Chapter 1 - Who the heck is this strange man

On a Sunday afternoon, the sun shone so brightly and the rays hitting every house and every room except the basement in the Trevor manor; Seline sat on her mattress which was surprisingly clean, a book in her hand whose front cover was blank only the black cover was seen, she seemed indulged in the book and coldness of the room, it's not like it could helped anyways, she was living in a basement with no windows and only one door ( well two cause the toilet door's there) the basement was actually quite big, not really big but actually long and really narrow, " Seline", called a quite shrill feminine voice probably coming from the floor above. She wanted to ignore it, but she knew the consequences if she did. She made quick but heavy steps in order to make her upcoming presence known by the other party. She arrived at her destination; she stood in front of the woman who requested her presence and bowed down making her stare at the floor, "Arise" said the shrill feminine voice. Seline raised up her head to make eye contact with the blonde woman with dull blue eyes and fair skin and face powdered with all sorts of makeup. The blonde lady looked her up and down, eyeing her fairly dirty clothes looking like rags compared to her regal and may I add expensive dress. "Disgusting" said in a low tone but loud enough for Seline to hear, "So I called you hear to tell you to clean my r ruby shoes", Seline nodded her head swiftly and was about to go until the blonde lady stopped her, "And don't use rags, use some silk materials from the tailor, I don't want your poverty infecting it" Seline nodded her head with an expressionless face, she was used to this. The blonde lady let her go. When Seline left the blonde lady's presence, she sighed heavily she had to walk a whole lot longer than she was supposed to it. She walked to the tailor who she greeted, and the tailor smiled at her, although the tailor was a vampire, she was really sweet even to Seline who was known as a 'useless human slave', Seline picked up some silk materials from the floor and walked out. All she wanted to do was to finish work as soon as possible and go read her book; for someone who was a maid she was really lazy, and the people of the Trevor manor didn't get that... at all, she worked almost all the time; in the day, night, midnight, even her day offs, she was given the worst room in the entire manor, the smallest pay and they expected gratitude from her, just because she was one of the 40% of humans are not as much as the vampires that didn't mean they were hardly seen, all the rich homes had at least one human kept as a slave or whatever they wanted them as; they were seen as the lowest of the low in the chain even though they were only two species which were the vampires and the humans, the humans were seen as inferior, a source of food, no powers at all and over all weak.

Seline cleaned the ruby shoes quickly and was tempted to spit and was tempted to spit on it, but she didn't want to get caught by those nosy vampire maids who couldn't keep their mouths to themselves. She placed them carefully at the feet of the blonde lady and sprinted away, she found her book way more interesting than the almighty Trevor manor. She didn't even sit down on her bed even a chair before she heard her name again, "Seline!!!", the already known shrill feminine voice was heard again, 'What does she want this time', thought Seline, she dragged her feet to the floor that the blonde lady was, "So, I want you to stand over there ok", she said pointing to a random pillar, "Huh??", said English, "Don't you understand English, I might need you later and I don't want to strain my beautiful voice calling you" 'You mean frog voice' thought Seline, she was about to turn and stand near the pillar but the blonde lady stopped her, "Can't you apologize", Seline paused for a second for a moment with a confused look on her face," Uhh, I apologize", "Good, now go on to the pillar", Seline obeyed and walked over to the pillar. Was she going to stand there doing nothing, she probably would, this wasn't the first time it was happening, but she liked it when Lady Garcia called her friends, they always gave the latest gossip and Seline loved for some reason, although she had only one person to share the gossip with Laura, her only friend in the whole Trevor manor, she was also a vampire but she was really friendly and also gave the latest gossip.

The sound of a door was heard, and two ladies dressed in extravagant dresses came in, one with jet black hair and sparkling green eyes and one with blonde hair and green eyes, they walked over quite quickly to Lady Garcia, three of them squealing like mice simultaneously, Seline hated the sound, the two ladies sat down on the two single chairs facing the white coffee table at the centre of the chairs draped in white and gold silk material, the table was full of tea, scones, biscuits and other for the enjoyment of the ladies (including Lady Garcia), Lady Garcia welcomed the two other ladies, picked up a cup of tea with a biscuit and sat down on a chair, the lady with the black hair started, " I heard your father is throwing a ball Lady Garcia and the king was invited, is that true?" "Of course it is, and although the invite is still pending, there is a ninety percent chance that the king will come" said Lady Garcia with pride overflowing from her tone," And what made you think that", said the other blonde-haired lady, 'Also my question' thought Seline, resting her eyes on a random pillar but kept her eyes on the three ladies at her far left," Oh my dear Lady Victoria, you know that ball I went to that was held by the king held" "Yes" said Lady Victoria and the black haired lady, "Well I didn't tell you guys but I and the king locked eye with each other for more than a minute and I swear I saw a hint of a smile on his face, " What? really!" said the black-haired girl excitedly," Yeah really" said Victoria not believing the obvious lie told by Garcia, Seline who was looking at a random pillar shot her eyes to Lady Garcia, that Lady was really a big liar and what was worse was that Lady Alicia believed the obvious lie, it was obvious she was really dense unlike Lady Victoria who was smarter than the both of them. "Of course ladies, he looked at me with his beautiful eyes and my heart fluttered his handsome face enchanted me and even if it was a masquerade party and he was wearing a full-face mask I knew he was handsome, and I also knew he wanted to dance with me...." Lady Victoria rolled her eyes so hard that it made it seem like her iris was going to stick to the back of her head; Seline wasn't really enjoying the gossip this time, the only new thing she discovered was how big of a liar Lady Garcia was, it seemed like a talent if you looked at it from a point. After the whole lying session, Seline was dismissed, and she was more than happy to skip off to her room, but her happiness was cut short when she heard her name again, "Seline!!!!" called a deeper female voice, it seemed like the Head Maid of the Trevor manor was calling her , she was an old lady with white curly hair a huge stature, a huge mole on her chin and really fair skin with wrinkles all over. Seline walked sluggishly to the Head Maid, Mrs. Rose. Mrs. Rose hated Seline and Seline hated her too. Seline stood Infront of Mrs. Rose, "You called me Head Maid" said Seline in bored tone " Don't talk to me like that you filthy human" Seline rolled her eyes making the old lady more annoyed than she already was "Sorry" he said quite respectfully; Seline didn't have enough energy to deal with the Head Maid so she wanted to avoid all forms of problems; the Head Maid looked at Seline with a disgusted look on her face, Seline wondered who was more disgusting between the both of them, "Anyways, I need you to go to the market and get some meat, tomatoes and shrimp, were almost out of them", said the Head Maid, "Ok" Seline said without putting up a fight, on a normal day she would have asked questions like, 'What happened to the other maids' or 'Can't you do it yourself' which would always cause her to have more workload than before or she wouldn't eat anything that day or the next, but Seline didn't care.

Seline went to the kitchen picked up a straw basket and left for the market; the market wasn't really far from the Trevor manor, but it wasn't close either, she would've taken a small carriage to the market, but she didn't feel safe in those short distance carriages; They were very old, rickety, small and always jampacked with people and their goods, the donkey were so unhealthy, they loke like they were going to die at any moment and not to mention the coachmen who were always bald and fat. Seline preferred to walk, although it was a thirty-minute walk it didn't seem so long to her.

Seline also like the peace and tranquility of the streets while walking, well not really peace and tranquility because there was always a lot of noise outside the Trevor manor, but she liked it cause at least Lady Garcia, the Head Maid and other people disturbing her life there, she felt free, kind of.

Seline was halfway there (the market) when she suddenly felt something wet on her face and her feet which was partly covered in shoes. "What the heck", she muttered bringing her left hand to her face in order to see hat splashed on her face and when she looked at her hand and she saw mud. She turned her head to the left and saw a fancy looking carriage and a man coming out of it, but what caught her eyes was the obvious layer of mud on the wheels of the carriage, she was livid; Her clothes weren't anything special but it would be a pain to wash mud off it, plus she wasn't going to walk around the streets looking like a mad woman; Seline looked at the man wearing an expensive looking robe, it seemed like he was a royal but that didn't matter to her at the moment.

Seline marched up to the man who was inspecting the wheels of the carriage, it seemed like a wheel on the carriage was faulty or so. She tapped the tall man on his shoulder, he didn't seem to notice o she tapped him again, he still didn't notice her presence, 'Who the heck is this man', she tapped him again and this time she snapped, "Uh hello Mr. are your sensory organs stagnant or what"
