Chapter 74 - chapter 74

Rhaenyra chuckled, taking a sip of her tea. "I'll make sure he's dressed appropriately. Don't worry."

This made William smile; he had to admit that her fashion sense was way better than his, so he had nothing to worry about.

With their stomachs filled and financial matters duly attended to, William and Rhaenyra continued their preparations for the upcoming journey. The clinking of coins, the rustle of parchment, and the occasional quill scratches filled the room as they worked in tandem to ensure Storm's End would stand strong in their absence.

....

The looming journey to King's Landing added a sense of urgency to William and Rhaenyra's already busy schedule. As the raven delivered the acceptance of Viserys's invitation, the halls echoed with the sounds of servants making ready for the departure, diligently packing and making the necessary arrangements for the horses that would accompany them on their expedition. The air outside the castle was filled with the sounds of hooves being groomed and saddles being adjusted.

After hours of poring over documents and ensuring the stability of Storm's End, William leaned back in his chair, a sense of accomplishment settling in. Rhaenyra, too, looked up from her meticulous study of trade agreements, her expression reflecting a mix of satisfaction and readiness.

"Well, that's the last of it," William said, stretching his arms above his head. "Now, let's focus on the journey ahead. We'll need to ensure we're well-prepared for whatever may come our way."

He continued, "I want this journey to be a positive experience for Malevor. Meeting Viserys, Alicent, and the rest of the family can be quite overwhelming, but it's important for him to feel at ease."

Rhaenyra nodded in agreement, confident that Alicent would not be kind to her son, who posed a threat to both her own ambitions and Otto Hightower's desire to put their bloodline on the Iron Throne.

As they finalized their plans, a knock on the door heralded the arrival of a guard. William handed him a sealed letter, instructing, "Send this to Rakharo. He will oversee matters here in our absence. I want everything to run smoothly."

The servant nodded and bowed before leaving and closing the door, allowing the married couple to resume their preparations.

As the daylight faded and nighttime emerged, William and Rhaenyra found themselves seated in the cozy confines of the office, enveloped by the comforting aroma of hot tea.

Today was a hectic day for Rhaenyra and William, but they had to make sure Storm's Land would do well during their absence, as they didn't know for how long they would be away. Luckily, there were trustworthy people to take over until their return.

As time passed, they decided to call it a day and head to sleep. Resting physically and mentally would be crucial for the journey to King's Landing that awaited them tomorrow.
