Morgan's pov
I saw her shiver in fear as I recognized the card that fell from her bag.
I didn't want to believe what was coming to my head.
Dad took the bracelet from me and looked at me weirdly.
"You know what, see me in my office now"! I ordered, taking the bracelet and walking out of my dad's office.
I heard her tiny footsteps behind me as I made my way to my office.
Mariissa stood nearby, timid and looking at the wall like there was a portrait there, then at the non existent dirt on her nails.
Looking at her brought more annoyance to my bones.
"Where did you get this bracelet from?", I asked as calmly as my annoyance could carry me.
She looked at me like she didn't understand what I was saying.
"Do I need to repeat myself?", I shouted.
"Someone gave it to me", she whispered
I scoffed,my eyes rolling in shock and my voice laced with utter disbelief which was evident in my tone.
"What?... Where… when"…I asked, desperately wishing she would say something different from what I know.
"I can't give you the details sir, it's personal", she said.
I threw my hands in the air in exasperation.
She averted my gaze to look at the wrinkles on her skirt , looking uncomfortable with the tension already built up in the room.
"I misplaced this bracelet yesterday, and it's branded, so you can't claim it's not mine" I said.
She raised up her head, her eyes wide, curiosity boldly written on her face.
"Wait, were you by any chance in 'Lovable club' last night? '' she asked stupidly.
"Yes", I said in a more angry tone.
"Was it between 9pm to 10pm?", she asked like she was a detective.
"Get to the point woman"! I screamed.
I saw her cower in fear and I wondered what a stupid person she was.
"Okay, let me do you the honor of explaining", I said when she went silent staring hard at her ugly shoes like they were diamonds.
"I was with a lady last night, and I dropped this card and some notes for her, so I ask you again, did you steal this card? "
She looked at me, likely offended by my statement.
"With all due respect sir, I am not a thief and would never be one", she said sharply.
"Explain then".
"If you must know sir, I was with a man last night and he dropped that bracelet, I think it might have fallen from his pocket ".
Silence enveloped the room, it dawned on me that the lady I had sex with, one I enjoyed very well, was no one else but my clumsy, incompetent, low-class secretary. I almost choked with irritation.
"Did you seduce me on purpose?, oohhh you think by having a one night stand with me you can blackmail me into liking you or extort money from me just the way you did at the airport". I asked as I got on my feet.
Marrissa had the audacity to look at me, from my head down to my feet and up again before bursting into an annoyingly loud laughter.
"Wait… .did you just say I tried to seduce you!.... For what reason exactly,... have you seen yourself in the mirror… I wouldn't try even if I was paid a million bucks to do that". She said, bursting into another round of laughter.
Ouch, I don't know what hurts more, her words or her agonizing laughter.
I walked towards her in anger, she took steps back until her back hit the wall.
I placed my hand on the wall, above her head pinning her to the wall.
"You will not speak to me in just manner again you cheap slut". I said.
Tears rolled down her eyes as she stared at me, I could feel her pain through her tears but I didn't care, I'm the angry one here, what would my friends say when they hear the lady I I enjoyed sexing was my secretary.
I shook my head in anger walking back to my seat.
"Get out" ! I ordered.
She walked out slowly and I sighed.
"Why her?, why me?" I whispered.
*******"**************
I seethed with fury when I came out of my office and saw Marrissa. I rolled my eyes.
She was standing there so still and I watched as she fumbled with her cheap bag and definitely made her way towards the exit.
"Where to, if I may ask?"
"There are some emails you need to respond to ,I also need some documents to be submitted on my desk by 12 am.
I stared at her with so much indignation.
She fidgeted a little and looked down at her worn out shoes .
"I'm so sorry sir....."
"That's not what I asked you." I yelled." It's not yet close of work,so why are you in a hurry to leave? We have a meeting to attend tomorrow by 10 am and I need you to type out some articles for the meeting."
"I know about that sir but I really need to rush down and see my mother ." Then she replied, looking away and trying to avoid my gaze.
Her excuse about visiting her mother further fueled my anger.
"And how is that any business of mine ?" I demanded, his voice dripping with disdain.
Marissa stood her ground, defiance,I knew she had plans of infuriating me further.
"I've obtained permission from your Father to visit my mother at the hospital ,every Tuesday is visiting day." she retorted.
This girl was getting on my nerves, the thought of wrapping my hands around her neck and snapping it waved through my mind.
My patience was wearing thin.
I scoffed at her feeble attempt to assert her independence.
"Your mother? Do you think I'm a fool?" I sneered." I have never come across someone as stupid, clumsy and incompetent as you are,I wonder why my father can't just listen to me and fire your sorry ass."
Then I moved towards her, closing the gap between us with deliberate menace.
"You're not leaving until I say so."
But she refused to back down, she was so stubborn.
"I've made arrangements for that" she said her voice wavering and I noticed that the tension crackling in the air was making her scared. "I need to be with her.She has cancer."
What was the last sentence for, I didn't ask her for that.
Was she making this up to make me feel sorry for her?
"And how is that stupid piece of information any business of mine." I asked and watched her gasp in horror." I don't freaking care."
"You just can't say horrible....." She couldn't complete her sentence as tears washed down her face.
A surge of satisfaction washed over me ,I watched her wipe her eyes .
This act gladdened my soul.
I watched the frustration and pain flicker in her eyes.
"Fine, go then, take your stupid self out of here." I spat, relishing in her momentary defeat.
"But don't expect a warm welcome when you return."
She stormed out of the exit, hurrying perhaps so I couldn't see her tears.
I stood there stewing in my own victory ,I had put her in her place, reminded her who held the power in here.
But my triumph was short-lived as a disturbing thought washed through my mind.
I hope this clumsy lady is on birth pills.
