Chapter 3 - That dragon is the weakest of them all

Emma woke to the soft rustling of leaves and the gentle chirping of birds. She stretched her small, scaly limbs and yawned, feeling the morning sun warm her scales. It was a new day, and she was ready for whatever adventures awaited her.

"Good morning, Draconis," she said cheerfully.

**Good morning, Emma. You have made significant progress.**

Emma checked her status screen, eager to see her progress.

**Emma's Status:

Level: 1

Experience: 90/100**

"Just ten more experience points," she muttered to herself. "Let's see if I can level up today."

She set off into the forest, her steps more confident than the day before. She was determined to find more Fuzzbits or other creatures to defeat and gain the experience she needed. It didn't take long before she spotted a small group of Fuzzbits grazing in a clearing.

"Sorry, little guys, but I need the experience," she whispered, feeling a pang of guilt.

Emma pounced, her movements more fluid and precise than before. She dispatched three Fuzzbits with swift swipes of her claws, each one disappearing in a puff of light. She felt the familiar warm glow spreading through her body, but this time it was more intense.

**Congratulations, Emma. You have reached Level 2.**

Emma beamed with pride. "Alright! What's my new status?"

**Emma's Status:

Level: 2

Experience: 0/200

Health: 120/120

Mana: 60/60

Strength: 7

Agility: 7

Intelligence: 6

Luck: 5**

"And I got a bit of a boost in my stats too. Nice!" she said, feeling stronger and more capable.

**You have also gained a new skill: Fire Breath.**

Emma's eyes widened. "Fire Breath? Seriously? That's awesome!"

Fire Breath: A basic attack that releases a small burst of fire. Uses 10 Mana.

Emma was eager to try out her new skill. She looked around for a suitable target and spotted a large rock. She took a deep breath, focusing on the warmth building up inside her, and then released it. A small but fierce burst of flame shot from her mouth, hitting the rock and leaving a scorch mark.

"This is incredible," Emma said, grinning. "I can actually breathe fire!"

Feeling more confident than ever, Emma continued her exploration of the forest. She practiced her Fire Breath skill on various targets, getting a feel for its range and power. She was starting to feel like a real dragon.

Several hours passed, and Emma was deep into the forest when she heard strange voices. She froze, listening carefully. The voices were guttural and harsh, unlike anything she had heard before.

Curious but cautious, Emma crept closer to the source of the voices. She peered through the underbrush and saw two goblins arguing. They were short and green, with pointy ears and wicked-looking daggers. Emma strained to understand what they were saying, but their language was unfamiliar.

**Draconis is enabling translation.**

The words slowly began to make sense in her mind.

"…and I'm telling you, that dragon is the weakest of them all!" one goblin sneered.

"Yeah, a little Greenhorn Dragon," the other goblin laughed. "Pathetic."

Emma's blood boiled. She didn't know much about dragons, but being called the weakest didn't sit well with her. She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. She needed to be strategic about this.

The goblins continued their conversation, oblivious to her presence. "We should kill it," one said. "Easy prey."

"Agreed. Let's get it," the other replied, brandishing his dagger.

Emma's heart pounded in her chest. She had to defend herself. She took a deep breath, readying her Fire Breath. As the goblins approached, she burst from the underbrush, surprising them.

The goblins recoiled in shock. "It's here!" one shouted.

Emma didn't waste any time. She aimed her Fire Breath at the closest goblin, releasing a burst of flame. The goblin yelped and rolled to the side, dodging most of the fire but still getting singed.

The second goblin lunged at her, dagger raised. Emma jumped back, narrowly avoiding the blade. She lashed out with her claws, catching the goblin across the arm. The goblin hissed in pain but didn't back down.

Emma was determined not to go down easily. She took another deep breath and released her Fire Breath again, this time hitting the first goblin square in the chest. The goblin screamed, dropping his dagger and writhing on the ground.

The second goblin growled and charged at her again. Emma braced herself, using her agility to sidestep the attack. She swiped at the goblin's leg, causing him to stumble. Seizing the opportunity, she pounced, knocking the goblin to the ground.

The goblin struggled beneath her, but Emma's determination gave her strength. She slashed with her claws, feeling a mix of adrenaline and fear. The goblin finally went still, and Emma backed away, panting.

She turned to the first goblin, who was still writhing in pain from the fire. With a final swipe of her claws, she ended the fight.

**You have gained 50 EXP.**

Emma collapsed onto the ground, exhausted but victorious. She checked her status screen.

**Emma's Status:

Level: 2

Experience: 50/200**

"Wow," she breathed. "That was intense."

**Well done, Emma. You fought bravely.**

Emma smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. "Thanks, Draconis. That was a tough fight."

You are growing stronger. Continue to train and you will overcome any challenge.

Emma nodded, feeling more confident in her abilities. She looked at the fallen goblins and felt a mix of relief and sadness. She didn't enjoy fighting, but she knew it was necessary for her survival in this new world.

She sat there for a while, catching her breath and processing what had just happened. The forest around her was peaceful again, the only sounds being the rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds.

Emma stood up, determined to keep moving forward. She had a lot to learn and a lot of growing to do, but she was ready for the challenge. She took one last look at the clearing before continuing her journey through the forest.

The day was far from over, and Emma knew she had to stay vigilant. There were more dangers out there, but she was ready to face them head-on. She was no longer just an ordinary woman; she was a dragon, and she was determined to become stronger with each passing day.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the forest, Emma found a safe spot to rest for the night. She curled up under a large tree, feeling a sense of satisfaction and pride. Today had been a challenging day, but she had overcome it and emerged stronger.

**Goodnight, Emma. You have done well today.**

Emma smiled. "Goodnight, Draconis. Thanks for your help."

As she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, she thought about her old life and how much had changed. She missed her friends and her quiet, predictable days, but she also felt a thrill of excitement for the future.

This new world was filled with challenges and adventures, and she was ready to face them all. After all, she was a dragon now, and nothing was going to stop her from becoming stronger.
