"You've gained my respect actually," she continued. "But I can't lie I'm going to miss seeing you in that ridiculous foundation that never matched your skin and your overdressing, that was truly hilarious," she said as she laughed some more.
Tanya was angry but from what she'd learned in her crown princess training she was always supposed to remain calm and composed.
"I'm sure you thought in the beginning that having a high class education and being of nobility would give you the upper hand to his heart
Don't worry I'll take good care of the prince. And when I become Empress…"
"Your Highness we have to return to your lessons," A voice said interrupting her. Tanya and Celeste looked in the direction and saw a elderly woman standing not far from them. She was Celeste's lady-in-waiting Lady Luva and she had previously been Tanya's lady in waiting when she was princess.
"Oh yes, I just came to collect something from my room," Celeste said. "See you around Tanya she said as she began to walk away heading towards the Lady Luva.
Tanya looked back at her former lady-in-waiting who gave her a pained expression. Memories of the times she had spent with Luva came to mind. To see her work with Celeste was painful especially since she hadn't seen her at all during her demotion.
Celeste noticed Luva and Tanya staring at each other pushed Luva as she looked back at Tanya
Tanya returned to her room to continue packing. It was when she found out she had received a response from the letter she had sent her brother the day before.
It simply read: "Looking forward to seeing you home, sister. Love, your brother"
Tanya was touched by these words her brother wanted her home. It had been a while since she gone home. Almost four months since the last time. The difference is this time she had to tell him the truth of what had been happening at the palace. Before when she used to visit home she would tell him all was well and whatever rumours he was hearing were dramatic.
It was the end of the day when her servants were finally done packing Later that evening Tanya received a message that the Emperor wants to see her.
Tanya felt her heart rate increase. Was she in trouble? she thought to herself. At first she thought to herself should she see the Emperor before she left but as she was a mere lover she didn't have any grounds to see him
Despite her fear she was also thought it was a good thing as it showed the Emperor was thinking about her. Tanya had been hurt before since when Malek decided to demote her from her position he didn't say anything about it.
"I greet Your Majesty the Emperor, Sun of the Kajar Empire,"
"Lady Edom, you may rise," he instructed her to which Tanya stood up.
"I heard you're leaving the palace," he said to her.
"Yes, your Majesty," she answered.
"To think you were about to leave without saying goodbye to me."
"I had no authority to ask for an audience Your Majesty—" Tanay explained in a panic worried she had
"Relax, you are not in trouble," he told her this. "No, You're right. I didn't think it would come to this, but I shouldn't be surprised considering how he treated you. If anything I commend your patience and putting up with it for so long. I imagine the last two weeks haven't been easy for you and you must be wondering why I didn't intervene when Malek decided to demote you from your position. I didn't intervene not because I agreed with his decision but I wanted to see
Tanya's eyes narrowed in confusion wondering what the Emperor meant.
"Malek is of age and could take over the throne should anything happen to me. In other words it's high time he makes his own decisions to understand what kind of Emperor he would be. All I can say is I am unimpressed by what I have seen so far," he explained further.
"Personally, I think you would make a fantastic Empress. You are and always will be my preferred Crown Princess. I chose you myself after all. Unfortunately, Malek is too immature to see it and if that's the case If your decision is to leave then I respect it I just wanted to let you know that if you ever need a favor you can rely on me.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Tanya thanked him
"I give you my blessing and I look forward to see what you have next planned in your future Endeavours."
Emperor Ramer then dismissed Tanya and she made her to her room to retire for the night.
She wasn't sure how to feel about what the Emperor had to say to her concerning everything that had happened. On the one hand she was thinking about allowing the prince to make his own decisions at her expense. Allowing him to demote her meant the time she'd spent training to become Empress for the last seven years only to be dropped from the position was a waste.
However, on the other hand she understood that Emperor Ramer couldn't predict what actions Malek would take. If he had gone against Malek's decision and made Tanya stay as his Empress at the end of the day when Malek became Emperor she would be his Empress and she would have to answer to him. Emperor Ramer would be nowhere to defend her. So in a way it's better she's out of the situation now.
The following morning when Tanya woke up she felt nervous as she knew it was time to go as she was prepared for the day she processed the know bare bedroom that only remained with the objects that had already been in the room; the furniture, bedsheets etc.
She then went to the palace entrance where she was met with a carriage and two large wagons. The two wagons were stuffed to the brim with her belongings. The only two people to see her off were the two main palace library workers whom she often played Roku with. Tanya was happy to see them but she had also been hoping to see Lady Luva, her former Lady in waiting. Obviously, she was busy with Celeste so that's why she couldn't see her.
