Chapter 122 - Destination

Chapter 122 Destination As the adventurer walked alongside his horse, Aleshia was having issues with her concealment. The mana in her body was nearly depleted from its constant use and was running low. Aleshia asked Lucia if she could share some of her mana, and without hesitation, she happily obliged, providing Aleshia with her mana to keep concealment going. With the slight debacle behind her, Aleshia now returned to the long, arduous, and tiresome journey of trailing the adventurer to the destination he headed for. Now and then, the adventurer would reach into his bag for medicines and calmly instruct his horse to stay still while he applied them. He frequently strayed to the river so his horse could drink plenty of water, and he, too, would take sips from his waterskin. Aleshia could stay hydrated using either her own magic or Lucia's. She periodically conjured water and drank it without taking her eyes off the adventurer. The darkness of night was approaching, and it seemed the adventurer was preparing camp far earlier than necessary. However, it was clear that he would do anything for his injured horse. "It seems like the adventurer is making camp, Aleshia. Do you think we should do the same or keep watching him?" Lucia asked. Prompted by her question, Aleshia thought carefully and replied, "If you can watch over him while I rest in the trees, my mind will be at ease." "Alright." Lucia lightly hopped off Aleshia's head and floated to the ground. Just before she landed, she lifted herself with magic and silently drew closer to the adventurer and his horse. Meanwhile, Aleshia began to climb a nearby tree, finding a sturdy limb to rest on, and soon fell asleep as sleep washed over her. Aleshia was prodded awake by Lucia the next morning, and she groggily opened her eyes. "Morning, Lucia," she said. "Morning!" Lucia replied cheerfully. As Aleshia shifted her gaze, she noticed the adventurer feeding his horse a hay bale. The sight of the feeding made her stomach grumble, so she retrieved some of the fish from earlier that she had stored in her pouch and began eating. A small sigh of delight escaped her lips as she enjoyed the meal. She noticed Lucia watching her. "Aren't you going to eat some?" Aleshia asked. With a hint of envy in her voice, Lucia explained, "I can't taste foods like humans, but I can subsist on the mana in the air. So, I guess that is a plus."
