The massive pack leader, glowing with a faint white aura, towered over David and Yuna, its snarls echoing through the crumbled ruins around them. Its red eyes glowed with malevolent intent as it crouched low, preparing to strike. Every muscle in the beast's body rippled with raw power, exuding an aura of death and destruction. It was clear that this was no ordinary creature—it was a force of nature, an apex predator whose very presence demanded respect.
David and Yuna, battle-hardened by countless encounters with creatures of this desolate world, were no strangers to danger. They were ready, their senses heightened, knowing that this fight would push them beyond their limits.
Yuna smirked, her eyes glinting with excitement. "Get ready, this one looks tough," she said, her voice steady despite the looming threat.
David, feeling the adrenaline rush through his veins, nodded in agreement. His heart raced, but his mind was focused. "Let's take this thing down together."
Without wasting a second, they charged forward with blinding speed, their movements synchronized as if they were one. The pack leader roared in fury, swinging its massive claws at David, but he was too quick. His newly enhanced agility allowed him to weave effortlessly between the beast's attacks, moving like a shadow across the battlefield.
Seizing the opportunity, Yuna launched herself at the creature's side, her fist crashing into its ribs with a sickening thud. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, causing the ground beneath them to tremble. The beast staggered, its ferocious roar filled with pain and anger, but it quickly recovered, its eyes now burning with even more fury.
David darted in again, following Yuna's attack with a series of rapid punches aimed at the creature's joints and vital points. Each blow was calculated and precise, designed to weaken the beast's defenses. However, the creature was resilient, its thick hide absorbing much of the impact. It lashed out with one of its massive arms, catching David off guard. The force of the hit sent him flying through the air, crashing into a pile of rubble with a bone-rattling thud.
"David!" Yuna shouted, her voice filled with concern. She saw him slowly rising from the debris, his body bruised but still intact. The power of his gene-evolved body had protected him from serious harm.
"I'm fine!" David called back, brushing off the dust and wincing slightly. His durability had improved significantly, and he could endure much more than he ever thought possible. He quickly rejoined Yuna, his eyes filled with determination.
Yuna grinned wildly, her adrenaline fueling her every move. She was clearly enjoying the challenge, her maniacal grin showing as she toyed with the creature. David launched another barrage of punches, keeping the beast's attention on him while Yuna attacked from the sides, her movements graceful yet deadly.
The pack leader, enraged by the relentless assault, let out a guttural roar and swung its massive clawed paw in a sweeping arc. David leaped back just in time, narrowly avoiding the deadly strike. Without hesitation, he darted forward once more, delivering a powerful punch to the beast's jaw that reverberated through its body.
Yuna moved swiftly, dancing around the creature with fluidity and precision, her strikes landing on its torso and limbs. Her hits were not only strong but calculated, designed to chip away at the beast's stamina and strength. With every punch and kick, she wore the creature down, her icy blue eyes blazing with excitement.
The battle raged on, the ground quaking beneath them as their combined attacks collided with the pack leader. The surrounding ruins, already weakened from years of decay, began to crumble further under the strain of their battle.
The creature, though powerful and fierce, began to falter. Its movements became sluggish, and its growls of defiance grew weaker. Sensing its vulnerability, Yuna called out to David, "Let's finish this!"
David, sensing the same, nodded. They quickly coordinated their final attack. David charged head-on, unleashing a flurry of punches that forced the beast to focus its attention on him. With the creature distracted, Yuna gathered her strength and leaped high into the air, channeling all of her energy into one final strike. As she descended, she brought her fist down with incredible force, smashing into the beast's skull.
The impact was devastating. The creature let out a final, tortured roar before collapsing to the ground, its massive body twitching as life drained from it. The sound of its fall echoed through the landscape, and for a moment, there was nothing but silence.
David and Yuna stood amidst the carnage, their chests heaving as they caught their breath. The air was thick with the scent of blood and dust, and the ground around them was littered with the remains of their foe. The battle had been intense, but they had emerged victorious.
"That was... one hell of a fight," David said between heavy breaths, wiping sweat from his brow.
Yuna nodded, her grin finally fading as she surveyed the scene. "We can't stay here, though. With all that noise, more monsters might show up. We need to move."
David agreed. "Let's head back to the lab. I could use some rest."
Together, they began their journey back to the BioLab. The path was littered with obstacles—fallen debris, unstable structures, and remnants of past battles. Despite their fatigue, they pressed on, their pace steady and deliberate. The sun began to dip low in the sky as they walked, casting long shadows across the desolate landscape.
After several hours, the familiar sight of the BioLab came into view. They had made it back, though exhaustion weighed heavily on their bodies.
David, observing Yuna as they walked, couldn't help but notice the dried blood covering her from head to toe. Her hair was matted and stiff, her clothes stained with the blood of the monsters they had slain. He wrinkled his nose, trying to suppress a gag. "I don't know about you, but I really need a bath," David said sarcastically, trying to lighten the mood. "You smell worse than those monsters."
Yuna gave him an exasperated look but then glanced down at herself and sighed. "I think the bath is more necessary for me than for you. This is going to take forever to clean."
David chuckled, relieved to see that Yuna hadn't taken offense to his sarcasm. "You were incredible out there, Yuna," he said, his tone more sincere now. "You tore through those monsters like they were nothing."
"You weren't so bad yourself," Yuna replied, her voice softening as she smiled at him. "You've come a long way in just a few months, David. Your combat skills have improved a lot."
David felt a surge of pride at her words. "I owe it all to you," he said earnestly. "If you hadn't saved me that day, I'd be long dead by now."
Yuna's expression softened even further. "It's been quite a journey," she said quietly. "And it's only just beginning."
Once inside the BioLab, they gave each other a nod of understanding and headed to their respective quarters. They both needed a long bath and a good rest after the grueling day.
David soaked in the bath for a while, letting the warm water soothe his aching muscles. His mind wandered as he thought about what lay ahead. They could easily stay in the BioLab indefinitely, safe from the dangers of the outside world. But that wasn't what David wanted. He yearned for adventure—for the thrill of discovery and the unknown. Staying here would feel like giving up on the freedom he had gained in this strange new world.
After his bath, David lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was so much more out there waiting for him. New places to explore, new challenges to face. The lab had served its purpose, but it was time to move on.
He got up and headed to the kitchen. Yuna was already there, preparing dinner. She looked refreshed, her skin glowing after the bath, and her hair was no longer matted with blood. They ate together in comfortable silence, both of them too exhausted to talk much.
After they finished eating, David broke the silence. "Yuna, I've been thinking... We should leave the lab and start traveling. Maybe head east and see if there are any human settlements left. It's been centuries since the disaster—who knows what we might find?"
Yuna considered his words carefully. "It's possible," she said after a moment. "The eastern side of the planet might not have been as badly damaged. And you're right—it's been a long time. People might have found a way to rebuild. I couldn't leave the lab before, but now... maybe it's time."
David smiled, feeling a surge of excitement. "So we're agreed? We'll head east?"
Yuna nodded. "Yes. But it's going to take months to get there on foot. Unless..." she trailed off, a small smile playing on her lips.
David raised an eyebrow. "Unless what?"
Yuna's smile widened. "I found something in the lab while you were undergoing your gene evolution. Something that will blow your mind."
David leaned forward, his curiosity piqued. "What is it?"
Yuna shook her head, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "You'll see tomorrow. I don't want to spoil the surprise."
David groaned, though he was clearly intrigued. "Fine, fine. But you better not be messing with me."
Yuna laughed softly. "You'll thank me when you see it."
With that they went to their quarters. While sleeping, Yuna found herself in a very strange place. The place was filled with bright mystical lights, snow and ice all over. Before her was a huge castle made of ice.
In the blink of an eyes, she found herself in the throne room filled with mystical sculpture. The room itself gave majestic vibes but that was not all. There was a woman lying on the throne. She looked like a Goddess with her aura, simmering clothes, crown made of ice with intricate patterns. Yana tried to look at her face but she could not see. The moment she tried to look, she was blinded by a bright light.
"This is a surprise, I didn't expect this happening." Woman in the throne said with her enchanting and majestic voice.
Yuna had no idea what to do now, she unexpectedly ended up there after sleeping. She was worried about David, she was there but where was David? Why didn't there security and parameters work? She needed answers and there was only one person she could get it from, the person in the throne.
