"Hurry!" Tarah heard Maeve say for the hundredth time as she hurriedly dressed herself up.
Rumpling through her clothes as she looked for the most adequate scarf she could pair with her dress. Not sure that the make-up was enough to cover it.
Tarah's mind wasn't at peace until she finally found a white scarf that went well with her all white outfit.
"You don't need it! You should leave it behind!" Tarah heard Maeve say which only made Tarah want to take the scarf along with her even more than before.
"I'm ready! Let's go!" Tarah said the moment she was done checking herself in the mirror walking out the door without waiting for Maeve, confident that she would follow behind her in the vibrant white dress she had also chosen to wear.
Something that was usually meant to be worn by the most powerful women in the pack or women related to the alpha.
They walked in silence side by side until they got to the car, Tahra a little surprised to see her father waiting silently, something she was confident he would never do without reason.
'Drey is nowhere in sight!' Tahra thought with a sight of relief as she got into the car.
The journey didn't take long and in less than ten minutes they had all reached their destination, and their designated packing spaces.
But Tahra had just gotten out of the car when she felt the scarf around her neck be jerked away, before she could hold on to it.
Her mother's cold face glaring down at her.
"The scarf is unnecessary! If you're going to be Luna you should act like it,"
But Tahra didn't care and was just about to insist on the scarf when she heard a loud ripping sound, not too surprised to see Julia, her mother rip it into two.
'At least now I'm sure that they know what Drey did. Still? Hickeys? Is that how they intend to get me rejected as Luna?'
'Even if they bring it up, I can simply lie that it's Zane's fault and explain to him right after.'
'No! That plan is too simple! What could they possible want to do to make sure that I won't become Luna.' Tahra wondered trying to figure it out in her head but unable to.
Drey hadn't touched her but she still couldn't help but feel wary, that there was a bigger plan she couldn't see.
But regardless, Tahra continued to walk forward until she saw the large gathering in front of her, where only the most important families in the pack stood.
It didn't take long before Tahra got to the front, surprised to see that even Zane's family had arrived.
Silently, Tahra joined the huge circle stepping into the center where Zane stood, gazing into his eyes with silent excitement as she watched him silently smile back.
'I love you!' she mouthed at him, satisfied to see him instantly do the same before turning his face away, with a stoic expression befitting of the Alpha he was.
Although he was already doing the duties, he still needed to be recognized by the pack hence the reason for the ceremony.
Minutes ticked by as preparations were made and soon everyone was ordered out of the circle by Zane's father- Razon.
It wasn't until only Zane remained in the center of the circle that he was finally satisfied as he moved closer to him with a small bone necklace in his hand.
A couple of more minutes ticked by and it wasn't until the sky began to clear that he finally placed it around Zane's neck, officially declaring him as Alpha.
There were no clapping, nothing but silent acknowledgement as everyone else simply fell to their knees including Razon to show their silent and total submission.
A couple of seconds later, Zane ordered for everyone to rise and they did.
Even before Tahra got back to her feet she could already feel her heart pounding loudly in her chest, considering that she was next.
Zane would be asked to call upon his mate or the person he wished for as a partner and the person would be asked to step out if they were willing.
Tahra didn't have to wait long before she heard Zane call her name, feeling her heart race even faster as she stepped forward to stand beside him.
'In five minutes, I'll be Luna!' Tara thought to herself not sparing a single side at the part of the circle where she was confident her family stood.
They were against her but Tahra swore to herself that from that moment on Zane would be her only family.
Even the pack paled largely to how much she cared about him as she waited for Razon his father to continue speaking.
"Tahra, do you accept Alpha Zane as your mate, and Luna of the Z pack. Promising to put his interests and that of the pack above all else?" Razon asked, his voice booming across the large expanse of green grass they all stood on.
For a split second, Tahra felt the chilliness in the morning air, confident that Maeve was staring daggers at her waiting for her to refuse the role that had been handed to her.
One that she would willing die for.
"Yes. I'm willing. I'm willing to be Zane's Mate and Luna of the pack." Tahra replied lowering her head a little before raising it higher than before.
Confident that the second the bone necklace was placed in her neck, nothing more would matter to her than Zane's well-being.
'I'll die for him if I have to!' Tara thought realizing that at that every moment, there was no one else she loved more in the entire world. Definitely not her family.
Razon his father didn't delay as he immediately walked forward with a smaller moon shaped neck, one he was prepared to place around her neck.
But just before he could, a loud unexpected shout rang across the square statling everyone considering the fact that no disturbance was allowed.
"STOP! THAT WOMAN CAN NEVER BE LUNA!"
Along with everyone else, Tahra immediately jerked her head around to see who it was, not at all surprised to have recognized the voice and see her sister Maeve continue to speak.
