Kassandra's POV
I put it back and took my seat again. Her majesty raises her hand and brushes the hair of his son.
"Time really flies so fast. I still remember when all of you were still babies until you became a kid. All of you love to play with me and your dad. You keep on following us and copying our movements," the queen says. All of their children cough and look embarrassed because of what their mom says.
"You are right, honey. Do you remember when Celeste was born? Her big brothers and I were walking back and forth outside the room. I still remember the servant's reaction. They seem to be tired of watching us," the king says. I've done my part. I continue eating with ease.
"Ah, yes! I remember when Celeste held Lukas and Kalix's fingers. They're both crying. Celeste is the first princess of this country. Have you remembered, hon, when Celeste fell on the swing? Gregory slipped on the ground, and she landed on his back," the queen continued.
"Mum! I didn't do such things!" Princess Celeste says.
"I also remember when Candice was born. Mom and dad were surprised as soon as they got home when they saw the princes wearing dresses and playing tea house with the two of you. Big Brother Arnold was carrying Ava at the time. She's just one year old at that time," Prince Alexander says. My husband speaks. I hope they'll reply to his statement.
"Big Brother Avion was also singing because Candice requested certain nursery rhymes. Mom and dad were laughing instead of helping us that time," Kalix says.
"Mom even called the royal painter and asked him to make a portrait while we were wearing those dresses!" Prince Dylan shared.
I'm glad they didn't act cold when my husband spoke. They continue talking to each other about the past. I look at the betrothed ladies of the six princes.
"I heard that you are planning to open a school for girls who want to play piano, Lady Lilia. It looks like your love of music has its reasons," I commented. She looks at me and smiles.
"Actually, it's Prince Avion who taught me how to play the piano, Lady Kassandra. I was swayed by the songs he was playing when I first met him when I was 10. That's the first time that my parents took me to the summer ball that Queen Avira hosted at that time," Lady Lilia says. I smiled.
"Oohh. Well, I can't blame you. You heard the song that I hummed, right? His Majesty's music makes you reminisce about beautiful memories, right?" I ask.
Lady Lilia nodded, and her prince was flustered because of how his woman praised him. "His song is the best!" she proudly added.
"For a general that has been in multiple battles and wars, you seem to know a lot," Lady Kaya says. I look at her.
"Kind of. I heard from Aunt Therese that you love reading books in different schools for children. Can I come with you one of these days? I love children, actually. I also teach children how to write in the villages that once became a colony of Altas Kingdom," I stated. I even smile sincerely.
She blinks. "I'll take that as a yes. I'll wait for your invitation letter, Lady Kaya. I'm excited for that day!"
I showed her how happy I was for her not to say no because everyone was listening. Arida showed her head a little and hid. I guess she realizes that we're still eating. I stood up.
"Please excuse me for a moment, your majesties and beautiful ladies. I need to speak with my vice general. It will be quick," I stated.
I bow my head and leave. I went to where Arida was hiding. I made sure they could still see me. Arida handed me a letter. I opened it. It's from Captain Klauss.
'Greetings, general Escalante. I wrote this letter to inform you that we are doing okay here in the Borderlands. Altas Kingdom was still silent, and we made sure that we would keep everyone safe. I just want to inform you that we need military supplies as well as the two villages that are having an epidemic because of contaminated water. I hope we can hear from you soon. Sincerely, Captain Klauss.'
I look at Arida. "I will speak with you later on. Tell Uncle Joseph to gather all the things that are needed for the resupply mission. We have the same case like we faced in Easton, but this time it's two villages." I halted and held my chin.
"Prepare the medicines we need as well. I will be at our military headquarters after this. Wait for me there after you speak with your father, understood?" I added.
She bowed her head and walked away. I fold the letter and keep it inside my sleeve. I have to prepare for the money that I need to spend on buying food and medicine supplies that we'll send to the borderlands. I also have to consider some other things. I need to consider the dangers of that journey.
I went back to my table and smiled. "What happened, Kassandra?" King Calixto asks if I told them about the letter I received.
I look at Princess Ava's hand. I stood up and stood behind her chair. I bent over and held her palm.
"Is this from the needles and sewing machines that you are using, Princess Ava?" I ask.
She didn't answer and tried to shove my hand away, but I held on tight. Her palm had so many cuts and calluses. It's also rough. I look at the head maid.
"Aunt Dina, would you mind taking the brown box into my room? The one in front of my dresser, please?"
"Understood, milady," she says.
I look at Princess Ava and smile. "A young lady who has these pristine hands needs better care than no other, Princess. But! This is proof of your struggles and efforts while doing the things that you love, right?" I complimented.
She looks away, but her cheeks are blushing. As soon as Aunt Dina came back, I opened the box she was holding. I grabbed the cream that I needed.
I opened them and started applying them to her cut. She groans. I raise her hand a little and blow her palm. It took me minutes until I fully applied the ointment and hand cream.
"This is just new, and I recommend it. I've been using this brand, especially since I always use swords and other weapons. I often get the same hand as yours, your highness," I stated.
I grab her hand again and give it to her. She pouts and looks away. "Thank you," she utters. I smiled. This princess is kind of cute actually.
