The Justicar swiftly led the entire contingent of Grey Knights into the heart of the Tzeentch Daemon horde. Their assault was meticulously coordinated; strom bolters unleashed a storm of rounds imbued with psychic energy, capable of annihilating both the physical forms and the souls of the Daemons. Each swing of their force swords cleaved through reality itself, banishing the chaotic disturbances that dared to defy the Emperor's will.
Amidst the chaos, the Lord of Change sensed an anomaly. Its myriad eyes flickered, capturing flashes of an unusually potent psychic energy—far stronger than what could be expected from a standard Grey Knight assault.
"This is no ordinary assault," it muttered, its voice echoing across the fabric of the universe and the nightmares beyond.
With a single sweep of its vast wings, it momentarily halted the battle around it, summoning its Daemonic forces to probe deeper into the fray.
The Lord of Change knew it faced a significant threat. The source of the psychic energy became clearer—there was an unknown Psyker, someone whose power could rival that of a Daemon Primarch.
"Find them!" it hissed with a venomous tone. "Bring them before me. And make certain they no longer draw breath when you do."
Vergil moved with agility beside Justicar Avalon, each step filled with calm precision and focus. He cut through the swarms of Daemonic forces, propelling himself through the chaotic battlefield. With every motion, his sword danced through the air, slicing through the vile flesh and malevolent energies of Horrors and Flamers.
In the midst of the battle, Vergil sensed a profound connection within the Warp, a sensation familiar to him from his training as a Daemon hunter. With one hand gripping his sword, he raised the other high, drawing in the Warp energy that surrounded him. Vergil's eyes blazed with an intense light as he extended his hand forward.
Lightning erupted from his grasp, a blue-green arc crackling with immense power. The bolts surged through the air, striking Horrors and Flamers with lethal precision. The Daemons screamed in agony as their bodies disintegrated into ash in an instant, their dark energies being sucked back into the Warp by the overwhelming force of the attack.
Vergil's storm of lightning swept across the battlefield, clearing a path for the other Grey Knights to advance unhindered. Justicar Avalon watched with admiration but remained cautious, fully aware that while Vergil was an ally, the Warp power he wielded was both dangerous and unpredictable. Yet, in this dire situation, every ounce of strength was necessary to annihilate the Daemon forces.
"Justicar, it seems they've started to take notice of our arrival," Vergil said.
"Good. Ensure our position is not compromised to the Imperial Guard or any Space Marine Chapter," Justicar Avalon replied.
"For some reason, I sense the presence of a Sister of Battle fighting alongside the Imperial Guard," Vergil noted.
"Then we press on and keep fighting. Our target is the Lord of Change," Justicar Avalon commanded.
Vergil, along with three other Terminators, advanced steadily through the battlefield, which was filled with screams and explosions. Each step they took shook the ground, and their Aegis Armor emitted a brilliant blue glow, deflecting the foul energy attacks of the Tzeentch Daemons. Their armor, crafted from blessed adamantium and inscribed with psychic runes, pulsed with light as its protective wards activated, creating a powerful psychic shield.
Ahead of them, the Horrors and Flamers launched a furious counterattack, unleashing torrents of multicolored fire and spiraling Chaos energy. But Vergil, with unshakable focus, raised his left hand once more. A bright light gathered around his hand, drawing power from the Warp. With a swift motion, he released a psychic blast, annihilating a large group of Horrors attempting to flank them.
Vergil then switched to his Nemesis Force Spear, a legendary weapon crafted specifically to vanquish the forces of darkness. The blade of the spear shimmered with lethal blue energy, each swing slicing through the Daemons with a force that could obliterate their physical forms and incinerate their essences back into the Warp.
Around him, the three other Terminators moved with the same discipline, their formation flawless, each strike executed with strict military precision. They slashed and crushed the Flamers attempting to close in, dodging bursts of mutative fire with the skill honed from centuries of battle against the forces of Chaos.
Step by step, they advanced, cutting down and parrying every Daemon that dared to block their path. Each time the Daemons launched an attack, their Aegis Armor glowed, repelling and resisting the foul energies. Vergil and the three Terminators continued their assault, their movements coordinated and filled with brutal efficiency.
Vergil, accompanied by the three other Terminators, arrived at the location of the Lord of Change, closely followed by Justicar Avalon. Vergil saw the massive Daemon, shaped like a bird with a head resembling an alien lizard monster, exuding a terrifying aura. For some reason, Vergil felt no fear at all. He even stepped forward, leaving the three Terminators to engage the Daemons guarding the Lord of Change.
"So, this is the Lord of Change? Looks like a chicken ready to be fried," Vergil remarked.
"You... You are an anomaly that should not exist here," the Lord of Change snarled in anger.
"I can go wherever and whenever I please... As for you? Good luck trying…" Vergil retorted.
"Then face me!" the Lord of Change challenged, preparing for battle.
"Bring it on!" Vergil replied, tauntingly.
Vergil and the Lord of Change faced each other, the battlefield around them seeming to freeze in time. The air thrummed with tremendous psychic power, a clash of pure Warp energy and physical strength honed by centuries of combat experience.
The Lord of Change, with its vast wings spread wide, unleashed a wave of chaotic energy, striking the ground around them with explosions of purple and blue. Its attacks came in a series of rapid and unpredictable bursts, each flash imbued with magic capable of warping reality itself.
Yet, Vergil swiftly evaded every attack. His movements were sharp and precise, making full use of his exceptional speed and reflexes. With one hand firmly gripping the Nemesis Force Spear, his other hand raised the Storm Bolter mounted on his arm. He fired a barrage of shots directly at the Lord of Change, the bolter, blessed with psychic runes, discharging rounds capable of penetrating the Daemon's flesh and defenses.
"You'll need to try harder than that, you fool of a bird…" Vergil taunted in a low but calm voice.
Each shot from the Storm Bolter struck the energy field surrounding the Lord of Change, though some penetrated, causing small explosions on the Daemon's form and eliciting a furious roar.
Sensing the increasing threat from Vergil, the Lord of Change raised one of its clawed hands and summoned aid from the Warp. "Come forth, my minion! Destroy our foes!" Its command reverberated across the battlefield, and in an instant, a host of Horrors and Flamers emerged from swirling portals in the air, rushing to disrupt Vergil.
The Daemons immediately assailed Vergil, disturbing his rhythm and concentration. The writhing, multicolored Horrors unleashed blasts of Chaos energy at him, while Flamers spewed forth blue and green flames that threatened to incinerate everything. Vergil spun his body with agility, evading the attacks with trained and precise movements, all the while continuing to fire his Storm Bolter and slash with his Nemesis Force Spear.
On the other side of the battlefield, Justicar Avalon and the three Terminators faced their own trials. The Daemons summoned by the Lord of Change surged toward them, attempting to separate and disrupt their formation to prevent them from aiding Vergil. Avalon swiftly brandished his Nemesis Force Halberd, delivering a powerful counterattack. "Stay focused, Brother! Do not let them break our formation!" he shouted, his authoritative voice cutting through the din of battle.
The duel between Vergil and the Lord of Change intensified, each move and strike embodying a clash between order and chaos, light and darkness. Their battle was not just physical but also psychological and psychic, with each side striving to dominate the other on the battlefield and within the Warp.
After a fierce exchange, Vergil managed to parry and land several shots from his Storm Bolter onto the Lord of Change. With a decisive thrust of his Nemesis Force Spear, Vergil delivered fatal blows, severing the head of the Lord of Change. As the Lord of Change fell, the Tzeentch Daemons began to vanish, for it was the Lord of Change who had opened the Warp gate and initiated the Daemon invasion. Vergil observed an Imperial Guard squad at the forefront, who, upon seeing the Grey Knights, immediately knelt in reverence.
"As usual, Justicar?" Vergil inquired.
"As usual…" replied Justicar Avalon.
Vergil and the Terminators swiftly executed the Imperial Guard squad, identifiable by their uniforms from the Cadia Shock Trooper Regiment. With ruthless efficiency, Vergil and the three Terminators beheaded the soldiers. As the last of the executions were carried out, the Teleportarium flickered into life.
