Hundreds of figures emerged from behind the buildings, their forms silhouetted against the glaring midday sun. The light bounced off their armor, casting long shadows that stretched across the dusty streets.

Hange and Erwin led the charge, their calm yet commanding presence adding to the suffocating tension that filled the air. The soldiers, ready for the inevitable, exchanged wary glances—they knew what was coming, and the weight of that knowledge pressed down on them.

Hange's eyes were fixed on Eren, her breath catching in her throat as she saw the twisted grin on his face. His expression radiated a dangerous, almost unhinged confidence that left her both impressed and disturbed.

"You son of a bitch..." she muttered, a mixture of disbelief and reluctant admiration in her voice. "You really are a suicidal maniac."

Eren's chilling words still echoed in her mind, their impact sinking in deeper with every passing second.

--------------------------------------

Eren his breathing ragged, without missing a single beat, his voice low... "Hange.. I'll lure her to the main street whatever. Search every last weapon you can get our hands on... Call every soldier we've got. I'm afraid even I won't be able to defeat her..."The female titan stood Infront with her meancing grin that Eren loathed.

Hange hesitated for a moment, confusion flashing across her face. The midday heat beat down on them, making the situation feel all the more suffocating. "What do you mean?" she asked, shaking her head. " I don't think even cannons will penetrate her thick, hardened skin..."

Eren nodded, his expression serious but unwavering. "Just trust me...." he replied, his voice calm yet laced with a chilling determination.

Hange's brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of his plan. But Eren's resolve only widened, a reckless glint in his eyes that both terrified and fascinated her. He looked at her with that suicidal determination—the same look Hange both despised and admired in him.

"Very well. Don't do anything reckless...." Hange warned though she had a slight hint of what Eren was about to do. She alongside her squad and fellow scouts man retreated leaving Eren alone to fight against Annie Leonhart.

-----------------------------------

"FIREEEEEE!!!!!" Erwin's voice roared through the empty street, his commanding tone reverberating against the crumbling buildings. Annie's eyes snapped toward him, her sharp gaze locking with his sapphire stare for the briefest of moments. Confusion flashed across her face.

"What...?" she whispered, her words swallowed by the thunderous barrage that followed.

The air exploded with the deafening sounds of cannon fire, rifle blasts, explosives and the sharp hiss of hooks launching toward her nape. Annie's Titan form staggered as the barrage rained down upon her, the thin hardened plates of her skin shattering under the relentless assault.

Her agonized scream ripped through the air, a harrowing sound that seemed to freeze time as thick black smoke engulfed the battlefield.

The entire area was drowned in darkness as the smoke billowed up, blocking out the sun. The titanic form of Annie disappeared within the haze, her massive frame barely visible completely torn apart.

Erwin didn't waste a second. "Scout team, move in! Retrieve Annie—if she's still alive!" His voice cut through the chaos as he signaled a squad of soldiers forward, their bodies darting into the cloud with practiced precision.

Meanwhile, Eren stood atop a tall building, hidden amongst the horde of other scouts who offered him protection. His battered body slumped slightly, the toll of the fight evident, but he remained focused. Mikasa, Armin, and Levi were by his side, their eyes fixed on the battlefield below.

"Looks like it worked," Levi muttered, his sharp eyes narrowing as he glanced at Eren. He knew full well what Eren had been planning from the start.

"Yeah..." Eren replied, his voice barely above a whisper, each word followed by ragged breaths as his body finally settled, his strength slowly returning.

Eren let out a deep breath, a rush of steam hissing from his body as his healing powers kicked in. His wounds, once deep and jagged, began to close rapidly.

Muscles knit back together, bones realigned, tendons repaired themselves in mere moments. The process was brutal yet awe-inspiring, much like Annie's own regenerative abilities.

Eren's mind drifted back to the critical moment. When he had emerged from the tunnel, his sharp, calculating eyes had caught the subtle patterns in Annie's movements.

He had noticed the way her crystal-like armor hardened inconsistently, fluctuating as she adjusted her focus. It was then that he made his decision—he would strike when she was distracted, her defenses lowered.

A while ago she had focused on capturing him, obsessed with getting her hands on him before he could fully heal, just as she had been when she attacked Levi her mind was fully focused on killing Levi instead of keeping her defenses up. It was that same arrogance, that single-minded focus, that left her nape vulnerable.

And Eren had set the perfect trap.

Now, amidst the smoke and chaos, his plan was unfolding exactly as he had intended. Annie, overwhelmed by the barrage, had fallen right into his hands. Her desire to capture him blinded her to the danger lurking just beneath the surface—his allies, his cannons, the strike that would catch her off guard.

"She made the same mistake again," Eren muttered, his voice low as he watched the scouts move in. His eyes flickered toward Levi, who gave a slight nod in agreement.

The battlefield below was still thick with smoke, but the outcome was inevitable. Annie, relentless as she was, had underestimated Eren's resolve—just as she had done before. And now, she would pay the price.

"You didn't have to hurt yourself to get this done, you know," Levi said, disappointment evident in his voice. He knew Eren had let Annie hit him on purpose, a calculated risk to lower her guard. With Eren down and bruised, the opportunity made it easier for her to try capturing him.

Eren nodded, his expression unreadable. Mikasa's sharp intake of breath cut through the moment.

"Eren? What...? It was all intentional?" Mikasa's voice wavered, emotions flooding her. Confusion, anger, and concern warred within her as she stared at Eren. Even Armin, still shaken from Annie's earlier capture, turned his gaze to Eren, disbelief in his eyes.

Eren nodded once more, offering no further explanation. Finally, a scout arrived with ODM gear and fresh gas cylinders, which Levi swiftly strapped onto Eren, preparing him for what came next.

"It was all part of the plan." Eren said, his tone calm but distant. "Luckily, because of you two, I was able to pull it off perfectively."

Eren's cold gaze that was earlier focused on the smoke turned to Mikasa and Armin," But.... You two.... this will be your last fucking day in the scout regiment.... For defying my orders....once this shit is over I need your resignation letters on my table..." He busied himself, tightening his long leather boots, adjusting his jacket, avoiding eye contact with both Mikasa and Armin.

"But—" Mikasa began, only to be cut off by Eren's sharp command. "No time for that, Ackerman. Arlet, take her with you. Ensure the evacuation alongside the Garrison."

His voice had grown colder, authoritative. It wasn't over yet, and he knew it. The team sent to retrieve Annie still hadn't returned from the thick, heavy black smoke billowing ahead. What was taking them so long? Eren's mind raced, but his guard remained up. Meanwhile, Armin and Mikasa, their concern palpable, reluctantly moved to join the rear vanguard.

Suddenly, a shout echoed through the air. Scouts emerged from the smoke, unharmed but shaken, halting both Armin and Mikasa. "Sir! We... we can't find her. There's no sign of her. It seems she might've been killed..."

Eren's eyes narrowed. It was possible—the cannon fire and rifle shots could have easily obliterated her body on top of explosives would've burned her entirely.

"Check again," Eren ordered, his gaze shifting to Erwin, who stood deep in thought. " Scouts ensure that if she's dead or alive. We can't afford to let our guard down."

Erwin nodded in agreement, his expression unreadable. "As you say, sir!" the scouts replied before diving back into the swirling smoke.

"Oi, you two—didn't you hear him? Leave!" Levi ordered, his tone impatient as he glared at Armin and Mikasa. But while Mikasa's concern for Eren lingered, Armin was lost in thought, piecing something together, his mind churning as he stared at the smoke-filled battlefield with awe.

With a firm nod, both Armin and Mikasa released their hooks on the surrounding buildings, expertly maneuvering through the main street. They moved fast, their ODM gear whirring as they headed straight towards the rear vanguard.

Meanwhile, Eren, Erwin, Hange, Levi, and Miche stood together, keeping a wary eye on the battlefield as smoke started to settle. Eren's mind was elsewhere, still stuck on the growing tension that seemed to hang in the air.

"You motherfucker, didn't I tell you not to be reckless" Hange said with a grin, giving Eren a playful punch to the chest. Eren gave a slight nod but couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.

Miche's voice broke the silence. "We should just end it. Launch explosives and cannon fire again. If she's still in there, she won't survive."

Levi nodded in agreement, but Erwin raised a hand. "No, we need her alive. There are things we need to know." The atmosphere stood still the only noise was of the chatter between the investigation team.

However....

Thunder

A thunderstrike cracked the sky. A massive crimson lightning bolt crashed down just ahead—right on the main street where Armin and Mikasa were passing. The ground rumbled as the familiar glow enveloped the area.

"Shit!" Levi growled, his eyes darting to the street.

Eren's heart dropped. "Mikasa! Armin!" he shouted.

The two soldiers, racing down the main street, were caught off guard. They could see the lightning just a few buildings ahead. "ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" A thunderous roar filled the air as Annie Leonhart materialized once again.

"Annie…" Armin whispered in horror, his hands shaking as he fumbled to grab hold of a nearby rooftop.

"Eren!" Mikasa cried, her heart pounding as she tried to change direction. But it was too late—Annie's massive form loomed ahead, blocking their escape.

"Hngh…" Eren grunted as both Ackermans deployed their ODM gear, charging toward the impending disaster unfolding before them.

Annie's voice boomed, her massive form towering over them. "Hey, you two… where do you think you're going."

In an instant, Annie's massive fist swung towards Mikasa, who narrowly dodged it, her figure crashing onto a nearby rooftop. The impact broke the roof beneath her, and without hesitation, Annie brought her fist down again, smashing through the building like it was nothing.

"Mikasaaaaa!" Armin's scream echoed through the streets, his voice filled with horror. His eyes widened in disbelief as the house collapsed entirely under the force of Annie's punch. "What…?" Armin whispered, frozen in shock.

"You fucking monster… You're not Annie anymore. You're just a mass-murdering bitch who doesn't care about anyone!" Armin's anger boiled over, and with a furious shout, he launched his hooks at her, desperate to stop the carnage.

Annie tried to grab him, her hand swiping through the air. Armin narrowly evaded her grasp, shooting his hooks into her skin, only for them to bounce off her fully hardened armor.

He quickly recoiled his gear, landing on the ground with gritted teeth. "I'll kill you myself, Annie!" he growled through clenched teeth, his blades gleaming as he prepared to face her head-on.

But Annie was too fast. Before Armin could react, her massive hand reached out to snatch him in midair. His rage had blinded him, and now he found himself staring death in the face once more.

Just as he was about to meet his end, Mikasa's voice cut through the chaos. "Get out of the way!" With a sudden burst of strength, Mikasa shoved Armin aside, taking his place in Annie's crushing grip.

"ARGHHHHHHHHHH!" Mikasa's scream ripped through the air as Annie's hardened hand tightened around her body, squeezing the life out of her.

Blood began to drip from Mikasa's mouth, splattering onto Annie's crystalline fingers as her grip grew tighter by the second. Mikasa's eyes fluttered shut, her body beginning to go limp.

"MIKASAAAAAA!" Eren's voice broke, his mind spiraling into a storm of agony and rage. His heart pounded, his thoughts clouded, his vision narrowing on Mikasa as she seemed to slip away from him. It was as if he had seen this scene play out a thousand times before—a nightmare he could never escape.

The sight of Mikasa's near-lifeless form sparked something primal within him. His body moved on instinct. Without hesitation, Eren bit down on his hand.

The Attack Titan burst forth, its emerald eyes blazing with uncontainable fury. One of its hands, wrapped in searing scarlet flames, grabbed Annie's arm, the same arm that had been crushing Mikasa. The other hand remained normal punching Annie's hardened face, as Eren's rage fueled his strength.

"Ughhh…" Annie grunted as Eren's fiery hand tightened around her arm, forcing her to release Mikasa. In one swift motion, Levi swooped in, catching Mikasa before retreating to the tall wall of Sina for cover. His expression was grim as he made his way to safety, but there was no time to dwell—Eren was still in the fight.

With a growl, Eren pushed Annie aside, his fury unrelenting. He punched her again and again, each strike sending shockwaves through the air, rattling the streets. But every punch also shattered Eren's own hand, the pain barely registering in the haze of his rage.

Armin, seeing the relentless assault, quickly followed Levi, while the other scouts charged toward Annie, determined to end this battle once and for all.

"Bastard…" Annie muttered, her voice laced with frustration as Eren continued his onslaught, refusing to back down despite the toll it was taking on his own body.

Eren's hands, mangled beyond recognition, throbbed with excruciating pain, yet he pressed on. Now, using his elbows, he struck Annie with wild fury, his rage propelling him forward, his roars echoing through the broken streets.

His voice, hoarse and cracked, sounded more like a beast than a man. For a fleeting second, something broke in Annie's usually cold gaze—fear. Fear of the unrelenting rage that threatened to consume her.

But Annie wasn't one to back down easily. With a calculated move, she swung hard, landing a devastating punch. Eren flew back, crashing into the debris, his titan form barely holding together.

The scouts swarmed in, slashing at her hardened body, but it was futile. She moved away from Eren, pushing back the attackers with brutal precision.

Amidst the chaos, Eren, against all expectations, did something no one saw coming. He turned away from the fight. His titan body, battered and bleeding, disintegrated as he sprinted toward the towering Wall Sina. Levi had already carried Mikasa and Armin to safety atop the wall, but Eren's mind was clouded with one agonizing thought—Mikasa.

Tears stung his eyes, but not from pain as he abandoned his titan body near the looming wall. His heart hammered in his chest, his breathing ragged as he pushed the limits of his ODM gear.

The world around him blurred. His only focus was the sight of Mikasa, limp and broken, burned into his memory like a curse. His throat tightened as if every breath he took was a battle to keep himself from shattering completely.

The wall seemed impossibly tall, like it was mocking him. Each second he spent climbing felt like a lifetime. But finally, when he reached the top, his heart nearly stopped.

Mikasa lay there, still, her skin pale, her lips stained with blood. Her chest rose and fell with shallow breaths, but to Eren, she looked so small, so fragile, as if she could fade away at any moment.

Her usually loving, determined eyes were closed, her body too weak to even fight. The sight tore something deep inside him.

Throwing away his ODM gear in desperation, Eren fell to his knees beside her. His hands trembled as they touched her arms, and with a soft grunt, he lowered his head to her chest, pressing his ear against her, listening. His whole world stopped as he waited for that one sound—her heartbeat.

The soft, steady thrum of her pulse was the only thing tethering him to sanity, the only thing that kept him from breaking. Tears streamed down his face, his teeth clenched. His chest heaved, his throat aching as he fought to hold back the sobs threatening to escape. He couldn't lose her. Not now. Not ever.

Levi, standing a few feet away, watched with an unreadable expression, though his eyes softened."Oi, don't worry. She's tough. Annie only cracked a few ribs. She'll recover. She's not going anywhere," he said, knowing what was gonna happen next, but Eren wasn't listening.

Eren lifted his head, his face twisted in a mixture of guilt, sorrow, and anger. His voice was hoarse, breaking with every word. "She's hurt… and it's all my fault… I couldn't protect her…"

He gently gathered Mikasa into his arms, his fingers brushing over her cheek, wiping away the blood smeared there. His thumb traced the deep cut along her face, and he felt like he was going to fall apart.

Her head rested against his chest, her breaths faint but there, and that was all that mattered now.

"Why won't you ever listen to me… just once… I told you to get away from here…" His voice trembled, tears blurring his vision as he looked down at her.

She looked so peaceful, as if none of the hell they had been through had touched her. But he knew better. Her silence, her stillness—it broke him more than anything ever had.

As he held her, something shifted in him. The pain in his hands, the battle raging below, all of it faded away. All he could feel was the raw, overwhelming terror of almost losing her.

For so long, he had fought for some vague idea of freedom—freedom from the walls, from the titans, from the nightmare they lived in. But what he didn't realize was that his freedom had always been by his side. And all he ever did was push her away for something else.

And now that he understood that, he realized something even more terrifying. He couldn't let anyone, not Annie, not anyone, take her away from him. He would tear down the world itself to protect her, to keep her by his side. The thought of her slipping away, of her never waking up—it was unbearable.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, his lips brushing against her temple. "I'm so sorry, Mikasa…"

His grip on her tightened as he looked over at Levi, his emerald eyes catching a hint of blue. " Don't....." Levi muttered but he knew it was futile.

"See you later... Mikasa..." Eren whispered, his voice barely a breath as he pressed his lips against her bloodied cheek. The warmth of her skin against his lips felt like a lifeline, and he slowly lowered her form to the ground, allowing her to rest.

Sigh...
