Magic was a unique concept that defied the law of physics. In this world, the elves had a saying that everything is mana and mana is everything. The concept of person having mana pool, did not exist here. The ones that could connect with nature and harness the mana around them could use magic here and become mages. There were total of seven major magic attributes, fire, water, wind, earth, thunder, light and shadow.
The moment David chanted the spell, he felt something surge inside of him. The mana, invisible force in the air started to gather around him. Yuna who was standing on the side, watched everything happen with curiousity, her eyes focused on David. Infront of David, a small sparks of fire ignited and David started to pour more mana into it without knowing. Within moment, the tiny sparks formed a circular bright orange ball of fire, 'fire ball'.
Yuna's eyes widened in astonishment, she had a look amazement and happiness in her face. She was also proud and surprised, David managed to learn understand mana in such a short time. Not only that, he also performed basic fire spell with ease. Of course, wasn't grand or anything but that was to be expected. He was trying magic for a first time.
As far as about Yuna goes, many things were in her favers when it comes to learning new things. She had all her water and ice magic knowledge passed to her by the moon frost queen, she had a super brain of an advanced AI and also she was a S rank powerhouse. That was the reason why Yuna didn't have to struggle much to learn magic spells or other things. She couldn't learn the spells of other attributes though and that was the only minus for her.
David, opened his eyes as he felt the heat in the palm. His excitement excitement rose, a broad smile appeared in his face. "Yeah baby. This is what I am talking about." He exclaimed in joy when he saw a fire ball infront of him.
"You did it David, you're officially a mage now. I am very happy for you." She said affectionately, with a rediant smile on her face. She showed her happiness and support for David.
"Thanks Yuna." He said sincerely.
Yuna came to him, "As you already can use the fire attribute magic, hurry up and try other spells from the book. " She hurryed him to cast other spells, her eyes sparkled with anticipation. She was eager to know his true potential.
David nodded and began to look into the book. In the book there were total of five spells. One of them was fire ball of fire attribute that he just used. And there was water ball and water bullet of water attribute, electric burst of thunder attribute and lastly wind shield of wind attribute that he hadn't tried.
He chose to go with water ball. He concentrated on the feeling that he felt during the fire ball. This time the mana of the nature came to him naturally. The air pressure of mana increased and soon the ball of water size of a human head appeared in a second. "Water ball." He called out.
The moment David chanted the spell, the ball of water flew forward in full speed. The target he aimed at was a tree 3 meters away from them. And 'Baam' the ball of water collided with the tree but it didn't have much impact on tree. David was just a beginner, it was his first day using magic and he did it splendidly.
More than that, he could use fire and water magic. He didn't stop there, he tried wind magic next. He managed to create a small wind shield. Then finally, moved to the thunder attribute. Just he was about to use the spell,he felt light headed and he almost tripped.
It seems that you can't use magic countiniesly, it would hollow you out of your energy. The more mental fortitude and energy in your body you have, the more longer you could use magic. And for beginners like David, it was more important to relax and practice in between every few spells. When you get used to it and increase the mastery of your spell, you could use for more longer.
"Are you okay David? You look pale and out of energy." Yuna said catching David from falling. She was concerned if something happened to him.
"No, I am fine. I am just tired." He said sitting down under the tree.
"Are you sure?" She asked anxious. David nodded with a soft smile, assuring her he was fine. Yuna let out sigh of relief, "you worry me too much, you know." She complained.
David looked at her with apologetic eyes. "Sorry to make you worry, Yuna." He said and the next moment his expression turned into one of excitement. "I think, I can cast all spells. Isn't that great?" He said with a grin.
"Yes, it is and it will help you become stronger faster. You don't have to fight monsters like before." She said with a smile of pride. She countinied, "but you can't be reckless like this again. We will go slow and steady."
David agreed and they discussed about the spells until David rested. Few minutes later, David started practicing the spells again but this time he wasn't greedy, he would take breaks. To perfectly master spells, it would take lots of time and effort. There were three types of known spells in this kingdom, basic, advanced and peak. David was practicing basic magic spells.
David was practiced his magic inside the ice wall Yuna had created. As for Yuna, she went towards the deep part of the forest. Yuna was flying in air looking right and left for the targets. She wanted to kill at least one A rank monster. But the higher the rank of the monsters, it was that hard to find them. They also possessed the magical abilities which helped them hide and hunt.
Yuna flew towards a mountain area, where was the highest chance of finding strong monsters. Few minutes after she reached there, she was suddenly got attacked by a wyvern type monster. She flew upward to avoid getting hit and attacked the wyvern with the ice bullets. The flew fast and managed to avoid Yuna's attack.
They kept flying back and forth while fighting. Wyvern used his breath of flame to attack, while Yuna used her ice shield to block it. Yuna created a huge piece of ice and threw at the wyvern. The impact sent wyvern crashing to the ground. But it wasn't hurt much because of its tough body and scale. The wyvern looked at Yuna with fiery eyes and growled menacingly. Stomping on the ground, wyvern flew to fight Yuna.
It kept on using its combo of flame breathing to attack and claws attack simultaneously and Yuna kept dodging. She used water bullets on the wyvern but it had not much of a effect. Then she decided to use ice spears in big scale which wounded the wyvern heavily. It tried to fly away but Yuna didn't let it go and join the group.
Yuna again attacked with using ice spears which landed on wyvern head, piercing into it. Wyvern wailed in agony and pain while falling from the sky. Getting the chance, Yuna made a ice pillar with sharp top, on the ground where the wyvern was going to fall. The moment wyvern landed, the pillar pierced across the wyvern body.
Yuna came to the ground and looked at the wyvern who was dead in the pillar. She canceled/undo her spell and put the corpse inside the magic pouch. The wyvern were rare in earth and they were sold for higher price than normal monsters. Most of the wyverns were A rank while few could even reach S rank. Some part of its body used in making rare medicines, while the bones and scales were for armors and weapons.
She returned to where David was. She saw David was still practicing his magic in earnest. Now that they were done with hunting, they thought it was time they went back to the Refone city. They were very far away from the city. They had to walk or run all the way because they didn't have money to by flying car or bike. But this time Yuna had a bold idea, she grabbed David and flew towards the city.
David felt embarrassed and flustered, because he was being carried like a princess by Yuna. He just closed his eyes to avoid the awkwardness. Yuna was no different either, at first she didn't thought much about it. When she looked David who was stuck to her like a glue. And when he would make his grip tight, holding her because of fear of falling, Yuna would feel her heart beating faster. Even though both of them felt awkward, no one said anything the entire time.
One hour later, Yuna landed on the ground and let go of David. They were still few miles away from the city. They could not fly to the city, it would be a disaster if Yuna's secret of being a demon is revealed. That's why, they decided to walk forward from there. They moved navigating through the forest and rocky mountains until they reached the familiar place, the city gate.
Just like always when they were entering through the gate, a guard of the gate came to greet them. "Welcome back. You have been gone for quite a long this time. You did not encounter any trouble, did you?"
He asked with a friendly smile.
It wasn't Henry who came to greet them in the gate, it was another person who came after the sudden disappearance of Henry two weeks ago. His name was Chuck Ugen, who came here as a replacement of Henry, that's what he had said them in their first meeting.
That time, David and yuna had suspected Henry to be the person who spied on them before but now they had no way of knowing it. Because strangely enough, Henry went missing the next day and new replacement came.
