Chapter 85 - Planning the Cultural Festival

The excitement from the first meeting of the Cultural Exchange Club carried over into the following days. With the festival now officially on the agenda, the club members were eager to get started. Ryo, Aiko, Kenta, and Hana organized a planning session, where they divided everyone into groups to handle different aspects of the festival.

In the clubroom, a large whiteboard displayed the various tasks: food stalls, performances, decorations, and promotional activities. Aiko took the lead, her organizational skills shining through.

"Okay, everyone," she began, "let's start with food stalls. We want to represent as many cultures as possible. Does anyone have any ideas?"

Hands shot up, and students enthusiastically shared their suggestions. A group of three students volunteered to make traditional Japanese sweets, while others offered to prepare dishes from Korea, China, Thailand, and even Italy. Each suggestion was met with approval, and soon a diverse menu was forming.

Kenta, always the life of the party, suggested a cooking demonstration as part of the festival. "We could have a 'Cooking with Kenta' segment where I teach everyone how to make okonomiyaki!"

Everyone laughed, but the idea was well-received. It added a fun, interactive element to the food stalls, and Kenta's charisma would surely draw a crowd.

Next, Ryo took charge of the performances. "We need to showcase different cultures through music and dance. Does anyone here play an instrument or know traditional dances?"

Hana, who had a talent for playing the koto, raised her hand. "I can perform a piece on the koto. I also know a few traditional dances we could teach."

A few other students volunteered to perform dances and songs from their cultures. A group of girls who practiced K-pop dance routines decided to put on a performance, and a boy from the UK offered to play the guitar and sing a traditional folk song.

With the performances coming together, Aiko moved on to decorations. "We want the festival to look vibrant and welcoming. Any ideas for decorations?"

Suggestions ranged from paper lanterns and traditional banners to floral arrangements and cultural symbols. They decided to create a photo booth with traditional costumes from different countries, where attendees could take pictures.

Finally, Ryo addressed the promotional activities. "We need to get the word out. Posters, social media, and announcements during school assemblies should do the trick."

The club members nodded in agreement. A few students offered to design eye-catching posters, while others volunteered to manage the club's social media accounts.

As the meeting came to a close, the room buzzed with excitement and a sense of purpose. Everyone was eager to contribute and make the festival a success. Ryo, Aiko, Kenta, and Hana felt a deep sense of satisfaction seeing their vision take shape.

Walking home that evening, Ryo and Aiko reflected on the day. "I'm so proud of everyone," Aiko said, her voice filled with pride. "This festival is going to be amazing."

Ryo nodded, a smile on his face. "We've got a great team. And I'm proud of you, Aiko. You've been incredible at organizing everything."

Aiko blushed slightly, but her eyes sparkled with determination. "We've all worked hard. I can't wait to see it all come together."

Over the next few weeks, the preparations for the festival intensified. The club members met regularly, each group diligently working on their tasks. The school was abuzz with anticipation, and the excitement was palpable.

On the day of the festival, the school grounds transformed into a vibrant celebration of cultures from around the world. The air was filled with the aroma of delicious food, the sound of music and laughter, and the sight of colorful decorations. Students, teachers, and parents wandered through the stalls, sampling dishes, watching performances, and taking part in activities.

Ryo and Aiko stood at the entrance, welcoming attendees and ensuring everything ran smoothly. As they watched the festival unfold, they felt a deep sense of accomplishment and joy. Their journey of sharing and learning had brought their school community closer together, and they knew this was only the beginning of many more adventures to come.
