Chapter 45 - Ch:45

As Raika walked towards the academy, she suddenly heard a familiar voice. Turning to the side, she saw Guardian Ranger Mark waving at her from his wheelchair.

"Hey, Raika, long time no see!" Mark called out, his right arm enthusiastically waving.

Raika's eyes widened in surprise. "Woah, you're alright!" she exclaimed, her face lighting up with relief.

Mark chuckled, a playful glint in his eyes. "Yep, I am. Got out pretty quickly. I'm strong, after all," he said, flexing his arm with a grin.

Raika smiled warmly, her earlier worries momentarily forgotten. "Where's the rest of the team?" she asked, glancing around for the other Rangers.

"They're still in the hospital," Mark replied, his tone light despite the news. "But don't worry, they'll be out soon enough. We're a tough bunch."

Raika nodded, her respect for Mark and the rest of the team growing. "It's so good to see you, Mark. I missed you all," she said sincerely.

Mark's smile softened. "We missed you too, Raika. The academy wasn't the same without you."

Raika smiled and said, "Thanks, Mark." Suddenly, she felt a pair of hands tap her shoulders from behind.

"Raika, where have you been?" Mia shouted playfully, creeping up on her.

Startled, Raika jumped a little, her eyes wide. Mark burst into laughter, and Mia joined in, clearly enjoying the moment. Raika could only manage an awkward smile, her surprise evident.

"You guys," she said, shaking her head, but a genuine warmth spread across her face, glad to be back with her friends.

Raika barely had time to recover from Mia's surprise when she heard more voices approaching. Lina came sprinting, shouting, "Where have you been?" Fay was right behind her, yelling, "We miss you!" Lay, not wanting to be left out, ran full speed ahead, calling out, "My princess!"

In his excitement, Lay tripped over his own feet and went sprawling to the ground in a spectacularly clumsy fashion. He slid a few feet before coming to a stop, looking dazed but unhurt.

Mark and Mia doubled over with laughter, while Fay and Lina tried to stifle their giggles. Even Raika couldn't help but chuckle at Lay's overly enthusiastic but endearing display.

"Lay, you really know how to make an entrance," Raika said, smiling warmly at her fallen friend.

Lay sat up, rubbing his head with a sheepish grin. "Just wanted to make sure you felt welcome," he said, causing another round of laughter among the group.

As the laughter subsided, Katsuya approached with a smirk on his face. He walked up to Raika and said, "Good to have you back, Raika."

Raika smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest at the sight of her friends. "Thanks, Katsuya. It's good to be back."

After that, Raika glanced around and said, "As you all know..."

Before she could finish, Mia and Lina moved closer and hugged her tightly. "Don't worry about it. We know your identity, and it doesn't matter," Mia said reassuringly.

Raika smiled warmly, feeling a sense of relief wash over her.

Fay stepped forward and added with a thumbs up, "You are more than our friend; you are our best friend."

Lay, recovering from his fall, gave a wide smile and said, "That's our princess, all right!"

Katsuya hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up. "I am sorry for what I have done to you in the past," he said, bowing deeply.

Raika smiled and replied, "Forget about it. It's just a misunderstanding. Besides, the past is the past, right?"

The whole group laughed, breaking the tension, and soon Katsuya joined in the laughter too. The atmosphere was filled with relief and camaraderie as they all shared a light-hearted moment together.

As they walked inside the academy hallway, the other students murmured amongst themselves.

"Is she really a cyborg?" one student whispered.

"I don't know, looks human to me," another replied, squinting in Raika's direction.

"Maybe she's a mix of cyborg and human," another speculated.

"Shut up! At least she saved us," a voice cut through the murmurs, silencing the gossip with a tone of respect.

Raika and her friends continued walking, the whispers fading into the background as they moved forward, united and unfazed by the curious stares.

Suddenly, they found themselves in the gathering place within the big hallway inside the school. All the students had lined up, saluting Raika in unison.

"For our savior, Cyborg 001, Raika!" they chanted in a single, powerful voice.

Raika's eyes widened in shock. She was guided up to the stage, where the teachers were waiting with a badge for her bravery. As they pinned it on her, she glanced around, overwhelmed by the unexpected honor.

Mia, Lina, and all the other students bowed their heads and kneeled to the floor. In perfect synchronization, they declared, "We will follow you as your leader, Viper Rangers!"

Raika's face turned a deep shade of red with embarrassment. She stammered, "You guys..."

The room was filled with admiration and respect, yet Raika couldn't help but feel both touched and flustered by the grand gesture.

As Raika turned her head towards the other teachers, she noticed they were all saluting her as well. She gave a hesitant salute back, her movements stiff and awkward.

"Um, thank you?" she said, her voice wavering.

The teachers remained serious, their expressions unwavering. Raika's awkwardness only grew as she tried to maintain the formal gesture. She shifted from foot to foot, clearly out of her element.

Mark, observing from the side, couldn't help but chuckle. "Looks like someone's not used to the spotlight," he whispered to Mia.

Mia grinned and replied, "She's adorable when she's flustered."

Raika, hearing their whispers, blushed even more. She attempted to straighten her posture, but ended up almost losing her balance. The students and teachers alike tried to stifle their laughter, creating a ripple of amused smiles throughout the hall.

"Oh, come on," Raika muttered under her breath, trying to compose herself but failing to hide her own shy smile.

The whole scene, a mix of heartfelt admiration and Raika's endearing awkwardness, was a funny and memorable moment for everyone watching.

Raika took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment. She looked out at the sea of faces, seeing not just students and teachers, but friends and comrades who had stood by her. With a mixture of nerves and determination, she began to speak.

"Thank you, everyone," she started, her voice steadying as she spoke. "I never expected to be standing here, in front of all of you, being called a savior. But it wasn't just me. It was all of us. Each one of you played a part in protecting our school, our city, and our future."

She paused, looking around the room, making eye contact with as many people as she could. "We faced challenges together, and we overcame them together. Yes, I'm a cyborg, but more importantly, I'm one of you. We are all part of this community, and our strength comes from our unity."

Raika's eyes shone with sincerity. "It's easy to feel like you're just one small piece in a big machine, but every piece matters. Every one of you matters. You have your own strengths, your own abilities, and together, we make an unstoppable team."

She took another deep breath, feeling more confident. "I want you to remember that no matter what challenges come our way, we can face them together. We can support each other, lift each other up, and achieve greatness as a team. Let's continue to protect what we love and strive to make our world a better place."

Raika smiled warmly, her heart full. "Thank you for your trust, your bravery, and your friendship. Let's keep moving forward, together."

The room erupted in applause, the sound of cheering echoing through the hall. Raika felt a surge of pride and gratitude. She knew that, with these people by her side, they could face anything.

As the ceremony came to a close, the atmosphere in the academy was electric with renewed energy and respect for Raika. The students, once murmuring skeptics, now looked at her with admiration and pride. The applause and cheers had faded, but the impact of the ceremony lingered in the air.

Students who had once been distant now approached Raika with genuine smiles and handshakes, expressing their gratitude and support. "You were incredible up there, Raika," one student said, giving her a respectful nod. "I'm glad you're back with us."

Raika's face, flushed with the earlier embarrassment, now glowed with a warm smile. She felt the weight of her role as a leader settling comfortably on her shoulders. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I'm just happy to be back and to be part of this team."

The teachers, too, showed their appreciation. Satori and Arina approached her with congratulatory pats on the back. "You did a wonderful job, Raika," Satori said, his smile genuine. "You've earned the respect of everyone here."

Arina nodded in agreement. "You've shown real leadership and courage. We're proud to have you back."

As Raika walked through the hallways, she noticed how the students made way for her with nods and smiles. The whispers that had once questioned her now spoke of respect and acknowledgment. She felt a renewed sense of belonging and purpose.

When she finally met up with Mia, Lina, Fay, Lay, and Katsuya, they greeted her with enthusiastic hugs and cheers. "You were amazing, Raika!" Lina said, her eyes sparkling with admiration.

Lay, still playful, added, "Our princess has returned and shown us all how it's done!"

Raika laughed, feeling a deep sense of belonging. "Thank you, everyone. I couldn't have done it without all of you."

With the ceremony behind them, Raika felt a profound sense of respect and camaraderie from her peers. The challenges ahead seemed a bit less daunting with the support and admiration she now enjoyed. She walked forward with a heart full of gratitude and a renewed commitment to her friends and her mission.

As the ceremony concluded and the crowd began to disperse, a familiar, hurried voice echoed through the hallway. "Sorry, I'm late!"

Nana came running into view, tears streaming down her face. She rushed toward Raika and enveloped her in a tight hug. "Raika, you're alright!" she sobbed, her voice trembling with emotion.

Raika, taken aback by Nana's sudden outburst, gently patted her head with an awkward smile. "There, there, Nana. I'm fine. Just a bit overwhelmed, that's all."

Mia, Lina, and the rest of the group looked on, their faces lit up with amused smiles. "Looks like Nana missed you a lot," Lina said, chuckling.

Fay nudged Lay playfully. "Seems like she's making up for lost time!"

Raika's smile grew more genuine as she looked around at her friends. She felt a wave of warmth and gratitude for their support. Despite the earlier awkwardness, she was comforted by the fact that she was surrounded by people who cared about her.

"Thank you, everyone," Raika said, her voice filled with sincerity. "It really means a lot."

Nana, still clinging to Raika, sniffled and wiped her tears. "I just wanted to be here for you, Raika. I missed you so much."

Raika squeezed Nana gently, her heart swelling with appreciation for her friends' unwavering support. "I missed you too, Nana. I'm glad we're all together again."

As the group gathered around, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie, marking a new chapter of unity and respect among them.
