Chapter 17 - First Soul

Jake, meanwhile, was furious. He swung his green Neba sword with renewed vigor. Each strike was precise, deadly, cutting through the wolves. Despite his skill and power, the wolves kept coming, drawn to the strength of his Neba.

"Damn it all... why aren't they attacking you?" Jake shouted, his frustration boiling over. He fought desperately, his anger fueling his attacks, but the wolves' relentless hunger for Neba made them a formidable foe.

Jake was exhausted. He had almost completely depleted his Zeten, and his Neba was running dangerously low. These wolves were a nightmare; every part of their bodies could absorb Neba and Zeten. Even touching them was perilous.

After Jake finally killed the last wolf, he had only a few precious seconds to catch his breath before a bloodied katana slashed toward him. It was Dune. He had finally decided to attack.

Jake could barely move. He was utterly spent. Dune attacked, and Jake, with his remaining strength, caught the katana with his bare hands. He pushed Dune back and dashed towards him. Even in his exhausted state, Jake's strikes were relentless, and Dune struggled to block them. Wounds started to appear all around Dune's body. Jake's attacks were overwhelming.

"Why aren't you using your Zeten?" Jake shouted. Instead of giving him the real answer, Dune taunted Jake. "Why would I need to use my Neba or Zeten against you? You're a pathetic loser. I can beat you even without using my powers." Did i lie well? .. Dune thought to himself.

Fury surged through Jake. He dashed forward with all the speed he could muster, wielding his green Neba sword. Dune, anticipating this, dodged Jake's strike, but the blade still grazed his shoulder. When Dune tried to counterattack, Jake was ready. He lunged at Dune, and they both tumbled to the ground.

Jake ended up on top, his sword vanishing from his right hand and reappearing in his left, ready to stab Dune in the heart. But then, suddenly, the green sword disappeared. He had run out of both Zeten and Neba.

Jake was bewildered. How had this happened? Then Dune's mocking laughter cut through the confusion.

"The blood of the wolves is still on your hands," Dune said. Jake looked at his bloodied hands and remembered, he had caught Dune's sword with them.

"Arrogance is the reason why you die now, Jake," Dune sneered. He grabbed Jake's collar and then kicked his head, smashing his nose and sending him sprawling. But Dune wasn't done. He picked up his katana and slashed at Jake, cutting his hand off. Jake screamed but he also didn't give up.

He lunged forward, grabbing Dune by the neck and choking him to the ground. Dune stabbed Jake with the katana again, but Jake's strength remained superior. Dune was passing out, he tried to move the katana deeper into Jake's stomach. But Jake didn't react, all he wanted was to kill Dune.

Finally, Dune gave up protecting his neck and with both hands he put all his strength into pulling the katana out of Jake's stomach. He managed to free it and swung to cut Jake's hand, but Jake let go of his neck just in time. Dune gasped for breath.

Jake stood up and run as fast as he could, but Dune wouldn't let him go; there wouldn't be a better chance for him. He stood up quickly and chased Jake through the trees. I can't let him escape…

Jake thought he had escaped, but suddenly, a katana stabbed into his stomach from behind. Dune had thrown it with deadly precision. Jake fell to the ground and began to crawl, but Dune was relentless.

He walked slowly, his face bloodied, his body exhausted, but his resolve unbroken. He reached Jake, pulled the katana from his body, and delivered the final slash, severing Jake's head.

Dune fell to the ground, utterly exhausted. Every muscle in his body screamed with fatigue, and he felt as if he were on the brink of death. But he knew Nely was still out there, battling a much stronger opponent. He couldn't rest yet.

Drawing a deep breath, Dune forced himself to stand. He glanced around, looking in one direction and then another, trying to find something. After a few seconds of catching his breath and summoning the last remnants of his strength, he dashed off to find Nely and lend his aid.

On the other side of the battlefield, Nely was locked in a fierce fight with Nate. Both were bleeding, with cuts covering their bodies. Nely was at her limit, while Nate kept attacking with his powerful orange Zeten. Nely's green Neba was almost gone, and she was nearly out of Zeten.

After a long and brutal clash, Nely decided to use her strongest attack. Green fire surrounded her, and the ground beneath her shook.

"I'm going to survive," remembering Dune and his words, which fueled her determination.

" I will fight with everything I have and get my revenge."

Sensing her strong aura, Nate prepared his most powerful attack too. Green armor formed around him, and a giant axe made of orange Zeten appeared in his hand. Trees around them began to burn.

They locked eyes and charged at each other, their clash destroying trees and the ground. Nate's armor shattered in several places, and Nely launched a giant fireball, a mix of green Neba and orange Zeten. It caught Nate off guard, throwing him far away and causing a massive explosion that destroyed more of the area.

Exhausted, Nely was out of Zeten. She lost her balance and almost fell, but someone caught her. It was Dune. He lifted her into his arms and started running.

Tired and relieved, Nely whispered, "Du… Shorty ..."

"Don't talk. We gotta run. You're out of Neba and Zeten, right?"

"Almost," Nely weakly replied.

Good," Dune said, carrying her. Nely's head rested on his shoulder as they ran, red wolves chasing them from behind. Nely's eyes widened with shock and fear, but Dune remained calm.

As Dune ran from the wolves while carrying Nely, he observed her condition. She was close to losing consciousness, but he had no other choice. "Nely, I need you to use your last bit of Neba when we reach the place where the explosion happened. Just trust me." Nely nodded.

When they reached the explosion site, they saw Nate, injured and without his armor, but still holding the orange axe made from Zeten. Dune smirked and dashed toward him.

"Nely, now," he commanded.

Nely threw the last bit of her Neba, forming a green fireball nowhere near as strong as her previous one but still dangerous. Nate, expecting an attack, transformed his axe into a giant shield and protected himself. Then he turned his shield back to an axe, ready to defend against another attack. But no one appeared.

Instead, wolves jumped from different directions and attacked Nate. One even managed to bite his hand.

While Nate desperately fought the wolves, Dune ran away as fast as he could, trying to escape chaos and survive, carrying Nely away.

Ahead of them, another army of red wolves charged towards them "left me here…I don't have any more Neba left."

"Be quiet," Dune answered, his eyes focused on the approaching threat.

The wolves drew closer, their growls growing louder. "Here we go." He sprinted forward, pulling Nely with him.

Nely was stunned by what she saw. Every single wolf ignored them, running straight towards Nate instead. Dune and Nely moved through the swarm of wolves, Dune chuckled loudly, enjoying the expected turn of events.
