Chapter 11 - Chapter Ten

Ava laughs as she gets into the passenger side of her car. She throws her keys his way.

"You crash her, I crush you." He smiles as he catches the keys with his right hand.

Ava takes a sip of Seth's drink, he glares at Ava for a second before winking at her and turning on the car.

"Just to let you know, I never drive. It's been about six months since I last was on a track." He explains revving the engine.

"You mean the road right?" Ava asks while putting the drink into the cup holders.

"No, the brother I was telling you about loves race tracks. He is sixteen now, his little sister the one mom was pregnant with is almost six, she's a doll." He explains while he drives.

"Also, it's the big apple no one drives." Ava smiles at his comment.

"Well I am from California and we drive there. I like being able to collect my thoughts without having to deal with a smelly Uber. Or an Uber who likes to undress me with his eyes the whole time. One guy almost killed me once because he was more focused on my cleavage instead of the semi in front of us." Ava explains laughing.

"Well, I wouldn't blame him. Coming from a man who has seen your breasts they are one gorgeous sight." Ava blushes, wishing she could playfully hit him without the risk of an accident.

"Hey, you're the one with abs of steel. You have amazing forearms as well." This causes Seth to blush and clear his throat.

"If you keep complimenting me like that my head will be too big and I won't be able to get out of the car." They both laugh at his joke.

"You seem too humble, I think you will take those compliments to heart, not to your ego." He smiles at her comment.

"Maybe, but maybe I can publish an issue saying how gorgeous independent women complimented me after I make a small comment on their breasts. I can picture the title now Breasts are the Best." Ava snorts at his comment. How ridiculous, he sounds saying that.

"You will piss off the booty community and be known as the ass-hat who published a whole article about a two-minute conversion." His laughter escapes, he tried his best to keep it in but the joy and thrill this girl gives him makes him unable to contain his pure joy.

"So I am an ass-hat now? I have to remember that for the next apology flowers." This time Ava slaps his shoulder.

"That's a sweet gesture, but next time instead of using your wallet, face me. That way you save those flowers from my non-green thumbs. Also, I would rather hear you call yourself an ass-hat. I would hate to have to picture it through your words." He continues to follow the GPS and when they reach her apartment, he hands the keys to the valet. They get out of the car and Ava walks him into the large lobby. It is very plain, but there are a bunch of paintings and fancy couches and a few coffee tables.

At the far end of the room is a front desk with a young woman at it.

"Hey, Jude." Ava waves at her, and smiles. Jude is in her early thirties and her father owns the place.

"It chicken parm night am I bringing some down for you?" Ava asks while pressing the up button to go up on the elevator.

"Oh pooh, Who is this lovely gentleman?" Jude waves and winks.

"Mr. Guard is a friend of the family and my client," Ava explains waiting for the lift.

"Does this cutie have a girl?" She looks from Ava to Seth glancing at his figure. Jude looks him up and down.

"Actually yes, I am seeing someone. We just don't have labels yet." Seth explains while the elevator door opens up. Ava then pulls out her phone to text her assistant.

Ava: Pack some food to go. Also, don't leave your purse again, lol.

Becky: I don't know how you make this so good!

Ava: Meal prep saves time and you're the one who put it in the oven.

Becky: The SAUCE is so good! My five-year-old Taylor likes it better than ketchup. Also, she is one of the pickiest eaters in the whole world.

Ava: Thank you so much. Grandma taught me everything, I know. I also, before my ex and I split took cooking classes to distract me from the impending doom and gloom of my relationship.

Ava looks up from her phone and sees Seth just looking at her. The elevator stops at her floor.

"Our food is done. What is your drink of preference?" Ava asks as Bear comes barreling out to her. As soon as Bear sees Seth, Bear begins to growl.

"No! You are going to be a good boy, this is mommy's new friend." Ava picks up Bear and looks him in the eyes. Then she pulls him close to her and snuggles.

"Becky!" Ava calls out into her apartment.

"Sorry for the mess, this place is just temporary so boxes are everywhere until I find the house I want to call home.  Originally I was going to stay here, but then I met Jude's dick of a dad and realized, I could not live in a place created by someone so cruel. Jude talks to me about how she wants to escape her father's grasp. But that is her story to tell." Ava turns to him and smiles.

"Sorry for l rambling, I'm not used to guests."  She feels embarrassed and her cheeks are flushed. She is normally confident, but this man is different. She doesn't want to keep every brick of her walls up.

"Also, I had Becky place our meal into the oven. The ravioli is three cheese and I made some meat ones for my assistant's daughter Taylor." The smells from the kitchen hit them in waves.

"It smells really good," he says this making Ava blush a little.

"Oh trust me, Seth, anything made by this woman is fantastic. Most of the time, I don't even cook." She smiles and laughs.

Taylor runs from the kitchen with sauce under her lip. She runs straight to Ava, Ava scoops her up.

"How is my favorite little princess?" Ava asks while getting squeezed to death by the little one's grip.

"I am yummy in my tummy." Ava takes this opportunity to blow a few raspberries on her tummy. Fits of Taylor's laughter fill the room.

"Mommy says we got to go because you have a date. Is that him?" She asks, glaring at him. She sticks her tongue out at him and then she pouts.

"Don't give him that face," Ava says in a sing-song-like voice.

"He is handsome like mommy says." This causes Becky to blush.

"Yeah, he is." This causes Taylor to stick her tongue out again at him.

"You are too pretty for him." This causes him to laugh.

"Yeah, I know, little one. You are even too pretty for me as well." This causes Taylor to bury her head into Ava's chest to hide her blushing cheeks.  Taylor may have just developed a small crush on him.

"You are right. Mr. But if you hurt Auntie Ava like the last one, you are going to go to hell like the last one." Becky opens her mouth in shock.

"What has been grandma been teaching you? I swear that was her just talking. You do not say that word! Or shall I tell your grandpa about it? We could save money by not going to Disney." Becky says pointing at her daughter

"I apologize for that, her grandmother is a strong Christian and believes she has the power of God means everything." Becky then grabs Ava's arm.

"Could you excuse us for a second? If you wouldn't mind while we go and get drinks and dinner, could you watch Taylor?" This question makes Seth smile.

"Of course," With that being said Ava is dragged to the kitchen.

"Spill!" Becky demands wanting to know what is going on with Seth and Ava.

Ava just shrugs and says...

Cliff hanger! Oops, lol...
