Chapter 11 - CHAPTER11: RYLES FAILED MISSION

Ryles stood by the window, a cigar in his mouth, watching the light drizzle of rainfall. His expression, grim.

for the first time since he had worked for Leo, Ryles had never failed a mission , he had never disappointed which in return had made his master trust him.

Every mission had been carefully handled to his master's satisfaction, but this very mission he had handled last was the very first to which his master was unsatisfied, infact unsatisfied was an understatement Master Leo was angry, an anger he had never seen on his master's face before

Master Leo was always calm no matter what, that was the master he knew but for the first time he had seen him riled up and dare he say restless. it was so unlike him.

" The body" was the first thing his master demanded for when he returned from his mission

" it fell into the river " He responded already dreading what was to come next. That one question was all he needed to understand that he had failed his master.

The next moment before he could grasp what was going on he found himself flying to the other side of the room , roughly hitting the wall he coughed out blood.

" Since when did you become a fool? " was the question that followed, from where he laid in pain. he saw his master's angry face, immediately getting up he went on his knees.

" forgive me master " His hands trembled as he endured the pain from the injury he had sustained earlier from his master's attack

Ryles hadn't expected for his master to request for the body . Master Leo had never done that, as Soon as Ryles got rid of someone the next thing was to get rid of the body like it never existed. he didn't Know it would be different with Raven.

unless his master wanted to confirm if the boy was truly dead

" he's dead master, i made sure he wouldn't survive" Ryles assured but his master wasn't the least bit pleased.

" Ryles, find that body before the next full moon " was the last thing he heard before he was hurled out of the room with a powerful force, if he wasn't a seasoned fighter who had withstood many painful things he would have definitely passed out.

Ryles couldn't understand why his master was so paranoid when it came to Raven, he had made sure the boy wouldn't survive, but deep down inside he wanted him to. Raven was an exceptionally smart kid, an interesting fellow he was, yet he steered clear from trouble, so he honestly couldn't understand how Raven had gotten on the bad side of Master.

Unless.....

it couldn't be, right ?...

perhaps the boy was a future threat to Master himself, could it be why he wanted him dead?

Ryles removed the cigar from his mouth at this realization.

' no it couldn't be ' but even he could no longer think that way as soon as he remembered what had happened back in the forest.

Raven had blasted him with something, a force he couldn't fathom . it was a desperate attempt, that he knew, but it was a powerful force.

Those green eyes that glowed for a second Ryles clearly remembered

' Oh no '

Everything started making sense now, Ryles turned around and flung a shirt on, he needed to see someone immediately.

***

*' BANG '*

The door flung open furiously and Ryles walked in like he owned the place. The young girl inside screamed in fright before trying to attack but Ryles caught her by the hand and lazily flung her to the side.

she yelp in pain

" where's that witch? " he glanced around before facing the young girl who reluctantly answered.

" she's not here " She glared at him but didn't dare raise her face, he wasn't someone to mess with, but she hated how he always barged in like he owned the place.

" where is she? " He snapped at her, not wanting to waste time.

" at the local inn...." she looked around only to realize he was gone.

' whatever was so urgent '

she shrugged, at least he wasn't bothering her anymore.

***

" coming through " Ceryl's small voice was heard, and everyone cleared a path for her so she could easily pass. She was loved by everyone except of course her grumpy boss. The only reason he still kept her employed was because the customers love her. The inn was always crowded in the afternoon as it was the only inn in their small village, many Travellers would always stop by for a short rest.

Right now she was carrying a tray of food to the guest on the third floor.

The amount of stairs she always had to climb repeatedly as customers prefer her service more.

anyone could see that she was hard working and relentless, her smile was permanent, it never faded, she had an ill mother to take care of back home, she couldn't afford to slack

*KNOCK KNOCK*

she patiently waited for the lady to answer

CLICK

The door gently opened and a beautiful lady came into view, her magenta eyes looked unreal.

" Ma'am your food " Ceryl's spoke and the woman nodded allowing her in.

carefully dropping the food she turned around bowing.

" Have this " The woman handed ceryl a golden coin

" it's a tip for your hardwork " she smiled.

Ceryl was surprised, she had never received a gold coin as a tip before

' This woman is very generous ' she thought to herself.

" Thank you so much, I'm grateful" she bowed repeatedly with blurry eyes before turning around to leave, smiling from ear to ear.

A very tall man rushed in, bumping into her

" Hey! " Ceryl turned towards him with a disapproving look but he had already slammed the door shut leaving her fuming

' how rude ' she thought

" Are you alright ceryl " she turned around to see Sam standing with a mop in hand.

" yeah, I guess " she watched him bend to pick up a small parchment, it had most likely fallen from her sleeve when she was bumped into.

" is this yours? , you can paint ? " sam couldn't believe it.

" give me that " she snatched it from him rolling it before tucking it back into her sleeve

" common tell me ? who's that in the painting ? " sam began pestering her as they walked away.

........

" What do you want? " Seraphina spoke a small smile tugged at her lips. she sat cross-legged in a sultry posture, Ryles only glared at her.

from the moment he had barged in, she knew he was the one, as she had been expecting him. She knew exactly what he wanted and why he was there.

" i need you to track someone, find out if he's dead or alive " Ryles wasted no time, he wasn't the least bit pleased with seeing her, but she was the only witch he knew. witches loved hiding, they were hard to find or do business with but he had stumbled upon this one by chance.

How they met was however a very interesting story.

Finding Raven was another task he couldn't fail , going back to the cliff edge wasn't an option as the body would have surely been washed away.

he had to endure dealing with this witch

" I'm not your slave Ryles find someone else " She flipped her hair arrogantly before turning away.

He flung a small pouch towards her, if there was one thing he knew very well, it was seraphina's love for money.

she caught it mid-air , still facing away from him

" you think I'll be swayed by this small amount of money ? " she rolled her eyes, tossing the pouch back

" why don't you pay with something else ? " her smile made his skin crawl, she was by far the shadiest person he had ever come across.

she gently stood up walking towards him, eyes filled with lust and Ryles didn't need to be told twice what she wanted.

His blood boiled.

' he wasn't falling for her trap, never again ' with so much anger he grabbed her neck and flunged her across the room.

Luckily for seraphina she landed on the bed.

Raising her head she stared at him in shock finally grasping the point that he wasn't here to play.

She then glared at him

" Name your price " he arrogantly demanded, and like that seraphina got to work tracking the Same person as she did last time

" well.....? " he urged her to speak, she only glanced at him before speaking

" He's dead " She deadpanned, grabbing her money from his grasp she ushered him out, before slamming the door shut. She had to prepare for her journey.

She closed the curtains before returning to sit on the bed, a sly smile on her face.

She knew very well she had lied to Ryles, but to her it couldn't be counted as a lie. She had told him half the truth

yes, Raven was dead, his human side was dead or rather her human side was dead. She was no longer human, her spirit is awakened and seraphina wanted the girl all to herself.

pure blooded mystics were rare and the most powerful creatures, she must get her hands on the girl

A wicked chuckle escaped her lips at the thought of power

she was confident, Ryles would never be able to find the girl, as only she knew Raven was a girl........
