Chapter 53 - 53.The Witcher Master.

"It's not difficult. A regular apprentice, with specialized training for a month or two, can learn it."

Allen had anticipated this. His purpose in openly showcasing the "Killer Whale" potion to the leader was clear. The preparations for the Mountain Trial were nearly complete; it was time to think about the future. Although the timing of the Kaer Morhen Defense Battle, which would lead to the fall of Old Sea Fortress, was uncertain, the enemy's declaration—Monstrosities: Or, A Description of Witchers—had already been delivered. For witcher apprentices, time was running out.

To pull the School of the Wolf from its destined path of destruction, Allen knew he couldn't just be a highly talented witcher apprentice. From what he observed at yesterday's banquet, he couldn't even be just an experienced witcher. He needed more influence, more authority, to persuade these stubborn Wolf School witchers that danger was approaching. Thus, he hoped to use this formula, and potentially dozens or hundreds of future formulas, to quickly elevate his status within the Wolf School. The leader fell into deep thought again.

"Allen, can I try that potion of yours?" Vesemir, surprised by the leader's tone, could tell that the potion Allen created after just ten days of alchemy training was indeed effective and seemingly very potent. He couldn't help but want to try it himself.

"Of course," Allen said, taking out two more bottles of Killer Whale from his pocket. Seeing that the leader and the sorceress were both deep in thought, he didn't disturb them. Handing one bottle to Vesemir, Allen eagerly opened the other bottle and drank it in one go.

"Mm~" A moment after the potion entered his throat, Allen felt a slight grayness before his eyes, like a very thin veil. His blood flow suddenly quickened, and his heart sank momentarily. His cheeks suddenly puffed up as if new organs had grown there. Allen, curious, turned to look at Vesemir. He saw the blood vessels around Vesemir's eyes bulging, and his cat-like golden pupils seemed veiled by a thin mist, giving him a very eerie look. Knowing he likely looked the same, Allen didn't hesitate and dove into the Killer Lake.

Underwater, Allen realized the thin veil before his eyes was a transparent eyelid, protecting his eyes from the lake water. Moreover, the water seemed to be glowing naturally. He could see clearly all the way to the lake bottom.

"What's the principle behind this? So amazing!" Allen couldn't help but marvel internally.

"Plop!" Hearing a heavy splash, Allen turned to see Vesemir entering the water, his astonishment palpable. Allen instinctively touched his own face, finding his mouth open but no water flowing in. He was breathing normally underwater, just as he would on land.

"This is alchemy?" Despite having brewed Killer Whale himself, Allen found it hard to believe. Such an extraordinary creation was indeed his own work. For over ten minutes, Allen and Vesemir swam underwater before finally returning to the surface.

"Allen! Allen!..." Vesemir, out of breath, kept calling Allen's name, unable to form a coherent sentence due to his overwhelming excitement and surprise. Typically, a human could only hold their breath underwater for two to three minutes, a witcher for five minutes without special training. Yet after drinking Killer Whale, the baseline was ten minutes, with seasoned witchers like Vesemir extending it to twenty minutes.

This extended underwater time greatly expanded hunting ranges and improved emergency evasion capabilities. If they had had this potion earlier, how many witchers could have avoided death or injury?

Images of numerous faces flashed through Vesemir's mind...

Regret, sorrow, pride, amazement, admiration... Vesemir didn't know what to feel, so he could only incoherently pat Allen's shoulder.

"Vesemir." The leader approached, sighed, and gently patted Vesemir's back. He understood Vesemir's thoughts. As they aged, more and more companions died before them—from monsters, natural disasters, even humans. If they had had this potion, perhaps they wouldn't have died. With these thoughts, the leader looked at his progeny with an overwhelming sense of pride. This was his child, a born witcher...

"Hmph!" A discontented snort from Vera interrupted the leader's musings. He sighed inwardly and said, "Allen, since you're willing to share the potion with us, you must have some thoughts, right?"

Allen was relieved that the leader didn't dismiss him because of his age. His biggest fear was the leader dismissing him as too young and simply taking the formula and giving him something trivial in return. As an apprentice witcher, he had no real choice against a figure as imposing as the leader.

"Yes, I have some thoughts."

The leader looked at Vera, then Vesemir, and said, "Speak. If you're willing to share the potion formula with the school, everything except the Mountain Trial can be negotiated."

Allen had no intention of avoiding the trial; he was nearly prepared for it. As long as he didn't run into a prematurely awakened Old Speartip in the cave, he was confident he'd pass.

While Killer Whale was important to the Wolf School, it wouldn't fetch a high price. The potion, being highly toxic, was only usable by witchers. The sorceress had also observed the formula. So, after some thought, Allen was about to speak, intending to exchange the formula for something useful now.

"Witcher Master!" A cold voice interrupted him. The leader and Vesemir instinctively looked at Vera. "You can ask for the title of Witcher Master. After all, you've already hunted a large monster, haven't you?"

The witchers present were stunned. After the drowner king hunt, Vesemir had referred to Allen as a Witcher Master, recognizing his potential. But officially, he didn't believe the school would grant the title, given it was a joint effort and Allen's young age.

"But with this potion formula..." Vesemir fell into deep thought. The sorceress, seeing Allen's hesitation, directly addressed the leader again, "Sol, what do you think of this request?"
