"We need to talk!" Kang-Chul said and sat on the bed. Marcello sat beside him, inching closer, and closer.
" What are you going to tell me that will atone for everything that just happened?" I asked playing the dumb card.
"Look, I know you're upset right now, but you have to listen to me." He said in a pleading tone.
"Okay. Tell me what I need to know. And try to be honest, cos I might know what you don't." I said, switching to the smartass card.
He looked apprehensive for a moment, but then shrugged and sighed.
"You are a vampire. Do you know that?" He asked, with a searching expression. I had already gotten past that shock phase, so I asked; "So does that explain why you and Eun-Jae are planning to kill me? I mean, I'm the new roommate, and I'd like to be a respected hu-- person." I said and tensed up as he inched closer.
"I know, and I'm sorry. Look. We belong to an organization, and only vampires in the school are allowed membership." He said. Now he was just not making any sense.
"And how does that explain the Fact that I am being targeted as a potential kill Bill?" I asked and rolled my eyes.
"Well, let me explain please. I got a message from a certain Marcello that I should protect you with my life, lest I'd regret not doing so. And it's only one source that kind of message comes from." I glared at the grinning Marcello, 'you're the worst!'
"I know." He said, and motioned for me to keep listening.
"And in order for me to do that, I had to make you a vampire, so Red letter could accept you. But when I tried to, I noticed you were already one. Care to explain how?" He asked. Not s good sign, so I deflected the question.
"Don't ask me questions. I should be the one asking." I said fiercely.
"Yeah, you're right. The issue now is that Red letter has found you and they intended to use Nina to draw you to them for an unconscious initiation." My mind flashed to the European girl from the Pavilion, and the strange smell her spell was emitting.
"O-kay, Nina wanted to initiate me?" I asked feeling dumb again.
"No. Can I ask a question?" He asked, and I knew what was coming.
"Yeah." I said, and he nodded slowly.
"How are you a vampire?" He asked, and I had an instant reply.
"How are YOU a vampire?" I asked back, and he sighed.
"You don't have any foreign blood in you. I can sense it." He said, and I looked at Marcello for an answer.
"Don't look at me. Ugh. Tell him you're still figuring it out." Marcello said, and I repeated the message which earned me a look of 'oh no, disaster alert!!!'
"Look. Can we just try to not pru into each other's lives, and work out this mess?" I asked and he sighed again.
"Yeah. You're right. I'll see if I can talk them into leaving you alone. No promises though." He said, and got up from the bed.
"And just how are you going to do that?" Eun-Jae asked and walked into the room......
