It was almost a full month and Felix was still dating Psalm. No one knew but Ada, and Psalm's friends–he said they could be trusted–and it was peaceful. His parents also never called him back, texting him that they were fine and to focus on school.
Felix and Psalm were spending so much time together that at one point, Ada asked him when he was going to tell Psalm that he liked him. Psalm was the one who said it first, but he never pressured Felix to do anything, which he was grateful for. But Felix knew that Psalm must want to know how he feels. Luckily for him, Felix was no more scared and was ready to say the words one night.
It was at night when Felix was studying for an incoming test when Psalm called. It was a video call, and that made him smile because he missed seeing Psalm's face. Even though they'd seen each other the other day.
"Hi."
Felix smiled. "Hey. Good evening."
Psalm looked like he was sitting on a chair, but Felix couldn't see much in the dark setting, only his face. "Am I interrupting? I just remembered that you're studying for a test."
Felix shrugged. "I'm studying, but this is something that I've done like a million times. Taking a call wouldn't hurt."
Psalm grinned. "Alright."
"Exams don't start till a few more weeks," Felix said. "Are you studying? Or are you one of those rich kids that use their money to fix everything?"
Psalm chuckled. "Well… I don't always use money to sort myself out."
Felix gave him a look that made him burst into full blown laughter.
"I know it's wrong and that's why I don't do it anymore…not like that. I study nowadays."
Felix didn't believe him. "Really."
"Really. You're a good influence on me."
Felix still remained doubtful. "Whatever you say."
Psalm suddenly cleared his throat. "I wanted to say something…or ask something."
"Go on."
Usually he's the one asking questions, but since he'd gotten a bit comfortable and secure, he did so occasionally. Whenever he felt it necessary.
"Do you like me?"
Felix was surprised.
Psalm looked a bit unsure. "I mean, I assume that you do, but…I'd just rather you tell me."
If this was a while back, he would've had a problem with the question and be extremely uncomfortable. But it was different. He'd wanted to tell him earlier anyway.
"I do," he answered. "For a while now. But I never said it because… Well, you know."
Psalm nodded, a small smile on his face, but Felix guessed that he probably wasn't done.
"If, I, um, asked you something. If I asked you if, or whether you'd like to be my boyfriend, what would you say?"
Felix's eyes definitely widened now. He did not expect that. And Psalm got more nervous when he saw the reaction on his face, which wasn't Felix's intention.
Psalm was never nervous that it was too visible or affected anything or anybody, but now…it seemed things were different. The good thing was that Felix had an answer to his question. And a good one, too.
"Yes. I'll be your boyfriend.''
It took Psalm a few seconds to accept her answer and then grin from ear-to-ear. He almost looked like an excited kid who got his favorite candy about to jump from his chair.
"Well?" Felix probed.
"Are you serious?" Psalm asked. "You're not saying this just because, right?"
Felix raised a hand, a smile on his face. "I promise. I mean it. I like you and I want to be your boyfriend."
"You know…you just made my night."
"You made my night, too," Felix said, feeling giddy. "I didn't expect it, but my answers are honest."
"So…should I call you baby, boo, babe, honey–which do you prefer?''
Felix rolled his eyes. "Shut up, Psalm."
"Maybe we could talk more about this tomorrow?" He continued, "What about…sexy?"
Felix's face went red to Psalm's amusement. "Shut up!"
They were both happy and excited about this new development in their relationship. It was something that Felix never expected, but wasn't against. Being Psalm's boyfriend sounded really nice.
"I know you probably want to read more or sleep, so I'll let you. It's midnight."
Felix nodded. He never even noticed. "Yeah, you're right."
"Goodnight…boyfriend," Psalm said, a sweet smile on his face as he looked at Felix.
Felix knew he just had to say it back and he did so happily. "Goodnight, boyfriend."
He didn't know what the next days held, but he found himself feeling a bit carefree. Most likely because he had Psalm, his first. It didn't matter whether it would last forever or not, it was just enough for him that he was cared for and happy. Really happy.
