Chapter 34 - 34

Toki was of a unique lineage of Dhampir who had been created after Dr Blush researched Vampires and other underworld species.

The bloodthirst and other aspects were removed so that they could survive without blood but other aspects were improved upon.

Among those of her race, Toki was naturally talented in magic and was taken as a direct disciple of one of the founding members of the Witch Coven of ALCHEMI.

Among the many magic spells that Dr Blush had discovered or created, one was inspired by a space-freezing mutant ability that had some similarities to freezing time.

Toki had to act fast since it required a lot of her magic to cast and it had a long cast time.

She bit each of the vampire hunters who were in a berserk state before taking a step back.

Toki heard footsteps nearby and was shocked. "Who?"

Gene was powering up another large blast toward the frozen targets. "Neat spell you have! They are easy targets now!"

Toki waved her hands. "Do not do it! It is over now. How can you move?"

Gene shrugged with an innocent look on her face. "I do not know, 'cause I am strong?"

She canceled her ki blast and waited for Toki to cancel the spell.

Once it was over, Toki dropped down exhausted while the Hulkish vampire hunters paled and transformed again.

Their appearances became more ghoulish and they stopped being aggressive like they were in a trance.

Seeing them not moving, Vasili ran in to question everyone about what had happened. "What is going on here?"

Toki yawned. "I turned them into my ghoul minions. One moment."

She turned to them and asked. "Who sent you?"

The closest ghoul answered in a neutral tone. "Vampire Hunter Union."

Gene added. "Ask them how they got their weapons and serums. They should not have access to such things."

Vasili asked. "You mean that stuff comes from ALCHEMI? How come I never seen those before?"

Gene shrugged. "They are failures or less effective goods."

Zimo was resting nearby and Toki questioned the ghouls.

Toki sighed. "They got them from an underground dealer. We can start there."
