Chapter 139 - Chapter 139

"Infinite Skull Island?" Tony Stark immediately perked up, his curiosity piqued as he watched the screen, eager to learn more about this strange new anomaly.

"This island is unlike any other. It seems to materialize out of nowhere. When we received reports of the island's sudden appearance, we knew it was an abnormal phenomenon. As a precaution, we sealed off the surrounding air, land, and sea routes to ensure no one could approach while we conducted our investigation," the voice on the screen explained.

"We first dispatched a task force to investigate the island. But as soon as they set foot on it, something completely unexpected happened."

"This is Team A. We can't leave the island!" came a distressed voice over the radio.

"What do you mean, you can't leave? You've only just landed," the base commander responded, baffled. According to the GPS, the team had only just made landfall and should have been near the shore.

"It's true! Look at the live feed!" The video feed showed the team surrounded by a dense, endless jungle, despite having just stepped onto the beach. This was bizarre; they hadn't moved far from the shore, yet they were somehow deep in a forest.

No matter how they tried to retrace their steps, the team couldn't seem to break free from the jungle. The anomaly was immediately flagged as a high priority by the Foundation, prompting more task force units to be dispatched.

However, every team that set foot on the island encountered the same phenomenon. As soon as they stepped onto the shore, the ocean behind them vanished, replaced by an endless expanse of jungle. No matter how far they walked, they could never find the coastline again.

This strange and unsettling behavior caused panic among the task force members.

"After further research, the Foundation discovered that the island's mechanics were tied to its spatial anomalies. Once inside, the space expanded infinitely, making it nearly impossible to escape. However, through more rigorous testing, they found that escape was possible by taking to the skies. If the GPS could still pick up the team's signal, helicopters could extract them from above."

With the knowledge that they could leave via air, the task force members breathed a collective sigh of relief and continued their mission to investigate the island.

Tony Stark: "So you can leave by air, huh? Looks like the infinite space doesn't extend into the sky."

Diana: "It certainly seems easier to escape than that Ikea store."

Sengoku: "But what could be on such an island? Another creation of some deity, perhaps?"

Loki: "Damn it, are these anomalies just crawling with gods? And they can create infinite spaces too?"

The Ancient One: "You're being too cynical. Our world also has its share of deities."

Nick Fury: "Really? Care to elaborate?"

The Ancient One: "It's a long story—too long for now. Let's focus on the screen."

Sanji: "Skull Island... It looks like an ancient forest. Why do they call it Skull Island?"

Everyone's curiosity grew as they continued watching the screen.

As the task force ventured deeper into the island, they discovered that most of the flora was comprised of long-extinct plant species. This meant that the island was a prehistoric relic, a massive discovery for the field of archaeology.

While the task force took notes and reported their findings, they remained on high alert, ready for anything. So far, their journey had been surprisingly safe. The only real threats were the island's poisonous plants.

After some time, the team decided to rest by a riverbank. Everything seemed normal at first, just a standard break. However, what happened next caught everyone off guard.

Suddenly, a seemingly ordinary coral reef by the river began to rise, and from beneath it emerged a massive, 10-meter-tall creature that resembled a buffalo but was far more muscular and imposing.

"Moo..." The beast let out a low, guttural sound, turning to look at the startled task force members.

"Prepare yourselves!" the team leader ordered, and all the soldiers immediately aimed their automatic rifles at the beast, ready for combat.

At that moment, the air was thick with tension. Everyone was on edge, unsure of what to make of this strange creature. Their hearts raced as they awaited its next move.

But the buffalo-like creature didn't seem to care about the humans. It glanced at them briefly before turning away and casually starting to graze.

"It's... herbivorous?" the team leader murmured, still holding his weapon steady, unwilling to drop his guard.

Suddenly, the creature's head jerked upward, and its previously placid eyes filled with fear.

Without warning, the beast turned and began to run.

Before the task force could process what was happening, the calm river erupted as several massive tentacles shot out of the water, grabbing a few of the task force members and dragging them beneath the surface.

More tentacles appeared, this time latching onto the buffalo-like creature, wrapping around its body in a tight grip.

However, the buffalo monster was massive and incredibly strong, and the tentacles struggled to pull it under.

"Mooooo!" the buffalo roared in anger, resisting the tentacles' pull with all its might, even managing to drag the tentacles toward the shore.

The river exploded in a geyser of water, and out emerged an enormous squid-like monster. Its body had some features of an octopus, but it was unlike any sea creature known to man. It was truly a nightmarish sight.

The squid-like creature, seemingly enraged by the buffalo's resistance, began thrashing its tentacles wildly, attacking both the buffalo and the task force.

"Open fire!" the team leader ordered, and the soldiers unleashed a hail of bullets at the squid monster.

However, the creature's strange body structure caused the bullets to simply slide off, doing little to no damage. No matter how heavy the firepower, it had no effect on the monster.

"Fwoosh!"

In the next moment, the squid monster sprayed a massive cloud of ink. But this wasn't ordinary ink—it was boiling hot.

Even before the ink made contact, the surrounding air became blisteringly hot.

"Sssss!"

As the scalding ink touched the task force members' uniforms, it began to burn like fire, scorching their clothes and leaving charred marks. The ink had an insanely high temperature, making it an incredibly deadly weapon.
