
Damien had a strange glint in his eyes. He simply turned around and as he walked away said casually, "I am simply going to look for a few students and teachers whom I saved earlier. I didn't go out of my way to clean up this place to casually leave."
"Eh?" Bruce was puzzled.
On the other hand, Jenna looked at him coldly before turning around and walking away as well. The young gunman, Bryan, quickly followed her as they chatted with each other. Only the girl in a caped-hoodie remained, gazing at Damien's retreating figure.
Ten minutes later, the group of survivors rescued by Damien and Finch, and the other group, joined together to form a large group of about fifty-six people.
After arguing for some time, the people hiding inside the coliseum were forced to open the huge doors regardless of their fear.
Although none of them were willing to open the doors and risk letting danger in, after Bruce threatened that if they did not open the doors he would break it down by force, they had no choice but to give in.
Damien was surprised to discover a total of approximately thirty people hiding inside the building. Among these thirty people, there were men, women, and some teachers. They all looked at them with apprehension and suspicion.
As for this, Damien ignored it. He and Finch separated from everyone and walked around the premises, making sure that there was no hidden danger of any kind.
The Dawnstar Academy's coliseum was really huge and it was a huge building with all kinds of functions. There was a large indoor basketball court, a sports equipment room, a theatre, and a cafeteria. The cafeteria was Damien's target on this occasion.
Bang! Bang!
The coliseum's metal doors was closed tightly. Damien and Finch, who had moved away from the group entered the cafeteria.
