Chapter 41 - Shadow Sword Art

He spent most of the night after that trying to get some people, but every single time he closed his eyes, the battle he had just been in flashed before his eyes. And it was not like he was scared of it, it was that he had begun to realise that he could have done so much better in leading them all and reducing the amount of people who had been killed or hurt by a large amount.

Unable to sleep, he slowly got up and left the room, with his sword. The entire time ensuring he was silent enough so that he did not wake up Jason, who he still did not know what to do with at all. The man was stubborn and clearly wanted to make up for what he had done, but Dharen did not know how to let him throw everything that he had away for himself.

In Dharen's mind, Jason should stay here and prepare himself for the world. Dharen would have to leave, no matter how much he did not want to, leaving would now be the safest and also the best thing.

In the end, he found himself in the training grounds. It was different at night, silent and dark. Peaceful to him in many ways. Holding the sword, he decided to just practise some basic sword moves.

As he practised, his movements began to get more complex without him realising. He had somehow once more entered into a trance, but this was not a battle trance instead it was something to do with how his bloodline had been awakened.

The bloodlines and lineages of the individual clans for the Dragon-Kin had many secrets. It was not simply that his body would be strengthened. He would be able to inherit memories that had been stored deep within his own blood.

In this case, he was in the middle of learning the first part of the Shadow Clans own sword art. Named rather unimaginable as the Shadow Sword Art. Each of its movements were different from anything he had ever performed before. And if it was not for his own body, that had been awakened he would never be able to perform this sword at all.

Something else also became increasingly obvious as Dharen repeated the moves over and over. This as he slowly came out of the trance, the movements being clear in his mind. The new point was that this sword art seemingly had been made to fight something that was far bigger than any human.

Due to this, as he performed and became more fluid in his movements he began to slowly adjust the sword art so that he could use it to fight someone who was the average size of a human.

In truth, he was also enjoying himself now. Everything was seeming far more normal and safe in his life right now at the moment.

He wished that it would last forever, but of course he knew that this would never be the case, he had heard and still remembered the words of Athena after all. She had told him rather clearly that his future would be bleak or well in his mind more painful.

Noticing a light in the distance, he watched as the sun began to rise and wash away the darkness with its radiance. Sighing to himself, he realised he had been here far too long and slowly he went back to his room where he had washed himself again, leaving the room he saw Jason was now to awake as well.

Jason's eyes suddenly widened however.

"Dharen what is the mark on your back?!"

His sudden yell startled Dharen a little who turned to look at Jason with some confusion.

"What mark? What do you mean?"

Jason, who had now stood up, slowly walked across the room, while grabbing a mirror. "There is a mark on your right shoulder."

Using the mirror, Dharen was able to see what he meant. There was a mark on his shoulder. The mark however, faintly resembled a shape. A shape that he recognised!

And it was not only him that recognised the shape, but Jason as well.

Jason then muttered, "This looks alot like a Dragon sigil…"

Dharen was able to tell far more than that, as he knew what sigil it was as well. That being the one from his own bloodline. The sigil of the shadow clan.

"Wait, I know what this is!" Jason had suddenly said loudly.

"If I am right it should be called a Dragon Mark, it is something all the Dragon-Kin should possess once they have undergone some kind of ritual and it is meant to represent their power or something like that." Jason's words had surprised Dharen, who did not know what this was at all.

Jason's eyes then focused back onto Dharen's face. "How is this even possible though?"

Dharen, just turned and looked at his friend. "I don't know, it is all a result of the sword that I found."

Jason then looked at the sword, his eyes widening a little more. "That's the Black Blade isn't it?" He had said in a shaky voice.

Dharen just nodded his head.

Jason, in shock stumbled backwards, tripping and falling back onto his own bed with a soft bang.

"Just what are you?" Jason had managed to say. And who could really blame him?

Dharen had found a weapon that had been lost for centuries and more than that he had done something that had not been seen that the Imperium had fallen, not to mention his now obvious lineage.

Dharen was someone in many senses who should not exist, but in his heart Jason was not scared, in fact he was excited to see everything that Dharen would be able to accomplish.

There had not been a Dragon-Kin of his talents in well forever, not too much is talent as well. Internally Jason had begun to compare him to people such as the Crusader. The only thing he lacked was his bloodline purity. But Jason smiled softly. There was a certain treasure for that…
