"Shen Tong, who are you? You are invincible! What's a little interview? Come on!" Early in the morning, Shen Tong stood in front of the mirror, brushing her teeth whilst cheering herself on.
"Tong Tong, you have to dress up a bit today!" Fang Xiaoxi said as she walked up behind Shen Tong, seeing her with messy hair and sleepy eyes while brushing her teeth. She immediately started nagging, "You have an interview today! How can you not make an effort to look good?"
Shen Tong displayed an attitude completely opposite to Fang Xiaoxi's, saying casually, "I'm going for an assistant interview, not a celebrity audition. Why should I dress up so much?"
Fang Xiaoxi looked at Shen Tong with a mix of frustration and disappointment: "Tong Tong, do you know how realistic society is now? In any profession, people with good looks and figures are given priority. Moreover, you're interviewing at Fengxing Entertainment! The general managers and directors there are used to seeing beauties and hot girls. Showing up looking like a village girl would be a slap in their face!"
"Hey! I may not be a stunning beauty, but at least I'm presentable, right? Village girl... how do I look like a village girl?" Shen Tong protested, glancing at the mirror, "Look closely, I'm actually quite pretty!"
Before Shen Tong could finish her sentence, Fang Xiaoxi dragged her from the sink to the living room sofa: "No more talking! I need to give you a makeover!"
"Wow! Why did you bring so many cosmetics here? And this outfit and high heels..." Shen Tong exclaimed, surprised at the things Fang Xiaoxi brought.
"I just knew you wouldn't bother to dress up. So I brought these to help you have a better chance at the interview!" Fang Xiaoxi said while applying makeup to Shen Tong. "Look at you, a twenty-year-old face with a thirty-year-old mindset and a forty-year-old's fashion sense! You're always focused on making money and never care about grooming or taking care of yourself."
Shen Tong scoffed: "What's the point of looking pretty? Can beauty be eaten? I don't want to be a vase!"
"Even if you don't want to be a vase, at least don't make yourself look like a flower pot!" Fang Xiaoxi said, shaking her head in despair, "You're hopeless!"
Shen Tong pointed to the ten-centimeter high heels Fang Xiaoxi brought and resisted, "I'm not wearing those. They're too high. I can only accept heels under five centimeters!"
Fang Xiaoxi commanded, "You have to wear them! I begged the makeup artist to lend me these! Fortunately, I've learned a few things during my time at Fengxing. If you pass the interview, you must thank your strategist here first!"
Shen Tong nodded, "Alright, seeing how much effort you've put in, I'll listen to you!"
"That's the spirit!" Fang Xiaoxi said, satisfied. Then she added apologetically, "If it weren't for wanting to work at the same company, you wouldn't have to go through this. With your education, you could find a better job. Fengxing Entertainment places a lot of emphasis on appearance."
Shen Tong quickly reassured Fang Xiaoxi: "Why say that? We agreed on this long ago. Besides, I don't have much work experience. Fengxing Entertainment is a big company with great potential. Don't worry, I'm smart, capable, and naturally beautiful. I'll definitely pass the interview! Then we can work together in the same company!"
"Yes! You'll definitely succeed!" Fang Xiaoxi cheered for Shen Tong.
An hour later, Fang Xiaoxi finally finished Shen Tong's makeup: "Wow! You could be a star now! So beautiful!" Fang Xiaoxi marveled at Shen Tong's transformation.
Shen Tong laughed and said, "Don't use this method to praise your own makeup skills!"
"No time for that! Go change into the clothes and shoes; we're running late!" Fang Xiaoxi urged, pushing Shen Tong towards the room.
"I feel so awkward!" Shen Tong said as she came out of the room.
Shen Tong was dressed in a well-tailored suit, simple yet elegant, obviously designer-made. She frowned slightly, staring at the ten-centimeter heels and complained: "These heels are so high, how long will it take me to get used to them?"
Fang Xiaoxi was stunned. She knew Shen Tong was beautiful but didn't expect her to outshine even celebrities once made up. Shen Tong looked a thousand times better than Chen Xiaoyong.
"What are you daydreaming about? We're going to be late!" Shen Tong checked the time and hurriedly dragged Fang Xiaoxi out the door, "Ouch! My foot!" Shen Tong bent down to rub her ankle.
Fang Xiaoxi looked at the approaching taxi and then at the injured Shen Tong, feeling conflicted: "What should we do? Tong Tong, can you walk?"
Shen Tong nodded, taking off the high heels: "Stop that taxi!" She said, pulling Fang Xiaoxi along as they ran.
"Tong Tong, you're so strong!" Fang Xiaoxi said, watching Shen Tong sit barefoot in the taxi.
Shen Tong shook her head and said proudly, "This is nothing! Last time, a pickpocket stole my wallet on the bus. I jumped off, grabbed it back, kicked him and got back on the bus all within fifty-eight seconds. A boy on the bus called me a superhero!"
Fang Xiaoxi was stunned. Shen Tong was indeed extraordinary!
"We're here! We're here!" Fang Xiaoxi pointed to Fengxing Entertainment's gate excitedly. After working here for so long, she had never felt her company was so grand till now.
She suddenly thought maybe bringing Shen Tong here was a good idea.
"Fengxing Entertainment!" Shen Tong looked at the grand entrance, the large characters above and the imposing front door, feeling even more determined to survive in this company.
Who knew how many struggles lay behind this prosperity?
After the taxi stopped, Shen Tong started putting on her shoes. Her ankle still hurt a bit, and the thought of twisting her ankle earlier scared her. Should she wear them or not?
"Hurry, Tong Tong!" Fang Xiaoxi urged, seeing Shen Tong hesitate.
Never mind, just wear them! Shen Tong put on the ten-centimeter heels and got out. But once out, she didn't dare move.
Fang Xiaoxi looked at her standing still: "Tong Tong, why aren't you walking?"
Shen Tong looked at the heels: "It's your fault! These heels are too high; I can't walk! My ankle still hurts!"
"Weren't you so bold earlier talking about how you got your wallet back earlier!" Fang Xiaoxi said, dragging Shen Tong towards the company.
"Don't drag me! Don't drag me! I'll walk myself!" Shen Tong said, embarrassed by the people around them, pulling her hand away from Fang Xiaoxi.
