Chapter 140 - Chapter 140

"Retreat!"

The leader of Team A immediately shouted, commanding everyone to fall back. The squid-like creature was far beyond what they could handle.

However, the monstrous squid wasn't willing to let its prey escape. It relentlessly swung its tentacles, trying to capture anything within reach.

"Moooo!"

Suddenly, the massive buffalo-like beast, which had been restrained by the squid's tentacles, let out a furious bellow. It had enough of the squid's grip, so it turned and charged straight at the giant cephalopod!

Despite the squid being over 20 meters tall—towering over the buffalo-like creature—the force of the charge sent the squid flying across the riverbank. When it landed, its tentacles flailed wildly in disarray, a comically pathetic sight for such a formidable beast.

But the squid creature was enraged. It responded by spraying scalding ink in the buffalo's direction. The buffalo, surprisingly agile for its massive size, dodged the attack with ease, showing incredible speed.

Watching from a distance, the task force members, who had safely retreated for now, couldn't resist capturing the battle on camera. This was a real monster fight—an extraordinary occurrence and valuable data for research.

Just as they thought the fight was reaching its peak, another surprise emerged.

The river erupted once more, as a colossal creature surfaced and, with a single snap of its jaws, swallowed both the squid and buffalo in one gulp. The new monster resembled a crocodile but was far larger and more grotesque, with a different, more fearsome appearance.

Unfortunately, before anyone could get a clear look at the creature, it plunged back into the river, vanishing beneath the surface.

This sudden twist left the task force bewildered. They hadn't expected a third monster to be lurking beneath the water, and now, they were fully aware of how dangerous this island truly was—teeming with unknown and terrifying creatures.

"Squawk! Squawk!"

Just then, the skies filled with loud, piercing cries.

Above them, they spotted a flock of massive, bat-like creatures with vulture-like heads, descending upon the task force.

"Run!"

The soldiers scrambled into the forest, hoping the trees would slow down the incoming attackers. But they underestimated the speed of the flying creatures. Some of the soldiers were snatched up before they could even reach the treeline, leaving only trails of blood behind.

These monsters were incredibly agile, weaving through the dense forest with ease. The task force had no choice but to fight back, opening fire as they ran.

After suffering some losses, they managed to kill a few of the creatures and found a brief moment of safety. But now they faced another problem—they were lost in the vast jungle. Their GPS devices were no longer functioning, leaving them stranded with no clear direction.

"Growl... growl..."

As the team moved cautiously through the jungle, ominous growls echoed from all directions, forcing them to stop and prepare for another battle.

At least one silver lining remained—they still had plenty of ammunition left to defend themselves.

From the shadows of the forest, a pack of creatures that resembled wolves emerged. However, these were no ordinary wolves. They were larger, more menacing, and their backs bristled with sharp, blade-like protrusions.

The wolf-like monsters eyed the task force with a predatory gleam, as if savoring the thought of their next meal.

"Damn it!"

The leader of Team A prepared to give the order to fire.

Boom!

Before he could react, the ground began to tremble with deep, reverberating thuds.

The tremors grew louder and more frequent, causing the task force to look around nervously. What could possibly be approaching now?

Even the wolf-like monsters, which had been ready to attack, suddenly froze. Fear filled their eyes as they glanced toward the source of the sound.

Curiosity getting the better of them, the task force also turned to look.

What they saw would be etched into their memories forever.

Two enormous creatures, each over 50 meters tall, stood towering above the trees, facing off against one another.

One appeared to be a lizard, but its pale, lifeless skin revealed parts of its skeleton beneath, making it look like a walking corpse. The other was a massive black gorilla, its muscular body covered in thick fur.

Despite their differences, both creatures exuded a terrifying presence.

The previous monsters the task force had encountered now seemed minuscule in comparison. The ground-shaking tremors had been caused by these two behemoths as they approached each other.

"My God..."

One of the task force members whispered, utterly stunned by the sheer size of the creatures. There was no way their firepower could ever match these titans.

Without warning, the gorilla and the skeletal lizard lunged at each other, engaging in a brutal, primal battle. Their punches and bites shook the very earth, and their sheer strength sent shockwaves through the surrounding forest, toppling trees like matchsticks.

The wolf-like creatures immediately fled, unwilling to stay and become collateral damage.

The task force, too, wasted no time and retreated as quickly as possible.

Back in the viewing world, audiences everywhere were in awe of the island's terrifying inhabitants.

Luffy: "Wow! Monsters! That looks so awesome!"

Gen: "Hey, what's so exciting about that?"

Nami: "Ugh, he's always like that. Don't mind him."

Dan: "An island full of monsters, huh? They don't seem as strong as the ones in our world."

Kizaru: "I wonder how they compare to the Sea Kings. Size-wise, they're much smaller than the creatures in the Calm Belt."

Garp: "Size doesn't mean strength. Some of those Sea Kings are over a thousand meters long, but one punch from me, and they're done."

Nick Fury: "Wait, what? You have thousand-meter monsters where you come from? That's insane!"

Naruto: "I wonder how they'd stack up against Kurama."

Diana: "Let's not get bogged down in comparisons. What I really want to know is, why is this island an infinite space?"

The Ancient One: "It's possible that this was created to trap these monsters and keep them contained."

Doctor Strange: "Who could have the power to do that? Could you, Ancient One?"

The Ancient One: "I'm afraid not. It would take a force beyond even my abilities."

At this point, she considered the power of the Space Stone. Perhaps, with such an artifact, she might be able to create an infinite space, but not otherwise.

"Through the task force's investigation, we've come to understand what this island truly is—an island filled with monstrous creatures. And the variety and number of these monsters far exceed what we ever imagined."
