Katsuki Bakugo Pov
Ever since he can remember, Bakugo had a good life. He got whatever he had needed, and he had a lot of friends as well. During those times he never had an image of himself or more like an awareness about where he fit in the puzzle known as society.
But that changed on the day he got his quirk, the way the sparks began to blow out of his hands made him feel powerful and after a few days when he managed to do his first explosion, he was livid and filled with energy. He believed that nothing can ever stop him. And then the people around him started to treat him differently. Things became even easier for him, whatever he wanted, he got from others whatever wrong he did, was accepted by others and was not punished in any way by them either. That's when he began to accept the fact that he was greater than everyone else and that he was the main character and everyone else was either a stepping stone or an extra that he did not have to care about.
When he learned that his friend Izuku had no quirk, it only strengthened his belief that he was the main character and that's why Deku who clearly was an Extra did not even have a quirk while he had one which made everyone around him respect him.
For some time, nothing was in his way in thinking that he was on top of the world, that is until that dreadful day he had come to the realisation.
Like every day he had gone into the forest nearby with his friends. He had also taken Deku as well. That day he had accidently slipped and fell off a wooden bridge into a shallow stream below. He was covered in mud, but he was not hurt in any manner, and he brushed the concerns of his friends while smiling as well. But then Deku came near him.
He came near him asking whether he was hurt with a worried face and for a moment that action stuck deep into Bakugo's mind.
Deku, the clearly inferior person who was less than him in every manner, showed concern towards him. To him who stood in the pinnacle of potential and talent.
For the first time ever, Bakugo thought from the perspective of the other person. He began to think, if he was in Deku's position, would he have showed concern for another person, would he have cared for anything other than himself.
He then looked at the video of Allmight, his idol and his target. He began to think who would be more suitable for that role. Until that day, he considered no one other than him as the person who will stand in the place of the no1 hero. But now he saw Deku on that spot. Deku even without a quirk made him think that he was inferior.
And Bakugo did not want to accept that fact.
From that day on, he began to do his best to be the best at everything. He learned cooking, studied and got first in class every time, sports, music, arts etc everything that he came across he made sure to excel at it. But every time he looked at Deku, he knew that even when he has everything he missed the thing that he needed the most.
He then began bullying Deku, to make him lose the spirit that made him feel inferior towards him, but it did not work. No matter what he did, Deku always had his nose up on a book with information about heroes like he is going t become one, one day.
Seeing that never giving up attitude angered Bakugo the most and made him be angry at everything. And before he knew it, that became his normal character. He was not even able to remember how he acted before he got this temper. This just led to further bullying of Deku until one day, a random guy knocked him out in one strike and from what her remembered before getting knocked out, he did it casually like it was normal and easy for him to do so.
After that day he never saw that guy again, but Deku began to change from that day, he saw him training everyday and he seemed to be developing as well. His lanky and skinny look began to change, and his arms became more muscular as well. Seeing this irked Bakugo in a way that he cannot explain, so he decided to beat him up so bad that he never feels like improving will make him better again.
So, Bakugo brought him to the back of the school and with his lackeys watching, decided to beat him up like always but this time something changed from normal.
Deku began to fight back.
Bakugo never thought that something like this will happen, and he was shocked at the resistance Deku was showing. Seeing the resistance, Bakugo began to knock him back using his quirk. But every time Deku fell, he stood back throwing one punch after another again and again. Bakugo finally used an explosion directly wounding him enough that he was not able to get up.
But even then Deku did not stop, he kept on struggling and trying to get back up. Bakugo then saw Deku's eyes and found out that even with all those wounds and Pain, Deku still has not given up.
Again, for the second time, Bakugo realised that he was inferior to Deku in that aspect. He froze with fear and then saw Deku fainted due to his injuries. He then saw his scared lackeys taking Deku to the infirmary because of the burns and wounds. But Bakugo still was not able to move.
He felt all his hard work till now to be the best at everything has not even made him surpass Deku in the one thing he was always envious that Deku has it and scared that he never had it.
