Chereads / I am Punishment / Chapter 15 - #15

Chapter 15 - #15

#15

It was Kim Woo-jin who burst into the door. Kim Woo-jin, who looked slightly exotic, entered with a surprised face. However, he closed his mouth when he saw a guest.

"Oh, you had a guest. I'll talk to you when I'm done."

Kim Woo-jin tried to close the door of the counseling room and sit in the next room, saying that he was in a hurry but would be considerate of the customer who came first.

"Woojin! It's okay. This is my friend. This is Han Ji-soo. I'm just here to hang out. If you're in a hurry, you can tell me."

"My friend... Oh, my. You're so beautiful… Haha. Hello. I'm Kim Woojin."

Kim said hello with a sad smile. Han Ji-soo also stood up and said hello.

"My name is Han Ji-soo. I'm working at Gangnam Police Station."

"You're a police officer...."

Kim Woo-jin caught Ji-hoon's attention, but Ji-hoon pretended not to know.

"Well done, then. No. Would it be a little troublesome if the jurisdiction was different?"

Kim Woo-jin agonized for a moment. As she became more curious, Ji-soo urged Kim Woo-jin to speak.

"It's okay. Tell me. I'll help you with what I can."

At that, Kim Woo-jin managed to confess, scratching his head.

"That's what it is…."

As usual, the story he told was about foreign workers.

"I had friends in Incheon. All of them are Malaysian friends. But they were unilaterally assaulted there."

"Who is he? Korean?"

Lee asked. Kim Woo-jin shook his head.

"No, I'm not Korean. The place I went to was a Malaysian organization-managed club. There, we drank and got into an argument. You must have wanted to drink to feel better and relieve some of your stress."

"So what happened?"

Han Ji-soo asked with his arms crossed.

"Yes. I think I got into a quarrel with another gang there and caused some commotion. But the problem is from there. There was only one person from the Malaysian organization who came to stop the dispute."

"One? How many were there on this side."

Lee Ji-hoon tilted his head.

"Three friends who came to see me and three who got into a fight. There are six in total. But only one showed up."

"So what?"

"But one person overpowered all of them."

"One person? All of them?

Han Ji-soo repeatedly asked if it was possible, but Kim Woo-jin nodded.

"That's what I'm saying. I heard he's also Malaysian, but he was different from ordinary bullies. Maybe he was left alone because he almost fainted with each fist he gave out. But there was a guy who held on until the end, and he somehow punched me once or twice."

"Let's just pretend we're fainted."

Lee Ji-hoon said with a beaming lip. The story of someone being unilaterally beaten was not a very pleasant story, and his tone was full of discomfort.

"Then he said he rather liked it and took an unusual knife out of his arms."

"A knife?"

The man who instantly knocked down five people with his fist took out a knife saying that it was funny to the person who resisted with grit? At first glance, he was out of his mind.

"Yes. There was a round hole in the middle, so it was a knife that put your finger in and turned around, but it was eventually stabbed here and there. It wasn't a fatal injury, but I was told that I was going to die after being stabbed a few times."

"Is he okay?"

Kim Woo-jin nodded to Lee Ji-hoon's question.

Fortunately, the club management organization rushed me out and stopped the bleeding. Then they contacted me immediately and took me to the treatment doctor without questioning any of my deceased friends. Luckily, I'm better now, but..."

Kim Woo-jin scratched his head.

"I'm worried, lawyer Lee. I have a friend from the police as well, so I ask for your help. Could you look into this case in detail? Even so, how could you cut me for getting into a dispute? Does this make sense?"

Kim Woo-jin vented his anger, recalling his Malaysian friend who was groaning in the bed. He just got into a quarrel while going out to play, but he came back from a knife attack.

I couldn't even report it to the police because I was scared.

The funny thing about Korea is that it needs to open the door to immigration, saying, "We don't have enough manpower due to low birth rate and aging population." However, the door is so narrow that it makes one wonder if real manpower is needed.

Although it attracts manpower in other ways, absurdly, there are serious calls from influential politicians to give them discriminatory wages.

A typical example is that the Seoul Metropolitan Government shouted that foreign housekeepers should be given 1 million won per month. Where do they live and work for 1 million won per month? What are their labor values different from Koreans? And so on, and so on, it was criticized a lot and eventually decided to receive the same wage as Koreans at the minimum wage level.

The uproar has made it plain that Korean policymakers have not yet thought deeply about the path to a real multicultural society and how to treat foreigners.

"It's certainly strange."

Han Ji-soo sensed something strange like a police officer.

"A typical gangster wouldn't take out a knife. A man that good at fighting would just kick him out of the way when he was incapacitated. But did he take out a knife?"

Han Ji-soo's eyes became sharp.

"It's not the usual way. It's not the kind of response that can come from the standpoint of managing the business. If a person dies, it's going to get worse."

"You know, right? Something's wrong, right?"

Kim Woo-jin nodded loudly to Jisoo, who agreed with his opinion.

"It's strange. The knife he uses... It's a knife called the Karambit. You put your finger in that hole, turn it around, and cut or stab a person, which was used in Southeast Asia..."

She was so engrossed that she gave up her knowledge that she hurriedly stopped talking. Lee Ji-hoon shakes his head again for doing that, and Kim Woo-jin is only laughing awkwardly.

"I'm sorry. If I think about it, I talk to myself."

"Oh, yes."

Jisoo woke up with a cough.

"What were you going to ask JI HOON?"

"No. It's pretty suspicious, so I was just going to talk to you. Even though you're a lawyer, I thought it would be difficult to investigate such a gang."

"That's right."

Ji-soo also urged Ji-hoon to get up with his chin.

"Ji-hoon and I will look into it. You said Woo-jin, right? Don't worry. And they told us not to go near them again. Tell them to find out the procedures so they can stay legal."

"Thank you. I'll text you the address."

Kim Woo-jin bowed his head and left there.

"You know your secret, don't you?"

"What?"

Jisoo asked, her eyes glistening. Her bobble hair is shiny. Her eyes are already convinced.

"You're good at making excuses. You came to 'counseling' for urgent work? There's nothing I can do about an assault case from you. It's not like there's a medical fee problem or you're on the verge of being kicked out because you're stuck at the immigration office. Then what's the point? He's not here to tell you what kind of power he has. And didn't he ask you to look after the organization because you're the 'Pikachu'?"

Ji-soo pushed Lee Ji-hoon with confidence. Ji-hoon is unwavering. He lied calmly without changing his expression. He manipulates bioelectricity so that other people's true reactions naturally come out of his facial expressions and body.

The body shows many characteristics when lying.

Cover your mouth, say something or go into detail. Your words and gestures don't match, your breathing time varies, or your eyes move differently than usual.

Controlling all of those things eventually happens because the signals in the brain and the signals in the body do not match. He can see through the truth more than anyone else, but he could have been as good a liar as anyone else.

"No, it's not."

"Um...."

I look at Jihoon, who denies it neatly, as if I were trying to gauge it. But I can't tell. Even if you look at her 'sense of detective'.

Lee Ji-hoon does not say anything and stares at Ji-soo. Han Ji-soo also looked at Lee Ji-hoon, but it was inconclusive.

"Whoa... All right. I'll trust you first. Let's go."

"Where?"

"The one I heard earlier."

Lee Ji-hoon asked if he was serious.

"Are you going to go?"

"You're going, you're going. You're going."

Without listening to Lee Ji-hoon, she already got up from her seat and left the office. Lee Ji-hoon sighed, cleaned up the surroundings, and left the office.

***

A club dedicated to foreigners somewhere in Incheon.

Korea is a country where the proportion of foreigners is gradually increasing. Korea, which was bent on the myth of a single nation, is now clearly aware that people with different values, both body and skin, have flowed into this society from their original values.

Then, if you ask, do Koreans hate foreigners who have flowed in like that, the answer is that.

- Koreans hate everything.

The regions are divided and hated, the men and women are hated, the ages are divided, the jobs are divided and hated, the rich and the poor are divided, the country is divided and hated....

Hate everything.

They are the ones who are busy whining whenever they open their mouths. However, it's funny that when a crisis strikes and we need to unite, we rush in again, unite, and overcome the crisis. After that, we'll disperse again and fight.

Recently, hate sentiment has grown so much that such characteristics seem to have weakened, but so far, they have.

In any case, a club where only foreigners were allowed to enter such people was fascinating and frowned upon, but it was accepted as a cross-section of a changed society.

"Is this the right place?"

"Yeah. That's right."

Arriving near the club in Jisoo's car, the two got out of the car and wandered around the club. It was to look around beforehand.

It wasn't specifically about what to do with the club, it was really just for "investigation". Of course, it was only superficial. Han Ji-soo was going to investigate the place closely and let other police know that there was a dangerous person, and Lee Ji-hoon was going to wipe it out soon.

- Club Kuala Lumpur

It was still only early evening, but there was already an atmosphere of excitement as people flocked. As it was an entertainment area, Koreans were also bustling around. So far, there were only people who could walk on their two feet.

"That's quite a lot."

The two, who were completely out of place in the entertainment district, quickly changed clothes at a nearby clothing store.

Lee Ji-hoon changed his outfit just like a guy who goes to a club often. He changed his style to a trendy style by wearing a casual outfit and touching his hair. Han Ji-soo said the same. Both of them had good looks, so even if they decorated them a little, they would attract attention at a club.

"Shall we go now?"

Jisoo clung to Jihoon's arm and led him.
