Chapter 22 - Ch22- Endless Devotion

Micha's heart fluttered as she stood in front of So Hyung, feeling the warmth of his presence, the way he could make her feel safe even when everything else felt uncertain. She reached up and gently touched his face, her fingers tracing the outline of his jaw.

"Thank you, So Hyung. You mean everything to me," Micha said softly, her voice barely above a whisper but thick with emotion.

So Hyung smiled down at her, his eyes full of affection. He took her hand and held it in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I should be the one thanking you, Micha. You've brought so much light into my life, and I can't imagine it without you."

Micha looked up at him with tears forming in her eyes. "But you're the one who's always there for me. You came here today, even when I know you must have been tired from work. Didn't you need to go to the office today?"

He shook his head slightly. "Nope. I got some rest, too. I told them I wouldn't be in today because I wanted to be here with you. I finished my work as quickly as I could and rushed over. I was worried about you, Micha. I couldn't bear the thought of you being alone after everything that's been happening."

Micha felt her heart swell at his words. The sincerity in his voice, the way he had always put her first—it made her realize just how deeply he cared for her. She wrapped her arms around him, resting her head against his chest.

"Thank you, So Hyung. You care about me so much, and I don't know what I'd do without you. You're a part of me, a part of my life that I can't imagine being without. I love you so much."

So Hyung stroked her hair, his voice soft and comforting. "You don't have to thank me, Micha. I love you, and I'll always take care of you. That's what love is, isn't it? Being there for each other, even when things are hard."

Micha lifted her head and looked into his eyes. "I prayed to God that even in the next generation, you would still be a part of my life. I don't want this love to end, not in this life or any life that comes after."

So Hyung smiled, his heart warming at her words. "Micha, I promise you that I'll always be with you, in this life and beyond. I believe in us, and nothing—not time, not distance, not anything—can change the way I feel about you."

Micha's eyes shimmered with tears, but this time they were tears of happiness. She had never felt so loved, so understood. And as she held him close, she knew she would do anything to keep this love alive.

"Speaking of time," So Hyung said after a moment, his tone becoming a bit more serious, "Micha, there's something I need to tell you. Tomorrow, I have to go to work. There's a lot I need to handle, and I might not be able to come see you. But… I was thinking, if you're okay with it, would you want to come with me? You could stay at my place for a while, and we could spend time together when I'm not working."

Micha blinked in surprise. She hadn't expected that, but the thought of spending more time with him made her heart skip a beat. "You mean… stay with you at your place?"

"Yeah," So Hyung replied, a gentle smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "I know you've been feeling a little down lately, and I thought maybe being together for a while would help. I can't stand the thought of you feeling lonely."

Micha bit her lip, thinking it over. She had work, of course, but the idea of being with So Hyung, of escaping her worries for a little while, sounded too good to pass up. "Let me call my boss and see if I can take some time off," she said, pulling her phone out of her pocket.

As she dialed her boss's number, she felt a flutter of nervousness. She wasn't sure if he would grant her leave, especially on such short notice. The phone rang a few times before her boss picked up.

"Micha?" his voice came through the line, sounding surprised. "Is everything okay?"

"Yes, I just… I haven't been feeling well lately, and I was hoping to take a week off, if that's alright. I know it's short notice, but I could really use the time to recover."

There was a brief pause on the other end, and Micha held her breath, waiting for his response. Finally, her boss sighed.

"Alright, Micha. You've been working hard, and if you need the time off, you've earned it. Take the week to rest and come back when you're ready."

Relief washed over Micha, and she thanked her boss before hanging up the phone. She turned to So Hyung, a smile spreading across her face. "He said I can take the week off."

So Hyung's eyes lit up with excitement. "That's great! We can leave the day after tomorrow, then."

Micha nodded, her heart fluttering at the thought of spending so much time with him. "I'm really looking forward to it. I think it's exactly what I need."

They spent the rest of the evening talking, planning their time together, and enjoying the comfort of each other's company. Micha felt a sense of peace she hadn't felt in a long time. It was as if all the worries and fears that had been weighing her down were slowly lifting, replaced by the warmth and love that So Hyung brought into her life.

As the night grew late, Micha rested her head on So Hyung's shoulder, feeling his steady heartbeat against her. "I'm so glad I have you," she whispered, her voice full of emotion. "You make everything better, even when things feel so hard."

So Hyung wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close. "And I'm glad I have you, Micha. You make me feel alive in a way I never thought possible."

Eventually, the two of them drifted off to sleep, their hearts full of love and their minds at peace. For the first time in a while, Micha didn't feel scared or overwhelmed. She felt hopeful, knowing that whatever the future held, she and So Hyung would face it together. And that was all she needed.

As the morning light filtered gently through the curtains, Micha woke up to the soft warmth of the sun on her face. For a moment, she lay still, feeling the comfort of So Hyung's arms wrapped around her. The quiet rhythm of his breathing was soothing, a reminder of the love and safety she had found in him. She glanced at the clock—it was still early, but she couldn't help smiling, realizing that this day marked the beginning of something special: their time together without the weight of work or worries hanging over them.

Careful not to wake him, Micha slipped out of bed and tiptoed toward the kitchen. She wanted to surprise him with breakfast, a small gesture to show how grateful she was for everything he had done. Her heart was full, and even though they had talked late into the night, pouring out their hearts to one another, there were still so many feelings she wanted to express.

As Micha worked quietly, she found herself reflecting on the conversation they'd had the night before—the way So Hyung had reassured her, held her when she felt fragile, and promised to be by her side. He had brought a light into her life that she hadn't even known she needed. And now, as they prepared to spend more time together, she couldn't help but feel that everything was slowly falling into place.

Soon, the smell of freshly made pancakes filled the kitchen, along with the sound of eggs sizzling in the pan. Micha smiled to herself, imagining So Hyung's reaction when he woke up to the breakfast she had made. She set the table, carefully placing everything just the way she knew he liked it, and stepped back to admire her work.

Just then, she heard soft footsteps behind her and turned around to see So Hyung standing in the doorway, his eyes still a little sleepy but filled with affection. A warm smile spread across his face as he took in the sight of her bustling around the kitchen.

"You didn't have to do all this," he said, his voice gentle as he crossed the room to stand beside her. "But I'm not complaining. It smells amazing."

Micha blushed, feeling her heart swell with love. "I just wanted to do something nice for you. You've done so much for me, and I don't say thank you enough."

So Hyung leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "You don't have to thank me, Micha. Being with you is more than enough."

They sat down to eat together, the atmosphere filled with a quiet sense of contentment. As they shared breakfast, their conversation flowed effortlessly, moving from light-hearted jokes to deeper topics, the way it always did when they were together.

"So," So Hyung said after a while, looking at her with a playful glint in his eyes, "Have you thought more about what we talked about yesterday? About meeting our parents?"

Micha hesitated for a moment, her fork pausing mid-air as she looked at him. Her heart fluttered at the thought of taking that next big step, of telling their families about their plans to get married. It was exciting, but it also made her a little nervous. Still, the warmth in So Hyung's gaze reassured her.

"I've thought about it," Micha said, setting her fork down and looking straight into his eyes. "And yes, I want to meet our parents. I want to talk to them about our future, because… I can't imagine my life without you."

So Hyung's expression softened, and he reached across the table to take her hand. "I feel the same way, Micha. I've been waiting for the right time to talk to my parents, and now I feel like that time is finally here. I want us to build a life together, and I know they'll be happy for us."

A sense of calm settled over Micha as she listened to his words. Despite her fears and uncertainties, she knew deep down that they were moving in the right direction. This love, this connection they shared, felt so real and so strong that it gave her the courage to take the next step.

"When do you think we should meet them?" she asked, squeezing his hand.

"How about after we get back from this trip?" So Hyung suggested. "We can visit both of our families, one at a time. I want them to see how happy we are, and I want to hear what they think. But no matter what, Micha, nothing's going to change how I feel about you."

Micha smiled, her heart swelling with affection for this man who had become such an important part of her life. "I love you, So Hyung," she said softly, feeling the weight of those words settle in the air between them. "And I'm ready for whatever comes next, as long as we're together."

So Hyung's smile widened, and he leaned across the table to kiss her gently, sealing their quiet promise with the warmth of his lips. They spent the rest of the morning wrapped in the peace of each other's presence, knowing that whatever the future held, they would face it side by side.
