Chapter 27 - Elexia's Library

"Looks like my villainous arc is about to begin," Hayato replied quietly.

"Huh? Don't use weird terms when talking to me, I don't get it at all," Rafe grumbled with an annoyed look on his face.

"All this time I thought that the path I took was to become a hero who saved this world, but it seems I was wrong. As a matter of fact, my life in this world is full of misfortune, and in this academy, they are also bullying me. Now I realize that the path I took was the path of a villain," Hayato explained with a grin.

"Soon my arc of becoming a villain will begin, the nameless NPCs who taunt me every day will definitely be eliminated. This is good, it means that I am not a mainstream protagonist, but I am an anti-mainstream protagonist. I will be the most historical villain in the world! Hahaha..." Hayato said as he stood up and grinned with satisfaction.

"Wake up, you freak!" snapped Rafe as he knocked Hayato to the ground.

"Argh!" screamed Hayato while holding his cheek.

"What are you doing stupid!" snapped Hayato as he got up.

"You're the one who's weird, didn't I tell you not to use that weird phrase of yours when talking to me! My head could explode, you know!" grumbled Rafe in annoyance.

"Tch. Stupid NPCs like you should just shut up when the main character is monologuing," Hayato said, glaring at Rafe.

"You freak, it's worth the others staying away from you. We'd better find some information about my friends as soon as possible, I'm tired of listening to your weird sentences every day," Rafe grumbled as he hurried away.

"Hey, wait! Master asked me to take you somewhere, he said you'll get a lot of good information there," Hayato said as he caught up with Rafe.

"Then tell me about it! Don't waste time with your strange words," Rafe grumbled as he stopped his steps.

"You're the one who couldn't wait to hear me out anyway," Hayato said.

"Just an excuse, who wants to listen to your weird words anyway," Rafe grumbled.

The two of them soon left the dormitory area, some other students were walking around the dormitory and the surrounding garden, some other students were sitting and playing in the water while watching the fish in the pond.

Rafe and Hayato descended the steep road to reach the flatter foot of the mountain. From there, a path of flat stones and walls led to another building of the academy.

"Where is it?" asked Rafe.

"Elexia Academy Library. It's the largest library in the Ruttera Kingdom, where the books of knowledge reside," Hayato replied.

"Books? I'm too lazy to deal with books," Rafe said with a disappointed look on his face.

"You could get information about Rex and the others," Hayato said, looking annoyed.

"Then you'll just read the contents to me," Rafe said.

"Huh! The book is for you to read yourself! I'm not some bedtime storyteller who's going to read it to you just like that!" snapped Hayato.

"Then look somewhere else," Rafe said.

"Tch. I wouldn't have taken you there if Nia hadn't told me to," Hayato grumbled.

The two of them had entered the hallway of another school building. The first year students were already in the main area of the school, they seemed to be watching the second year students practicing on the field. But Rafe and Hayato weren't interested in seeing other students studying or practicing.

Hayato went straight to a building with the tallest tower in the main area of the school. On top of the tower was a giant analog clock that was clearly visible even from the student dormitory area, Rafe stopped his steps for a moment before entering the door of the building in front of him.

"Anybody sell food in there?" asked Rafe excitedly.

"Tch. Just the food in your head, behind this library building is a restaurant, I mean there are various food stalls. Those who sell there are residents of the capital who have received permission from the Academy," Hayato explained as he pushed Rafe into the library building.

The library building looked very spacious, there were nine floors inside and each floor had a reading area and an area where books were displayed. On the first floor, several first year students were reading books. The two librarians on the first floor looked at Rafe and Hayato who were still standing at the door.

"We'll go straight to the ninth floor," Hayato said as he hurried towards the stairs.

Rafe followed him, taking in his surroundings. Each floor had a different classification of books, the first floor contained books about magic, the second floor about combat techniques, the third floor about monsters, the fourth floor about weapons, the fifth floor about potions and elixirs, the sixth floor about noble families, the seventh floor about adventure archives and adventure stories, the eighth floor about dungeons and the ninth floor contained history books.

On each floor, there were two librarians in charge of organizing and maintaining the books, as well as keeping order. Rafe walked past one floor after another until he finally reached the ninth floor.

"Uh, what's this angry girl doing here?" muttered Rafe when he saw Elena sitting alone in a chair in the reading area.

"So which story would you like to read first?" asked Hayato.

"Take your pick, as long as it has something to do with information about my friends," Rafe replied as he walked over to Elena.

"Tch. You're useless! If only Master hadn't threatened me, I wouldn't have bothered to bring him here," Hayato grumbled softly as he walked towards the area where the books were displayed.

"Oh, it turns out that underneath your surly exterior, you like to read books, too," Rafe said as he sat down in the chair across from Elena.

"What's a pervert like you doing here? There are no grannies here for you to peek at," Elena said curtly.

"I was just forced to come here by Hayato," Rafe replied as he leaned back against the chair.

Elena didn't seem to care about Rafe, soon Hayato came with an excited face, nine thick books seemed to be carried by Hayato with difficulty in his hands. Behind Hayato there seemed to be a beautiful blue-haired girl with sad eyes, she was the girl who didn't watch Rafe's fight.

"Nova, did you find the book you were looking for?" asked Elena with a smile.

"Eh, you can be friendly too," Rafe said, surprised by Elena's sweet smile.

"Shut up, don't pick a fight with me in the library," Elena grumbled as she glared at Rafe.

"I found it, but suddenly a strange man asked me to bring it to him. He also said strange things that I didn't understand," replied the blue-haired girl named Nova Veldaz.

"Strange things?" asked Elena while looking at Hayato.

"Yes. O beautiful girl with blue hair like the beautiful blue of the sky, I, the main character of this world, have been waiting for our first dialogue for a long time. With all my sincerity that matches the depth of the ocean, let me bring you this book. He said that?" said Nova as she sat down with no expression at all.

"Huh?" said Elena as she frowned, confused by Nova's words imitating Hayato.

"It seems that this is indeed a beautiful destiny, two beautiful girls who once dialogued with me are now in the same place by chance. What else, if not destiny? You two are indeed suitable to be the harem of main characters like me," Hayato said while putting down the book in his hand.

"Don't embarrass me, speak normally!" grumbled Rafe while glaring at Hayato.

"Ancient human NPCs like you should shut up first. I'm having a dialog with an important NPC in my story," Hayato interrupted while sitting down elegantly.

"Sweet ladies, first of all, can we have dinner together tonight?" asked Hayato while looking at Elena and Nova.

"No way!" said Elena as she looked away and turned her eyes back to the book in her hands.

"I refuse," replied Nova, who was busy reading the book.

"Huh? Maybe they're the tsundere type or something," Hayato thought.

"Tch. Didn't you bring me here to talk about history? If you don't want to read it, I'll just go to the food stall," Rafe said, getting up annoyed by Hayato's behavior.

"Just go there, I want to talk to these two sweet ladies," Hayato said curtly.

But suddenly Nova closed her book and looked at Hayato sharply, suddenly Hayato was surprised when he saw Nova's look, which seemed to be disgusted with him.

"Eh? Doesn't she like being called sweet lady?", Hayato thought.

"What an irresponsible person," Nova grumbled as she turned her gaze to Rafe.

"Your name is Rafe Lostfield, right? What story do you want to know? Let me read it to you," Nova said with a sweet smile.

"Eh! What a strange situation this is!" exclaimed Hayato, who was surprised by Nova's attitude towards Rafe.
