Chapter 2 - Aren't we all murderers?

"You shouldn't be alive!" Riya turned on the bed

"You're a monster." She flipped again.

"You were a mistake, mistakes are meant to be corrected!" She sank even further into the bed made out of feathers.

"Die" The wraith grabbed her throat, trying to strangle her.

She pulled and pulled on her neck before releasing a wave of magic. Gasping she woke up, her hands trembled involuntarily, she could still feel the touch of the wraiths, she clutched the bed sheet, her knuckles turning white. Though she wouldn't admit it Riya was afraid of the wraiths. Letting the feeling sink in, the feeling that she conquered them she closed her eyes still sprawled on the bed

"Another day for me you bastards." She smirked as she opened her eyes and looked at her piece of art, the one on her neck and the wall. Every time she damaged the walls and every time she fixed them back, her neck? healed like nothing was there, it was more like a morning routine.

Riya's room was almost the girly type, it was red, the color of blood and had charms everywhere, one the wall to her right an antler's skull hung there, and the wall to her left had knives of different sorts displayed, she didn't bother with beddings, they weren't important, her skin looked fine every single day.

"Riya, I made food for you." Riya scowled, she just struggled for her life and she wasn't about to die from food poisoning.

"Riya? Are you awake?" She closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep, "damn right I'm awake" she muttered trying her best to look asleep or maybe dead. If she was dead he'd leave her alone, right?

"We both know you're not asleep Riya." She didn't budge. He doesn't have any reason to think she wasn't asleep.

"You might be thinking I have no evidence to back me up but the walls look fresher than they were last night which means you had your 'episode' and your breaths are calculated like you want me to think you're dead." He spoke like he read her mind. "meh meh meh meh episode meh meh meh dead" she mocked in her head.

Pudding looked at her with his eyebrows arched up waiting for her to stop her shenanigans but she remained still. He sighed retreating from her chamber.

"She does this every time I cook carrot soup." pudding mumbled and headed straight for the jug containing the blood of the game he obtained the day before. "hehe" he grinned "You asked for it" he let out before going back to the room.

"You evil blond!" Riya screamed when the blood touched her face, smelly as decaying poop, she jumped from the bed, her red hair drenched. "You should know I killed a blond yesterday. And maybe I would have killed you by accident if I wasn't so careful!" She made air quotes as she said accident and pulled his hair at the last part knocking the food out of his hands and into the floor.

For a split second, before the food hit the ground she rejoiced at the thought of the food on the floor. Maybe today would be a good day after all.

Pudding stopped the fall, ruining her two seconds of happiness. Before the food could spill on the floor he caught it, using a little magic to put it back in the bowl, every single drop earning a look of horror on Riya's face. Who would think the great Qyshol was afraid of carrot soup?

"Nice try Riya, you will eat my food and say I'm the best." He glared at her, was it very obvious? She examined him for a bit, giving him the stink eye. Even though she would never admit it, Pudding looked good, he had brown eyes which contrasted with his blond hair Riya sometimes wondered what he would do if she shaved his hair, he was pretty buff...but she would never agree to that.

"eight, nine, and... ten" You've checked me out for ten seconds already, today is going to be a good day...eat" he gestured at the food.

"You wish, I was just wondering how you do it, get uglier every day, I'm sorry pudding but very soon I would vomit each time I see you." she cringed she took a very little sip, tasting the blood that dripped from her hair.

His laughter boomed, drowning the whole room and it was infectious too because Riya joined in soon enough "How are you doing? Were they hard on you?" Pudding looked at Riya with worry in his eyes. He had seen the wraiths only once when he forced himself into her dreams and he peed his pants...literally.

"I'm okay." She brushed it off and took a big mouthful, she would rather eat pudding's bitter carrot soup than think of the wraiths.

"But you look pale, what did they do this time?" he pressed on, Riya wanted to say it was fine but suddenly she got an Idea.

"Boohoo" she started a fake cry. "It was terrible." She wiped nonexistent tears from her eyes.

"What happened Riya?" Pudding edged closer. He didn't know whether to take her seriously or whack her on the head.

"It was horrible, I saw something worse than all I have seen before... There was a wraith and when it came close enough for me to see his face." She paused building up suspense. "I...saw...yourstupidface." she blurted as she hit the tray. Flipping the food out of the window.

"Haha very funny." Pudding rolled his eyes probably not amused but Riya thought otherwise, she was bawling with laughter on the bed. She didn't care that her hair was covered with blood, only when she was out of breath did she sit up again, she took one look at an angry pudding and resumed laughing.

"Your face resembled a pig's butt." She managed to squeeze out the sentence in between laughs.

"You are gullible." She said as she squeezed his cheeks. He had a very good comeback for her but was cut short.

"Stay still." Riya said getting on guard.

"What's wrong?" Even with his super hearing Pudding couldn't hear what Riya heard.

"Riya, I've got good news for you. Would you like the opportunity of a Lifetime?" The very familiar voice said from miles away. Riya was trying to figure out who it was, trying to get her voice-to-face recognition on, she was trying so hard she almost missed the knife.

Inches to Pudding's eye Riya caught it. Pudding had a startled expression like his life flashed before his eyes."What's wrong Pudding?" She smirked taunting him "Scared? Life flashed before your eyes? Did you see the light?".

"Honestly? Yes" Pudding swallowed his saliva "What's that?" He had little drops of sweat on his face even though he didn't do anything.

"A friend of mine said hi." She shrugged it off.

"He tried to kill me, is that how you say hi? What kind of friends do you have?" He asked like he didn't know, he was living proof...or not so living.

"Calm down. Stop making it look like a big deal." Riya stood up, she hated this about Pudding, he was a scared chicken or maybe he didn't trust her enough.

"It is a big deal! I would be dead if you did not catch it!" Pudding got up too. Clearly irritated, his death was not a big deal? Sometimes he forgot how evil Riya was.

"But I did! I caught it so you can stop now. Besides, if it hit you I would bring you back." she whispered, "That's why I am not worried." Riya twirled the knife in her hand, more interested in it than what she was saying.

"I don't know about you but I don't fancy dying just because 'you will bring me back' I'm not a toy, do you know how painful the process is?" he paused for a bit. Maybe that wasn't a great argument. "You know what?" he hesitated again, "forget about it, let's just see what this is about."

"Riya?" Pudding questioned.

"Huh." She didn't look at him, he knew she wanted him to leave before she unveiled the message but he wouldn't, not after he almost died.

"Riya? I'm not going anywhere, open it, I won't let you do something stupid, especially one from a murderer who tried to kill me."

"Aren't we all murderers?" she smirked feeling excited, a bolt of energy jolted her from her murderous thoughts as she unlocked the knife.
