Chereads / Savior in the DC Universe / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

In the dark airplane cabin.

John felt utterly screwed, his heart pounding like a drum! With the insight of a vampire progenitor, he estimated that it wouldn't take long for the progenitor to notice his abnormality.

But at this moment, he had no way out. Should he fight back? With his body weighing less than 150 pounds, he wouldn't even be a snack for the progenitor!

"Damn it, will I become the first traverser to be killed by my own golden finger?"

John slumped in his seat, feeling utterly despondent. The footsteps behind him finally reached him, but surprisingly, they continued walking forward without stopping.

"Hmm?"

John opened his eyes in surprise to see a flight attendant in uniform and high heels bending over to check on a passenger on the left side ahead.

False alarm, damn! Almost scared myself to death!

However, the next scene made him tense up again. A strange noise came from the back of the plane. He turned his head to see a flight attendant staring in shock at the floor hatch of the cargo hold.

The flight attendant in the aisle seemed to realize something and quickly ran towards the cargo hold.

This familiar scene made John's heart pound faster, his mind racing. The next moment, he leaned back and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"You pigs, we're going to crash!"

The shout echoed loudly in the quiet airplane, startling the man beside him who looked around in confusion.

More and more people woke up from their sleep, and upon noticing the situation, they started cursing.

"Who is it?"

"A prank?"

The angry man beside him glared at John, but seeing John's wide-open eyes and fierce expression, his anger vanished instantly. He shrank back without saying a word, and the next moment, a pair of hands grabbed his chest.

"Wait, brother!"

"Sir, everything is fine. Please return to your seat!" The flight attendant tried to calm the frightened passengers while looking at the approaching John with a wary expression.

The shout had instantly attracted her attention. Seeing the man who caused the commotion walking towards her, she instinctively reached for the stun baton hidden under her uniform.

But John didn't even glance at the flight attendant who was supposed to be the first to die in the original plot. His eyes were fixed on the cargo hold. The flight attendant there was bending down, listening closely to the floor.

"You over there, stop right now, or I'll detonate the bomb!"

John raised the pen he had taken from a nearby passenger and shouted.

This scene frightened the passengers who were about to stop him, and even the flight attendant who wanted to subdue him froze in place.

Seeing the flight attendant stand aside and the cargo hold hatch remaining undisturbed, John suppressed his wildly beating heart, his face stern as he commanded, "All of you, get into the cargo hold, now!"

His voice echoed through the plane, causing everyone to look at him in fear and anger.

"I'll count to three! If anyone is too slow, I'll detonate the bomb and we'll all die together in the sky!"

"Brother, let's talk this through!"

A burly white man stood up in fear, urging everyone to follow John's orders.

Like flipping a switch, everyone hurriedly stood up and, under John's gaze, ran to the cargo hold one by one.

"Stand there and don't move! If anyone comes out, I'll detonate the bomb. As long as you follow my instructions, I promise the plane will land safely!"

Bang!

A dull sound came from the floor of the storage area, and the passengers standing there looked at the floor in shock.

John's heart skipped a beat.

"That's my friend. If he gets out, we'll all die. I'm doing this to protect myself because that guy has a gun!

I don't want to die. If you all want to live, keep that hatch sealed!"

"A gun? What the hell?"

"Fuck, Berlin Airport's security is trash!"

"Seal it, quick! Don't let that guy out!"

The man who first obeyed John lay down, pressing firmly on the hatch, and others quickly piled on top. Soon, the hatch was completely covered.

Bang, bang!

Two violent hits shook the people pressing on the hatch. Everyone was horrified.

"God, how is that guy so strong?"

"Fuck, everyone, come on! Don't let him out!"

"Hold on, Ms. Frie, report to the authorities!"

The black flight attendant noticed John's indifferent expression and seemed to believe him. She quickly started calling for help.

Bang!

A loud bang shook everyone piled on the storage hatch. Each person's face showed fear, and the man at the bottom was relieved that the hatch was made of special alloy, extremely tough!

Seeing that the progenitor couldn't get out for now, John sighed heavily, slumping into his seat. He looked at his unconscious seatmate and patted his face.

"Thanks, brother!"

It was a subconscious act. Seeing that he couldn't stop the flight attendant from opening the cargo hold, John instinctively made up a lie.

First, he used the bomb threat to quickly gather the passengers above the cargo hold. Then, taking advantage of the progenitor's attempt to break out, he fabricated a story about an armed terrorist.

Even if his bomb lie was exposed, he believed those people would still help block the hatch.

After all, the commotion from the cargo hold validated his story!

Hearing the flight attendant successfully contact the aviation center, John's heart finally settled.

The rest of the flight passed with everyone on edge.

As the plane landed smoothly at the tower, a large group of police officers, armed with guns and riot shields, surrounded the airport.

Looking out the plane window, John finally relaxed completely.

Seeing the passengers still blocking the cargo hold, he couldn't help but give them a thumbs-up in his mind!

Soon, as the police boarded, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

John was taken away by four officers.

In the tightly guarded interrogation room.

"John, a British national, what's your purpose in coming to New York, and why did you falsely report a bomb on the plane?"

"Officer, I'm innocent. I just heard a loud noise from the plane's storage area, as if something was in there. I happened to watch a plane crash movie before flying to New York, so I was worried. I had no choice but to take this action!

There was something hidden in that storage area. Everyone on the plane can testify for me!"

...

"Officer, did you check the plane's storage area?"

"Nothing was found! Given your actions, you severely violated international aviation regulations..."

John didn't listen to the rest. After being detained for three days, he was released.

"Plot changed, earned 30 plot points!"

"Changing the plot earns plot points, which can be used to exchange for items and enhance the host's abilities!

Currently available item: Anti-Parasite Body."

Anti-Parasite Body! John's eyes widened. If there was one thing that scared him the most in this movie, it wasn't the progenitor's overwhelming strength and speed but the widespread parasite infection!

A tiny parasite could burrow into your skin and rapidly multiply until it filled your entire body.

Just thinking about parasites crawling under his skin made John shiver. With a thought, the description of the Anti-Parasite Body appeared in his mind.

Anti-Parasite Body: Effective only against the vampire parasites, with strong anti-parasite effects. This ability is simple in structure, choose wisely.

Cost: 30 points. Damn, just enough to empty my pockets? John didn't hesitate to exchange for the ability. The next moment, a faint fragrance enveloped him.

Wait, mosquito repellent?

The familiar smell in his nose made John's face twitch. He felt like a herd of alpacas was trampling his heart!

Fine, as long as it works, John consoled himself.

Looking at the bustling streets around him, he quickly thought about his next move.

The reason he didn't tell the police about the vampire progenitor in the cargo hold was that he knew as an Asian man, his words would carry little weight. Even in the original story, the protagonist, a CDC medical personnel, couldn't convince the police and was detained!

So, from the start, John didn't expect the police to help him end the progenitor! Now that the plot had changed, the CDC protagonist probably hadn't encountered the mutated creature yet.

Wait!

John suddenly remembered that in the original story, the ancient coffin containing the progenitor would be handled by the logistics staff, likely leading to casualties. The progenitor, deprived of the plane's passengers' blood, would be extremely hungry by now.

John's mind raced, recalling the image of the early protagonist group member, Gus, driving a truck. Gus would successfully transport the progenitor's coffin to Manhattan, leading to the city's downfall!

Recalling Gus's truck scene, John realized that since the coffin was transported from the plane's cargo hold, it couldn't be far from the airport.

John quickly asked nearby pedestrians for directions and took a taxi to his destination.
