The world of ordinary was abandoned, all life ran once threat was approaching. To where? The sub-dimension of the first ever mage. This mage was the one to discover and learn to control "mana" or as it's known in this world Flow.
"Learn to see the world like noone else does." Said the teacher to the aspiring mage desciples. "These are the most famous words of the mighty Grand Mage" He continued proudly, while the children listened with lottle to no interest, since everyone heard these words almost every single day.
It is the first spell anyone learned after all. It was a simple observation skill that allowed the user to sense objects and shapes with mana. For this to work you had to sense the mana around and see what does it collide with.
The beginners only see up to around 2 meters, while masters could see clearly up to a kilometer. At first one will not be able to see with great detail, the detail one perceives also might reduce with the size of the spell.
One must learn to know their limits, humanity seemed to hit it's limit once an unkniwn race dubbed "demons" appeared on earth and slowly but surely started to push humanity off of planet earth. The population started decreasing and with a new enemy of humanity appearing crime and violence also minimised.
It will never be 0% since humans can never have pure souls. That is also why no human could learn magic. Flow would reject any humans with impurities, these were hate and misbeliefs.
There was only one human who was accepted by flow, he did not posess such feelings like hate, of course he did not like everyone, but he learned to put up with the imperfections of the human race.
He himself was not perfect but he learned to become as close to it as possible. That is also what they teach children in schools now. Along with the basic subjects they also have Magic Theory class and Practical Magic class
In the home of the Skytorne family:
"Sonny, have you taken out the trash yet?" Yelled Lucas's cheery mother. "Not yet." He replied with a groan still in his bed. "How many times have I told you to take it out?" She came into the room, but now she was pissed. Although she was still smiling the veins on her forehead were about to burst.
"YES MA'AM!" Lucas hopped out of bed grabbing onto the trashbag with a telekinesis spell and running to take it out as fast as possible. "That's what I'm talking about. That wasn't all that bad now, was it?" Lucas's mom said, with a now calmer tone.
"Don't forget to apply into a magic academy this weekend, you can't just lay around and do nothing." She spoke again with more of a commamding tone. "Yeah sure, you act like I need it, you know I can't even use elemental magic" It's true, he did not posess an affinity towards any element, and his mother knew it as well.
"Without elemental magic I won't be accepted into any academies" Lucas said with a disappointed tone. "Also I don't want to defame the family name." Lucas' father Fafnir Skytorne was one of the greates wind attribute mages of his age, expelling in almost every known wind spell, and creating his own as well.
Fafnir came from a nordic family, he was named that because of his black hair as a child resembling that of the dragon Fafnir's scales. His son got mostly the same traits as his father, even the blue eyes, but he could not control wind, or any other element as such.
He instead decided to focus on non-elemental magic like telekinesis, observation, levitation, barrier creation and physical enhancement magic. Lucas also was exceptional at alchemy. He has been experimenting mostly at night, but he tried to combine alchemy with magic.
Lucas has already mastered the basic observation skill, as he posesses great Flow within him allowing him to sense it at the early age of 5. Noone believed him since it was not natural for a child so young to posess enough Flow to be sensed. The avarage age for the awakening of ones Flow was age 10. This was, if the child tought to never hate and recieved good education.
Lucas was also an interesting case, since he has always been more mature than his lookst would tell you. He even learned how to read by himself.
He has been interested in alchemy books ever since he could read. Which kid would not want to mix metal and water to make an explosion? Or just the basic principal mix two things and get a third totally different material.
In the ancient times there was chemistry, but with the appearance of magic it got pushed out. Humans could use elemental magic instead of chemical reactions all this without depleting resources. With time chemistry just transformed into alchemy. "The art of mixing stuff". It was called that once it completely became useless with the appearence of healing attribute mages.
Lucas did not think in such a way. He realised he could replicate elemental magic with alchemy and tinkering. And so he did. He always kept around a bag full of alchemy books and minerals.
Once he was out in the woods practicing. He used observation magic in a close range so he had much detail. He practiced so much every day that he was able to sense each and every molecule within a meter. This combined with telekinesis allows him to control the molecules to his will.
The easiest magic he could imitate was water, since air contained oxygen and small amounts of hydrogen. He focused on only theese two molecules in the air and than started to combine them, he made a sphere of water around 10 centimeters in diameter this was his personal best so far.
Controlling the already formed water was easy for a telekinesis master, but his next step was to form ice from the water. He started slowing down and arrangeing the water molecules in an orderl, fashion. It formed a solid structure. It was ice, but he could not maintain this form without utter focus. The hardest part was thinking of a way to make the molecules stop permanently. He needed to achieve absolute zero, which seems to be an impossible goal.
He let go of the sphere and it slowly melted away, forever lasting ice magic imitation looked to be impossible. He needed more insight into the molecular structure of Flow ice was it possible to replicate it or not? This question had to wait until he had access to a mage's ice.
Now he extracted the ice melted into the ground back into a sphere. He now wanted to create vapor. He read that gas molecules just fly everywhere at high speeds he needed to contain this though. He tried accelerating them in place. They started vibrating what he didn't expect that this caused immense heat and the water started boiling within itself. Lucas created a thin water shell and let the inside fill up with vapor creating hight pressure within it. He created a steam bomb, if he lost focus all of the super hot gas would release burning him.
Knowing the risks he still decided to continue. He supercharged the gas and slowed down the molecules in the outer shell. He succeded, he created an immensely dangerous grenade of ultra high temperature gas. Once released it would instantly shatter the ice orb into a million pieces along with releasing gas that's able to melt off the skin of humans.
He was willing to risk it all, just for an experiment. He kept focus holding it all together with his telekinesis. Since he could not use his telekinesis in a big radius he needed speed. He spinned the orb around him a few times as fast as he could then threw it as far as possible.
The strenght of the ice lasted for about 20 meters. The explosion made a horridly loud sound together with roasting every tree in a 5 meter radius. If it was not water vapor it would've started a huge forest fire. The experiment was successful. This was his first attempt in which he actually went through with it and didn't chicken out before throwing it.
This was a weapon of great power. This was his most powerful spell so far. If he could recreate this effect but smaller it could make for a really strong spell. So he tried makeing a smaller sphere, he reshaped it. It was the size and shape of a bullet, he created the outer ice shell and the hight pressure inside. Since the size was not nearly as big as last time he could also increase it's velocity he threw it as fast as an actual bullet, he threw it straight at a tree. The bullet shot forth and exploded in the middle of the tree makeing a huge gaping hole in the middle of the tree, leaving the inside of the hole charred from the immense heat.
"Success" Shouted Lucas loudly when he suddenly collapsed of exhaustion.
