The morning was cold in Gastros, but the training area on the outskirts of the city was bustling with activity. Kiros stood, observing the men he had recruited for his anti-rat combat force. With the resources he had accumulated, he managed to acquire high-quality runic muskets, and now it was time to train his men to use them.
Kiros walked among the rows of his recruits, all lined up and ready to begin. Beside him, Lyra watched with keen eyes, ready to help whenever necessary. She was an imposing presence; even though she wasn't evolved, her knowledge of martial arts and martial cultivation made her respected among the men.
"Today, we begin training with the runic muskets," Kiros announced loudly. "These weapons are powerful and can turn the tide against our enemies, but they need to be handled with care and precision."
He raised one of the runic muskets for all to see. The metal gleamed with complex runes etched along the barrel, symbols that increased the power and accuracy of the weapon. "These muskets are not like conventional weapons. The runes enhance the range and force of the shot, but they require concentration and discipline to use correctly."
Kiros proceeded to explain the basic parts of the musket, showing how to load the runic ammunition and how to align the sights. Then, he demonstrated the correct shooting posture, firming his feet and keeping the musket steady against his shoulder.
"Now, you," he ordered, watching as the recruits mimicked his movements. Some were clumsy, while others showed a natural aptitude. "Remember, accuracy is more important than speed. Focus on your breathing, align the sights, and fire only when you're ready."
Over the next few hours, Kiros and Lyra worked tirelessly with the recruits, correcting postures, adjusting aim, and providing tips on how to control their breathing to increase accuracy. Gradually, the men began to improve, their shots becoming more precise and confident.
"Excellent work," Kiros praised as the sun began to set on the horizon. "You're progressing well, but we still have much to do. Tomorrow, we will start training in combat formations, simulating real battle scenarios against the rat-men."
Lyra approached, placing a hand on Kiros' shoulder. "You're leading well," she said, with an approving smile. "They're beginning to believe we can make a difference."
Kiros nodded, feeling a wave of determination. "We will turn this force into an impenetrable wall. Gastros will no longer be tormented by these parasites."
As the men dispersed to rest, Kiros and Lyra stayed, planning the next steps. Each day of training brought new challenges but also new opportunities. And with each progress, the vision of a city free from the rat-men became more real.
Night fell over Gastros, but the flame of hope and determination burned brighter than ever among Kiros' guardians.
