Chapter 5 - The Chaos of Tzeench (part 1)

Justicar Avallon and his squad instantly arrived back at the headquarters of the 6th Brotherhood of Rapier, where Grand Master Caddon Varn was already waiting for their report. The Grand Master stood while reviewing reports from other Grey Knight squads, particularly the Strike Squad and Purgation Squad that had been deployed after Avallon and his squad descended.

"Grand Master, we have returned," said Justicar Avallon.

"You have done your duty well, Justicar. What do you think of Brother Vergil?" asked Grand Master Caddon Varn.

"His combat skills are already very refined; he even easily killed the Sorcerers from the Blood Taker Warband with relative ease," replied Justicar Avallon.

"In that case, prepare for the next mission. For some reason, there have been numerous requests from the Ordo Malleus lately for us to take action against Chaos Daemons," said Grand Master Caddon Varn.

"Since the Cicatrix Maledictum opened, the strength of the Daemons brought forth by these Heretics has only grown stronger," said Justicar Avallon.

"In that case, take some rest; the next mission awaits you," said Grand Master Caddon Varn.

Vergil immediately headed to the training room and, guided by a servitor, made his way to his quarters. Along the way, Vergil recalled what he had learned over the past few months. The Cicatrix Maledictum is a vast rift of Warp energy that stretches from the Eye of Terror, dividing the Imperium of Mankind into two parts. The region illuminated by the light of the Astronomican is known as the Imperialis Sanctus, while the other side, which is devoid of the Astronomican's light, is called Imperium Nihilus. Since the 13th Black Crusade, which led to the destruction of the Fortress World of Cadia after Abaddon the Despoiler crashed Blackstone Fortresses into the planet, the Cicatrix Maledictum emerged from the Eye of Terror.

Vergil arrived at the training room, where another Terminator squad was already practicing. Vergil stood by, waiting for his squad's turn to train. Not long after, Justicar Avallon arrived, having finished reporting everything that had transpired. The servitor accompanying Vergil seemed to receive a command and informed him that Justicar Avallon and his squad were being requested to go to the 6th Brotherhood's command room. Avallon signaled to his squad, and those in the room immediately headed to the command room as well.

"You're all here, it seems. We've just received a request for reinforcements from Inquisitor Darmania. It looks like this will be a bit of a joint operation, and as usual, we'll be moving in close to the enemy," said Grand Master Caddon Varn.

"The rules for engaging the enemy?" asked Justicar Manaremu.

"As usual, we will appear right next to the enemy and annihilate them, but this time we need to be a bit more cautious," said Grand Master Caddon Varn.

"Is there something we need to know?" asked Vergil.

"According to the report, a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch has appeared to lead the daemon forces," said Grand Master Caddon Varn.

"A Greater Daemon, huh? In that case, we'll deploy and eliminate that Daemon as quickly as possible," said Justicar Manaremu.

"Then you should depart immediately," said Grand Master Caddon Varn.

The Teleportarium Gate opened with a deafening roar of energy, and a burst of blue light shot out, illuminating the darkness of the battlefield. Three squads of Grey Knights, with their Justicars leading the way, stepped out with an intimidating display of power and majesty. Their sacred armor reflected flashes of light, symbolizing the unstoppable strength of the Emperor.

The Daemons that filled the battlefield—mostly Horrors of Tzeentch and Flamers—were momentarily stunned, confused by this sudden appearance. The silence lasted only for a moment before the battle erupted again with even greater ferocity. The Justicars raised their Nemesis Force Swords, directing their hateful gazes at the foul creatures that defiled this reality.

"We are the Emperor's Hammer!" shouted one of the Justicars, raising his sword high. In an instant, he and his squad surged forward in a coordinated and deadly assault. Their bolters roared, unleashing a hail of blessed bullets toward the Daemons, turning them into shards of burning energy and psychic terror. Meanwhile, another squad threw Psyk-Out Grenades, creating deadly psychic explosions that targeted the spiritual essence of the Horrors, sending them back to the Warp with screams of fear.

In the midst of this chaos, the Flamers of Tzeentch unleashed blue flames that flowed like molten lava, attempting to engulf the Grey Knights in the fires of mutation. But the Grey Knights, protected by their powerful psychic wards and blessed Terminator armor, pushed through the flames with unwavering resolve. With each swing of their swords and every pull of their triggers, they purified the world of the presence of the defiling Tzeentch creatures.

This sudden attack caused instability among the ranks of the Daemons; their once formidable strength began to crumble under the relentless assault of the Grey Knights. In the mind of each knight, there was only one goal: to exterminate every Daemon present and secure the battlefield for the Imperium. With steely determination and unshakeable faith, they continued their advance, ensuring victory in the name of the Emperor and humanity.

Vergil raised his hand, and his psychic power radiated with immense force. Vergil's eyes glowed a bright purple as he channeled the Warp energy, forming deadly psychic flames. The Horrors of Tzeentch, both Blue and Pink Horrors, were powerless against his relentless assault. They were shattered into fragments of energy and despair, wiped from existence by a power they could not match.

Vergil moved swiftly like a shadow, a whirlwind of fury and pure power. He deftly dodged the attacks of the Flamers, moving with a speed impossible for the ordinary eye to follow. Each swing of his Nemesis Force Spear cleaved through the Daemons, channeling psychic energy that banished them back into the Warp.

Justicar Avallon, standing at the forefront, watched the sudden assault with keen eyes. In the sky, he spotted a large blue silhouette moving swiftly—an ominous stingray-shaped creature hovering in the air. Avallon immediately recognized it as a Screamer of Tzeentch, a Daemon known for its speed and deadly aerial attacks. As the Screamer dove towards the force, Avallon quickly gave the order.

"Terminators, defensive formation!" shouted Avallon in a loud voice that cut through the noise of battle.

The Terminators of the Grey Knights immediately complied, raising their Storm Bolters held in their left hands. With well-trained movements and unmatched military discipline, they began firing salvos at the approaching Screamers.

Bolter explosions ripped through the air, creating a pattern of fire and intense detonations as they bombarded the hovering Screamers. One by one, the Screamers were hit, their bodies torn apart by the power of the bolter blasts, screaming in inhuman agony as they were sent back to the Warp. However, despite this, some Screamers managed to break through the counterattack and began diving toward the Grey Knights, their sharp-toothed mouths wide open, ready to devour anything in their path.

Vergil sensed the danger and quickly focused his energy. He leapt into the air, using his psychic powers to increase the speed of his jump, and with a full-powered swing, he cut one of the Screamers in half, sending the creature back to the void from which it came. This attack gave the Grey Knights precious time to reorganize their formation and continue their assault against the weakening forces of Tzeentch.
