Chereads / Death Bringer: Eyes of Death / Chapter 5 - The Rule of the Jungle

Chapter 5 - The Rule of the Jungle

For a whole five minutes. Neru just hid himself on top of the tree not daring to make any movements. He only has his eyes on the giant turtle who suddenly turns its head on the left.

The turtle's eyes were as black as ink changed to bloody red with crescent moon designs on them.

'What now? Does it have some kind of special eyes like mine and what does it do?' Neru was really surprised at this time. 'Could this demon beast be as strong as the Qi refining realm of cultivators?'

Based on the knowledge of the original host of the body he was in. As the heir of the Ye Clan, the original Neru was still aware of the realms of cultivation.

The first realm is called the Qi refining realm where a cultivator absorbs the Qi in the environment to strengthen his bones, muscles, skin, and internal organs. Then, the second realm was the foundation establishment followed by the golden core formation realm. As for the next subsequent realms, he doesn't know. Because even the strong in the Ye Clan was only a foundation establishment while the strongest in the Delius County was a golden core.

Beyond the golden core formation, they belong to the ruling class or sect masters of the kingdom the Delius Country was part of.

'If this giant turtle is in the Qi refining realm. Then I would die a hundred times in just a few seconds if it sees me.' Neru curiously watched the monster's behavior while heaving a sigh. 'What the fuck does it wants to do now?'

The giant turtle's neck extended upwards with its bloody red eyes looking in a particular direction. The crescent moon on its pupil began to rotate eerily counterclockwise. Suddenly, the entire protective shell of the turtle covered with numerous trees began to vibrate, and then...

BANG!

It launched itself with sudden acceleration like a bazooka. The explosive power and speed made it look like a blur. It collided with trees and left devastation on its trails.

'That speed is almost 600+ meters per hour. This world is crazy.' Subconsciously, Neru ran in the direction where the giant turtle went. It's not that he was courting but he was rather curious about what made such a powerful creature eager.

'Fortunately, I didn't try to fight that darned monster. With its speed alone I won't be able to escape. My body might explode upon contact or I might become a meat paste if that thing rammed itself to me.'

Neru jumped from one tree to another. How fast is 610 mph? Well, to put it in perspective, his top speed as a mad cyclist in his past life was only 70 mph and it was already at a level that made him keep up with most cars on the road. Not to mention, 610 meters per hour? He doesn't doubt that it wasn't the turtle's top speed.

Even with his Conceptual Eyes of Death that makes him deadly. He needs to be able to hit it, right? Plus it has such a massive body. That alone would make it hard to hit the end points.

Just like that, Neru had been on the chase for fifteen minutes now but he couldn't even see the silhouette of the gigantic turtle. If not for the ground trembling, signs of the turtles presence, he would have given up already.

Neru felt his breath become heavier. If not for his body that was now on par with top 1% of olympians, he doubts that he would be able.to ran at such high-intensity at constant pace. Sweat poured from his forehead and his back making the clothes that he just washed on the lake wet.

Fortunately, it didn't take long for Neru to spot two small dots ahead. Yeah small dots, they only looks small because of the gap of distance. The farther an object is, the smaller it would look like.

Another few minutes, Neru witnessed what it seems to be a an epic fight between the gigantic turtle and a bear in the same height.

Behind the bear, there was a tree with white leaves and there was one eye catching fruit releasing a radiant white light.

'So a conflict of interest? It seems that bear is guarding the fruit. What's special about that fruit?' An eager look appeared on Neru face as he saw the fruit's dazzling white light constantly experience change.

Well, the intensity of light become more and more stronger that it would soon cover everything and can make anyone temporarily blind if one look upon it for longer periods.

Neru immediately turned his head the two behemoths fight with each other as if they want to tear themselves apart just to emerge victorious and eat the fruit.

'Just what is that damn fruit? A heavenly treasure beneficial for them? Should I try to sneakily steal it while they were fighting? But if I was caught, the ire of two powerful creatures is enough to send me to the damn afterlife... What to do?'

Neru tried to rack his brain to come up with a solution as the fight between the bear amd turtle began to become more ferocious.

The turtle uses its shell to its advantage to resist the paws of the bear.

The bear sent out its paw which was covered with white mist but the turle seems to be aware of the threat of the attack retracted its head inside the shell.

The decision turned out to be right as the claws on the paw of the bear surrounded with mist managed to inflict a large dent on the durable shell of the turtle. It was worth mentioning that the normal attack of the besr that broke fifth plus trees already couldn't even scratch the shell.

Neru watched in amazement as hundreds of vines appeared from the back of the turtle and wrapped themselves to the bear.

A few seconds, the bear struggled hard, ripping ten vines with each swipe of its paw. However, the vines seems to be endless and it couldn't keep up the speed at which the vines reproduces.

A minute later, the bear's entire limbs was fully wrapped and three minutes later it stopped moving as the vines began to contract.

The sounds of bones cracking and popping continously with rythimic sound made Neru who was watching shudder. It really scared the shit out of him since he knew that if he was in the Bear's position. He wouldn't fare better even with his special eyes.

Neru took a deep breath. 'The rule of the jungle!'
