Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 17: LET'S GO HUNTING

On her last breath, Maa' kicked her legs but it was just futile efforts. Her consciousness already betraying her, she struggled searching around for anything to grasp in a desperate attempt.

She saw something flash from the corner of her eye and the water shook greatly.

The dark tentacles wrapping her legs released it's grip in a flash and disappeared.

next she saw two unfathomable figures fighting and moving with the torrent of the water, her helpless self spinning along with the water.

' It was the Naida '

She had never felt so relieved,

She needs to swim out fast else she might drown.

with all the strength remaining in her she pushed upwards paddling her small feet but it didn't help, she was drowning.....

' Whoosh ' something whipped past her and she found herself being dragged with lightning speed.

' COUGH COUGH ' Her lungs felt like they were on fire her eyes burned.

she opened her eyes and found herself in the arms of a small figure.

They were on dry land now.

If anyone saw them now they would wonder how this small boy had managed to carry this woman in his arms.

" Thank you " she managed to squeeze out but the boy just roughly dropped her, his face grim.

" Uh " She struggled to regulate her breathing,

while sitting up.

He just stared at her amused at how pathetic she looked.

" Look at you. The great Maa' reduced to a mere mortal " he taunted while turning his small body to face away from her.

One would think he was a child looking at him, but he was actually as old as the protector of realms.

Maa' ignored the jab thrown at her, she didn't have much time left.

" I'm leaving " He suddenly announced, not wanting to spend anymore time with her.

" No wait please " she held the tip of his shirt. Before her fall everyone bowed and worshipped her, she stood above all.

now she had fallen from glory and the roles have been reversed.

If there was one thing this water spirit hated it was being disturbed.

although she hadn't completed the ritual to summon him before being dragged by the DRENOVAR it had still caught his attention somehow and he only rushed over to save her pathetic self.

She couldn't die yet, he knew that for sure, now she was being all clingy.

He rolled his eyes,

" What now? "

" Please, I need your help " she pleaded

" Speak " He waited, no matter how he felt, he was still before the great Maa' ' the protector of realms '

He couldn't completely disregard her.

" Ravenna, she's in trouble. something's after her. The stone is trying to come back , her spirit has awakened " she calmly told him what she was allowed to.

Quickly getting up she, stumbled a little before getting her footing.

Naida was already staring at her, his small body elegantly standing with firmness, even though he looked like he was her son and she his mother.

" I'm with her already don't worry about it, and don't get involved in anything again, we don't want you messing things up. we already have a lot on our hands " he grumpily said and then vanished, leaving behind a wet trace.

Maa' just smiled to herself, knowing very well that it was just his way of telling her to be careful.

Glancing around, to make sure no one had been watching or eavesdropping, she immediately left the river side, heading back home with quick footsteps.

The moment she safely made it into her house, she bolted the door from behind before crashing against the wall in exhaustion.

Something moved from the corner of her eye, she turned her neck to see properly and froze the very next minute, the air around her turning heavily oppressive.

There was a shadow lurking in the corner, she clearly saw it.

Her blood ran cold.....

' It is time ' she whispered...

" Li is something wrong " Kaine stood beside the second prince of Alcheria, a little bit concerned.

" Are you having nightmares again ?" He scooted closer much to the second prince's annoyance

" no ! Get away from me " the cold prince almost glared at him, Kaine was used to his grumpy moods and he just smiled sheepishly.

" Then what's wrong you have been out here for a while now " He glanced towards the same direction as the second prince, to see what exactly the guy was looking at.

" Kaine... Something dirty has stepped on the palace grounds " He finally turned towards Kaine, his tone serious.

Kaine just raised his brows wondering why it bothered him. Prince Aurelius was someone that never got involved with anything, he hid himself as much as possible. Everyone believed he was hiding away from being bullied especially by the queen, but he actually wasn't.

Honestly he wouldn't have it any other way. Let them think so little of him and underestimate him, that way he could easily take his revenge, for his mother whom they took away from him and molested till her death.

" Ok, just leave the mages to handle it " Kaine carefully suggested, but Aurelius shook his head in the negative much to Kaine's dismay.

" Let's go hunting k " A slow playful smirk crossed his lips.

' oh no ' Kaine panicked inside. The second prince was never playful, he was either too cold or too unbothered.

And he knew for a fact that hunting tonight was a bad idea , first of all, the palace had guest they couldn't afford to cause trouble.

And if they actually went hunting and the king's spies catch a whiff of news about him actually being powerful, It wouldn't end well

" Li, we can't afford you blowing your cover " kaine was already scolding and glaring. He dared to, as he knew if the second prince is actually caught, everyone would know he pretended to be weak.

Aurelius just laughed, a cold one at that. It had never happened before. He was always quiet, brooding, calculating, scheming but never carefree or playful.

It worried Kaine greatly, the second prince did indeed have some screws loose, that he knew, but it wasn't as worse and dreading as when he flashed that cold smile.

" Is there something i don't know about ?" Kaine couldn't help but ask, a little worried.

" Come with me " His eyes burned with determination as he said those words, before he vanished from the balcony with lightening speed...
