Chapter 73 - chapter 73

A raven glided gracefully into Storm's End, flaunting an envelope sealed with the insignia of King's Landing. William and Rhaenyra, seated together, exchanged curious glances as they carefully unfurled the message within. The words, a missive from Viserys Targaryen, Rhaenyra's father, extended an invitation to the family.

"William and Rhaenyra,

It has been far too long since we last gathered as family. So, bring Malaevor and come and let Malaevor meet his uncles.

See you soon,

Viserys Targaryen."

William mulled over the words, recognizing the familial warmth hidden beneath the formality. He turned to Rhaenyra, who shared a knowing look. Malevor, now all grown up, would probably enjoy meeting his uncles and aunt.

But he knew, Aemond and Aegon would never want to have a friendly relationship with their nephew.

Especially, after what Alicent would have put in their minds. In order to put a high tower on the throne.

Thinking about Aemond. William figured the kid should be around ten by now—the age he was when he lost his eye during a fight with Jace. But this fight has never happened here. Since, Jace was never born.

After talking it out with Rhaenyra, they've decided that it's best if they accept the invitation. Malaevor, hasn't gone out of Storm's Land from when he was young.

So, a journey to King's Landing would do good for him.

Rhaenyra nodded, agreeing to the family reunion. "It's high time we reconnect with Viserys, Alicent, and the rest. Malaevor deserves to know them.

With that, they sent a raven back to King's Landing, expressing their acceptance of Viserys's invitation. Plans began to take shape for the journey, and the halls of Storm's End buzzed with activity.

....

Seated at a sturdy oak desk cluttered with parchments and quills, William and Rhaenyra delved into the meticulous task of handling financial matters and documents. Scrolls and ledgers were spread out before them, each containing the intricacies of Storm's End's economy, trade agreements, and expenses. William's brow furrowed as he scrutinized the numbers, his mind absorbed in the intricacies of governance.

Rhaenyra, dressed in her formal attire, leaned over the desk, studying the documents with a keen eye. "We need to ensure everything is in order before we leave for King's Landing. We can't afford to neglect our responsibilities here."

William nodded in agreement, reaching for a quill to make notes. "Aye, you're right. The stability of Storm's End is paramount. I'll send a raven to our steward to keep a close eye on things in our absence."

As they continued the meticulous task of reviewing accounts and trade agreements, the door creaked open, and a servant entered with a tray carrying breakfast and steaming cups of strong black tea. The aroma filled the room, providing a brief respite from the weight of administrative duties.

Taking a moment to savor the warm sustenance, William looked at Rhaenyra with a smile. "Once we're done here, we'll need to make preparations for the journey. And we can't forget about Malevor; he'll need to be dressed appropriately."

Rhaenyra chuckled, taking a sip of her tea. "I'll make sure he's dressed appropriately. Don't worry."

This made William smile, he had to admit that her fashion sense is way better than his.

So, he has nothing to worry about.

With their stomachs filled and the financial matters duly attended to, William and Rhaenyra continued their preparations for the upcoming journey. The clinking of coins, the rustle of parchment, and the occasional quill scratches filled the room as they worked in tandem to ensure Storm's End would stand strong in their absence.
