The next day, Izuku looked up at the apartment building he hadn't seen in what feels like forever. It's really only been a couple months, but he always entered and exited through his bedroom window when he went somewhere, so to look at it during the day felt like a whole new experience.
Izuku turned back to Shouta, the man having insisted on coming with Izuku and driving the teen here, and looked him in the eyes.
"Welcome to my humble abode. The room I stay in is somewhere. Not entirely sure since I haven't been through the front door in ages." Izuku says, starting to walk up the flights of stairs leading to the apartment.
He opens the door ("Yes I know how to pick locks." "Right, why am I even surprised?") and steps inside, trying to remember the way to his room. It really shouldn't be that hard, given it's a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, but it is, so Shouta patiently follows behind him.
Izuku finds his room and opens the door, somewhat surprised that Inko hadn't gone in there. All his stuff is how he left it. Well most of his stuff, his gear and inventions are still at MeiMei's house, but she said that Aki-san would be more than happy to drop it off at the Yamazawa apartment. Izuku said it was fine to leave his extra clothes there for when he inevitably (because he will, in the near future) spend nights at MeiMei's house. So he grabs the backpack Hizashi had let him borrow and moves to his desk drawer. He had left some things in the fake compartment, just in case he ever needed to come back here. He removes the fake bottom and lifts up the syringes and capsules, all filled with a quirk suppressant he had remade from scratch. It had taken longer than he had liked, but once he had the formula he coded it and kept the liquid in the fake drawer.
"What's that?" Shouta asks, looking over Izuku's shoulder.
"Just quirk suppressants I made before I started living with MeiMei and Aki-san in case Inko went too far and I needed to get out of the situation." Izuku said offhandedly, moving to carefully place the syringes and capsules in the backpack. "Never got around to using them, but I don't want to leave them here.
"Right. Well what are you going to do with them?" Shouta asks, stepping back as Izuku turns to make his way to the closet.
"I dunno. Try to make stronger ones and probably try to incorporate them into support gear. Hopefully I can make some that work on mutant quirks too." Izuku says, going through the little clothes he left in the closet.
There was one thing he forgot here. Where did he put it again? Ah! There! Izuku crawls into the small closet and pulls out the loose floorboard. He pulls out the notebooks he used for information gathering and to keep track of people who owe him favors. There was also the set aside wad of cash he saved for the same reason as the quirk suppressant capsules and syringes. He moves the syringes and capsules to lay on top of the notebook and money and backs out of the closet, not bothering to replace the floor board.
"I doubt you'd want chemicals in your apartment so I'll just drop them off with MeiMei later." Izuku said, turning to Shouta. Shouta raised an eyebrow at that.
"You just have chemicals laying around in your room?" Shouta asked, looking around the space.
"Yeah. How else do you think I made all those quirk suppressants and other things that you don't want to know about?" Izuku asked, somewhat confused at Shouta's thought process. He goes to the secret compartment behind his bed and pulls out the different chemicals, carefully placing them in a different pocket in his bag so they don't accidentally spill or mix with his quirk suppressants. Though he doubts they will, but always better to be safe than sorry. He stood up and looked at Shouta, nodding in indication that he was ready to go.
"Did Inko know you had chemicals just laying around the house?" Shouta asked, leading them out of the apartment.
"No, but it wasn't that hard to sneak them past her when I really only used my window as an entrance and exit." Izuku shrugs, carefully putting the backpack on his shoulders.
"Right. Well, you're correct in the assumption that I'd prefer not having non-household chemicals in my house." Shouta says, unlocking the car door.
"So I'll drop 'em off at MeiMei's house later." Izuku said, pulling the seat belt across his chest.
"I think it would be best to keep them in the support labs." Shouta suggested, turning the key and starting up the car. "Classes start up again tomorrow, so you'll be back in the labs."
"Or, I can just drop them off at MeiMei's house later." Izuku said, raising a finger like he came up with the best idea. "Because then the chemicals wouldn't be in your house for the rest of the day."
Shouta sighs, no heat behind it, and simply asks, "What's her address?"
Izuku grins and gives him MeiMei's address.
When they manage to drop the chemicals off at MeiMei's house, and get home, Izuku sets his bag down at the foot of his bed, planning on sorting out its contents later and walks out into the living room to face plant onto the couch. He welcomes all the cat cuddles he receives when he does fall onto the couch. He hears Shouta chuckle behind him from the kitchen table.
"How would you feel about me and Hizashi adopting you?" Shouta says after a few minutes of quiet.
"I thought you already did." Izuku jokes, not really knowing how else to react other than shock. When Shouta stays quiet, Izuku pushes himself to sit on the couch and stares at Shouta.
That's what Hizashi comes home to, half an hour later. His husband and Izuku are just silently staring at each other. It's as if both of their minds blue screened and he can see the gears turning in their heads. However slow it may be. Sho's the first to break the silent staring contest after however long with a "What?" A very elegant, composed, not at all undignified squawk of the one word. That has Hizashi turning a questioning look to his husband and the raven haired man clears his throat.
"I just brought up the topic of adoption." Shouta says, rubbing his temples. It was a nervous habit he had picked up in highschool that Hizashi understands.
"And what did the little listener say?" Hizashi asks, looking at Izuku, hope most definitely shining in his eyes.
"I uh, just joked that I thought you guys already had 'cause it's like a defense mechanism and I really can't control it sometimes and I'm sorry." Izuku rushes out, twisting his hands together.
"Nothing to be sorry for Little Listener! You were just dealing with a situation in a way you know how!" Hizashi reassures.
"Um, yeah though, I'd really like it if you guys adopted me." Izuku says, his eyes shining with a sort of hope and some trepidation, the latter feeling most likely due to his past.
"Of course Little Listener! We wouldn't have offered it if we didn't want to!" Hizashi says, letting his husband cool down from the reverse surprise of Izuku's response.
"Wait, then what's his last name going to be?" Shouta asks, recovering from his shock.
"Well we could go with Aizawa because less people know you." Hizashi offers. Shouta and Hizashi continue to discuss what to do about Izuku's last name, seeing as how the little listener obviously doesn't like his given last name.
"What about Yamazawa?" Izuku asks after a couple minutes of just watching the two men from the couch.
"Yamazawa?" Both Hizashi and Shouta try the name. The blonde smiles brightly while the other smirks into his capture weapon.
"Yamazawa Izuku!" Hizashi exclaims and Izuku visibly brightens.
"We'll get the paperwork sent to Nedzu so he can expedite the process. You should go get cleaned up and we'll have dinner afterwards." Shouta says, nodding to the hallway. The two men watch Izuku skip down the hallway.
"I'll work on the paperwork, you start dinner?" Hizashi nods and moves behind the island counter to start up dinner. He sees Shouta get up from the table to presumably get the paperwork from their office.
Izuku falls asleep smushed between his soon to be two new parents on the couch while watching Disney movies, making a mental note to tell MeiMei the news at school tomorrow.
