Chapter 32 - Perfect Disguise

"I am aware of that Titus. I know it is not that simple and I can't just ignore all this and walk away knowing pretty well that this is a big danger to us and this place. Especially now that we are not sure whether whatever attacked me is lurking in the shadows or not. There is however something we can do, " Lily answered.

Stepping back, Lily gave one last look at the portal and begun walking away from it. She was soon past the cave that led to the source of the portal. She stood in front of the three openings into different parts of the cave.

This was still within the main cave that they entered, it was just a little deeper into it. Lily focused her attention towards the cave from which she had came through. This was the same cave that led to the portal.

With her attention fully on that particular opening, she fixated her eyes and stretched out her hands, opening both her palms. She gave a quick look to Titus who immediately understood what she meant.

Titus suddenly disappeared and reappeared after less than three seconds, "it's all clear," he reported. Lily then shifted back her attention towards the opening. The walls within the caves began rumbling.

The rumbling continued for a few seconds then it stopped. Titus stared with amusement at what Lily was doing. He thought to himself how he could have never imagined to suggest a thing such as that.

A few seconds elapsed and Lily rubber her hands together as though she was removing dust from them. When in the real sense there was not even a single trace of dust on her. "That should do it," she spoke in an untimely manner.

It was amusing how she could quickly shift from terrifying to a more normal and calm version of herself. Titus stepped forward and looked at the three tunnels and then shifted his gaze to one side of the walls of the cave, "it is a good disguise, it will buy us a lot of time," he commented.

Lily had shifted one of the openings, and particularly the one that led to the portal and hid it amongst the walls of the cave. This left only two remaining openings deeper into the caves.

She however did not leave it at that. She forged another opening that exactly resembled the one she hid amongst the walls. This made it appear as though the three openings were still naturally there and not tampered with at all.

If at all one followed all the three openings, it would possibly lead to nothing or maybe deeper ocean waters that spread into the caves. Lily had shut the opening she hid with huge massive rocks that perfectly fit and resembled the walls of the cave.

This way, nobody could even guess that the huge rock wall could even move leave alone the possibility of there being something behind it. The power she had used to disguise the passage opening was so strong that it would take someone equally strong to even try finding it, leave alone opening it.

Lily however did not use a great percentage of her strength in creating the disguise. If at all, it could be said that she only used an eighth of the normal strength she possessed. This however was still a risk she was taking and that is the reason why she had signaled Titus to check whether the surrounding was clear.

Being that she was wearing her pendant, it limited her in accessing most of her power and now when she was doing something that required a good amount of strength, she had to completely focus on it for it to have any success. She hated that she had to go through that but she knew it was only for a while.

"Now only I can open this," Lily said with a grin. She turned around and begun walking towards the entrance of the cave and immediately stopped. "Do you feel it?" She questioned Titus who was following behind. She grew silent for a moment and spoke again, "focus Titus," she closed her eyes amidst her words.

"Something was here, I can feel it's enegy still in the air. With the path to the portal blocked, the energies of every creature that has passed through it will be disconnect from the path and linger in the atmosphere for a while," Lily spoke directing her words to Titus as she keenly looked around the walls of the rocks near the entrance.

"But it could be the Shade, remember it came through the portal right here. Maybe it's darkness is still lingering in the atmosphere since it is not a simple dark creature," Titus answered.

As much as Titus had given a possible answer to Lily's question, he could still see that she was not entirely contented with the response at all. She seemed to be thinking and speculating at the same time. "Do you perhaps think it is something else?" Titus asked Lily intending to hear out her thoughts.

"You are not entirely wrong Titus, the Shade came through here but it's energy could not possibly linger for that long. Remember it is already dead and you know that when something is dead it's lingering energy disappears completely," Lily answered, her eyes still searching.

Titus quickly frowned upon the realization of Lily's point. She was definitely right. Being that the Shade was already dealt with and by a guardian at that, it was totally gone and long dead. So they remained with only one question, to whom or what did the energy lingering within belong to?

By now, they had both came to a conclusion that whatever it was that possessed that energy was in one way or the other, connected to Lily's attack and that of her grandmother.

"We have to find whatever it is. And it is an intelligent one because there still hasn't been any commotion within the town just yet," Titus stated. "Hopefully it doesn't scheme an attack in different directions, perhaps that could be the reason why it is taking time," Lily seconded.

As much as she was from the dark race and the other creatures that were within too were from the dark race, she could not just ignore their presence just like that. Back at home, it was only Lily that was sent on a mission in the human world and any other creature that followed after her would either be there to help her if there was a need.

This however was not the case since the mission she was sent on could only be accomplished by her and her alone and therefore she did not need any backup for it. For this reason, anything that followed into the human world was one, there to disrupt her mission, and two, there for personal selfish gains that were not approved by their race.

Lily's race still believed in the balance of the different worlds and she was now well aware that not every single member of their race shared the same interests. Other members were delusional to the point of imagining the taste of power in their own hands.

Most of the outcasts left their world just so their could fulfill the long-term desires to be ultimate rulers of the human world. This would therefore enable them to form strong bases if at all they were to go back to their original world and bring back other followers who would easily serve them being that they had conquered a whole human world.

With that out of the way, Lily decided to go back to her grandmother's house before figuring out a way to find the creature they were looking for. She teleported back to her grandmother's compound and looked around to see if there was anyone outside the house.

"Aren't you just hard to understand your grace," Titus wondered looking at Lily. Lily also looked back at him waiting for a reason why he would make such a statement.

"It is just that earlier you decide to walk all the way along the beach to the caves and you could have just teleported there," Titus cleared the air. "Well the morning breeze across the ocean is very refreshing and the beach is beautiful with the bird noises in the morning," Lily responded.

"Well then your taste is quite humanly your grace," Titus mocked a little. "You can't blame me Titus, I am doing a perfect job at blending in don't you think?" Lily squinted her eyes playfully as she spoke. Titus nodded and suddenly vanished.

Lily walked towards her grandmother's house and she could hear voice from a distance. She knew those voices quite well. Stepping into the house, she exchanged greetings with them again and once more Chris and his mother were happy to see Lily back.

They inquired if at all there was any progress with the possible healer that Lily mentioned to be looking for early that morning when she set out. They were however disappointed and understood that Lily was not able to get the healer and that would only explain the reason why she was back that soon.

Finding a healer was no longer a simple task, especially if it was a healer who understood the works of magic in healing. Everyone with any magical ability or traces were all in hiding since they were at risk which was ridiculous since they had abilities unlike any other normal people. They however were exposed to more danger than any normal person.

Lily did not take all this information she had in vain. She knew now more than ever that the creature they were looking for would not be aware of this and would sooner or later make a mistake that would lead her straight to it. She had a feeling that her finding it would even enable her to get a lead on how the portal got interfered with.
