Chapter 9 - 9

I got super rich, and all sorts of small-time crooks came out of the woodwork.

First in line were my grandparents, whom I hadn't contacted for more than ten years.

They made outrageous demands, the villa, the luxury car, and even the driver and maid to provide them with top-notch life "We've raised you for all these years; this is what we deserve," they pontificated, "If you don't give it, we'll expose you online!" they threatened me.

What a joke! Was I still afraid of threats? I told them that they could forget about the villa, the luxury car, the driver, and the maid.

All I could provide was a few thousand dollars each month. Take it or leave it, and if there's any fuss, there'll be nothing at all.

They complained, but they still compromised.

Clearly, they all understood that I was no longer the easy-to-manipulate girl I used to be! 34 After sending them away, Andrew had the audacity to show up at my doorstep.

He begged for rekindling our relationship while wildly hinting that I help him with the concert. "Rekindling our relationship? Do you take me to a dustbin for rubbish? What gives you the confidence and courage? You should look at yourself in the mirror.

Even without a mirror, there's always urine, right?"

"By the way, do you seriously consider your songs could be popular? The songs are as rubbish as you! In the past, I was just being considerate of your pride, too embarrassed to speak the truth.

Dreaming of being like Michael Jackson and holding concerts worldwide? You have an inflated view of yourself!" Thinking back on the past with him now only made me feel disgusted.

He destroyed my dreams of love and shattered my illusions about human nature.

The only time I've ever felt a pang in my heart in my life was trampled by this bastard, leaving a mark of humiliation! 35 Several years later, I married a man from a comparable noble family.

He didn't love me, and I didn't love him either, yet our union was the most suitable.

A few days before the wedding, a young woman published a post online.

She cradled a baby and accused the baby's father fiercely. "I bore his child, yet he is going to marry another woman."

"I knew I was unworthy of him, but I still helplessly fell into this."

"My feelings were complex when I found out I was pregnant, but I eventually decided to bring this child into the world."

"From the moment I saw my baby, I knew I had done the right thing. This adorable child was the best gift heaven had bestowed upon me."

"No matter what, I will raise her well up. I will show her through my actions how much I love her."

"…" The tragedy is repeating itself. I knew that another fierce battle was about to be unleashed...
