Chapter 9 - Chapter Eight

Ava decides to take a long way home because it would take less time. With traffic on the shorter route, she would be stuck in the car for hours with him.

Seth's a great guy so far, but hours in a car with him. She would probably pull over in pure frustration and with the sexual frustration in the mix, she would most likely jump his bones.

Seth wouldn't mind, he's already trying to figure out what position they could be in, in the car, before, he has to shake his thoughts. He can't get too excited. He blushes looking over at Ava. Thank God, she is focused on the road. He thinks to himself.

"So um one date. What kind of date?" Ava asks her voice sounding a little bit husky.

"A normal one of course" he says as they stop at a light.

"Define normal," Ava says turning her head to look at him.

"You get all dolled up, I come over in a charming suit. Or we could go casual. Whatever you would like. Just know casual involves me wearing jeans." His breath fans across Ava's neck making a pleasant chill run down her spine.

"I'll think about it," Ava says as the light turns green and the person in front of her doesn't move. Ava thinks about honking the horn but it is late and Ava doesn't want to be rude. Ava notices what is wrong, the female driver in front of her is tending to a crying baby. Ava looks at the scene in awe, she wants that. All of the money in the world can't bring you that kind of happiness.

Seth takes notice of her reaction to the scene in front of them.

"Do you have one?" Ava smiles a frail smile as Seth asks this.

"No, my ex-husband got.." Ava makes a scissor motion with her right hand, "without my knowledge." Ava doesn't explain anymore blushing at the fact he caught her admiring a child.

"Well, I bet you would make a great mom." Ava smiles a bit at his words as he says this.

"So you have known me a whole what day, right? Now you assume, I'll be a good mom." Ava takes one hand off the wheel and over her own heart. "Aw thank you." Seth looks over at Ava.

"How did your ex get away with doing that and you, not finding out?" Ava lets out a very shaky breath.

"We both had busy lives, but we were trying. Well, more like I was trying and panicking because I thought something was wrong with me. It took months before the doctor told me I had a safe and healthy place to hold a baby. As long as my seed is watered my chances of having a baby are high. That was the one appointment we went to. The doctor gave him a cup to do his business in. He said he didn't need the cup and then explained the procedure. That was the last straw." Seth glances at her a look of sadness stings his eyes.

"His loss is my gain," Seth says, making Ava smile a bit.

"We haven't even had our first date, don't go sending out the wedding invitations yet." This causes them both to break out into a fit of laughter.

Seth clears his throat and looks directly at the dashboard.

"My ex-girlfriend, fiancee came home pregnant. It wasn't with my son. She made me believe it was mine. She manipulated me into a lot of stuff. She even tried to rush our no prenup engagement. If it wasn't for my so-called best friend, I would have lost everything to her. He may have slept with her, but he made me realize it was a huge mistake." He lets out a sigh and smiles.

"When we get to your place we can toast to our crazy ex's. How did your divorce go?" He asks, not expecting an answer from Ava, Ava smiles.

"I got a pretty fat settlement and our homes.  I also got the vacation spot, I bought just to piss him off. But I may have gotten some of his riches. I lost my stepmom and dad in the process. They are strong Catholics, well my stepmom is. I may have money, but I lost the life I built. We were together eight years married through five of them." Ava doesn't realize she is crying, but Seth takes notice. He places his hand over hers in comfort.

"You are brave. You created a strong life here and a name for yourself. You are a catch. And if your ex-husband didn't notice that about you, that's his loss and my gain. If not my gain then some lucky guy will sweep you off your feet. Give it a few years you will be barefoot pregnant and in someone's kitchen." Ava smiles through the tears.

"How do you know that?" Ava asks wiping away her tears. Her face is all red and blotchy, snot running and her heart is racing.

"Because a man is a fool if they don't try to reel you in." Ava blushes at his words. She then stops the car in front of a coffee shop.

"I need some tea, we can talk about things that will reel me in over some tea or coffee. This is the best shop."  Ava unbuckles and just as she does that she unlocks the doors. As she turns off her car, Seth gets out and walks around the car to open up the door for Ava.

"What a gentleman." She says taking his hand as he helps her out of the car.

"Always m'lady now would you like me to take my coat off and set it over the puddles so you don't ruin your shoes. If your feet grow too tired I can carry you and or give your feet a nice rub." Ava laughs stepping in front of him.

He is left a few steps behind Ava, but of course, he is enjoying the view. Her silhouette catching rays of the sun that is getting lower. The streets are starting to light up a bit as well.

"Me. Guard, I might have to take you up on that foot rub one of these days. I hope you know once you offer it does not expire and you will have to pay up. Who knows if you do a good job, I might rub something of yours." Ava bites her lip after she says that. Seth blushes at her forwardness.

"Let's go get something to drink," Ava says, dragging him by the hand.

"There is a bar across the way. Why don't we go there?" He says, this stopping her in place.

"I am still not over the first hangover. I can't hold alcohol like I used to. Even though normally, I'm not that big of a drinker last night was a special occasion. I guess you could say because I drink probably a Year's worth of what I would normally drink. I was nervous because I didn't know anyone so I just tried to enjoy the free scotch. Which, by the way, was watered down. I drank a whole bottle before I felt the buzz. It tasted fine, it just was not the strength that I needed." Ava does this when she gets nervous about something. She runs her mouth like it is a 5k breast cancer awareness marathon.

"Noted," Seth takes her hand and they order their drinks together.
