Chapter 18 - Visitation (part 1)

Kalix Noah's POV

Kassandra seems surprised by my question. She is reckless and does her things without any warning. She's a daredevil.

My wife is not afraid to take risks, which I envy. She has the courage to stand up again, no matter how bad the result of her actions.

"Tomorrow? I was planning to write down the things I needed to learn about how to prepare a proper seasonal ball. I even got a book for that, your majesty," Kassandra replied.

I thought she wouldn't take my mother's request that seriously. I am already ready to hire people who will prepare for that ball. I know my mother and father will arrive and check what kind of ball we prepared.

"Drop your plans for tomorrow first. I'm taking you on a date. After we eat our breakfast, we will leave right away. I want people to know who you are."

She blinks and seems to disagree with what I'm planning to do. I raise my hand and stop her from talking.

"Don't even try, Kassandra. Tomorrow's schedule will push through. Let's go. I have to make sure you won't be jumping through porches again," I remarked. I dragged her away.

The next day, we ate our breakfast in silence. I already told my servants that we wouldn't be eating here for lunch or even dinner.

I also notice my wife's habit. She keeps her gun and sword with her. Kassandra keeps her weapon, no matter where she is or what she's doing.

As soon as we finish our breakfast, we get into the carriage. Enrique will drive the carriage to the places that we will visit.

Inside the carriage, I frowned. "Do you really need to carry your weapons, hmm?" I ask.

She looks at her side. Her sword and gun were next to her. "It's a force of habit actually. I always do this because I'm the head that the enemies should get first," she replied.

The tone she uses is both scary and deadly. She only speaks the truth about her situation. "Would you mind sitting next to me?" I demand.

Kassandra was stunned because of what I said. Her guard was still up when I was around her. "It's a command," I utter. She sits next to me after I say the word command.

"Where are we going, your majesty?" Kassandra asks.

"We will go to places that are known as tourist spots. I told you that we would be ruling this place, right? I want them to get familiar with your face," I murmured.

I look at her gun. There's something about its handle and even its design. It's different from the normal one.

"Those who attend our wedding are noble families and citizens of the capital city. It's not even half of our kingdom's population. I want them to meet you," I added.

She looks nervous, but the smile on her lips is also proof of her courage. She didn't reply to my statement and kept a quiet distance between us.

Her alertness about her surroundings is not a joke. Kassandra's military skills are deadlier than I expected.

After half an hour, we arrived at the first place that we would visit. I get off the carriage first and offer my hand. She grabs her weapons before leaving the carriage.

A smile formed on her lips when she saw the plains of lavender flowers. This plantation was around half a hectare.

In the middle, there are three apple trees where chairs and stone tables are made. It was really odd that an apple tree was surrounded by lavender flowers.

"Whoa! This place smells nice, and it's wonderful to watch! I can't believe there's such wonder in this village!" she says.

The way she runs on the field of lavender and her vibrant smile make it worth it. "The citizens will be gathered here anytime soon, your majesty," Enrique stated. I nodded.

Kassandra faces us and shows us the three stems of lavender that she takes. "Thank you because you took me to a beautiful place like this, your majesty. I really appreciate your efforts," she genuinely says, smiling.

Moments later, the citizens of this village gather behind us. They saw how my wife was wandering around the lavender plains.

"I'm glad that everyone came. Where's the village mayor?" I ask.

He came out holding his newborn child. He bows his head. "Greetings to His Majesty. What can we do for you?" he asks. I faced them and spoke.

"The woman who is happily roaming around the lavender plains—she's the grand duchess of our kingdom. My wife," I introduced.

My wife must have realized that people are here. I heard the sounds of the flowers as she got closer. "Greetings to Her Majesty…?"

They stopped greeting her when she raised her hand. "Call him with that majesty thing, but not me. Lady general—I mean, Lady Kassandra will do. Greetings to everyone. By the way, this plains? It's so beautiful," she whispers.

"Thank you for appreciating our hard work, Lady Kassandra. We're happy to meet the beautiful wife of our duke," the village mayor says.

She genuinely smiles. We told them who she was, and everyone was surprised that the demon in war was not a man but a beautiful woman.

They even think that she should look like a man, but her porcelain skin is already proof of her beauty. After that short visit, we headed to the next village.

In the carriage, I hide my smile by covering my lips with my palm. Kassandra was enjoying smelling the lavender flowers that she had taken.

"By the way, what's the name of that village, milord?"

"Purple Moon village suits them well because of the lavender plain inside the village. The next place we will be visiting is the Tiger Lily Valley." I halt and open the window on my side. She chose the seat in front of me.

"The mountains around them were also perfect for hunting, and they have different types of lilies. You can see them in parks and even in the houses of townsfolk," I stated.

Kassandra opens her window as well. "I never expected that the places you are managing were larger than I imagined. I guess I'm not really good at our kingdom's topography."

We arrived in the next village after an hour. I sent my men to the next villages, and the mayors of the cities announced our arrival.

As soon as we come out of the carriage, the citizens bow their heads as part of their greetings. "Ahem. Arise."

"Everyone, meet my wife, Kassandra Escalante," I uttered.
