Rosa and Kael had not walked far from the villa when Amir of Vordania came into sight. He was seated at an elegant table surrounded by three equally elaborate chairs — all conspicuously out of place amid the rugged tents around him — and he observed the two of them with a steady unblinking stare.
"He's already here!" Rosa became flustered, instinctively falling back into her role as Kael's knight.
"He likes to be early," Kael murmured in a bored tone.
"Care to take my arm, Your Grace?" she asked, trying to compose herself.
"Absolutely not," he replied sharply.
They exchanged a short glance that made both of them fight amused smiles. Right, relax and be natural around the Crown Prince. You're not alone.
Rosa's confidence had returned by the time they reached the table. She approached Amir with grace performing a deep curtsy. "Your Highness. Thank you for making time to meet with us."
